The boys are back……. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m kind of stuck on how I feel about Day 26 right now. I can’t figure out if it’s because their fame is based off a reality show, which isn’t really self-generated but more machine-generated. Or maybe I can’t pinpoint their style just yet.

I mean, Diddy said they were the best male group in the last 10 years, but what does he know, he rides around town in a silver Jeep Wrangler with neon lights under the engine and eats Fruity Loops with Orange Juice and Ciroc Vodka, lol.

Anyway, I’m assuming this is the first single from Day 26’s sophomore set, “Forever In A Day,” which is scheduled to invade the streets April 14. I’m not particularly excited about the track, but my spidey senses tell me it could pick up steam the more I listen to it. Of course, Diddy and Joc are riding the front and back ends of the track to give it that extra “umph,” but I’m not sure if it worked too well.

Like it, Love it or Leave it???????

Awwww, 50 Loves Diddy….. So, I emancipated the new issue of King Magazine from my secret newsstand several days ago, but I’m just dissecting the issue today (Yes, I know I’m late). Anyway, since I was stepping out to the pizza parlor for lunch today, I decided to search through the issue while I made love to two slices of pepperoni pizza (not a pretty sight, but I was hungry lol).

Of course, I drooled over the superb photography of the past 50 issues (they’re celebrating The Big 50 this issue) and decided which one I would get detained by the authorities for stalking (it’s a tie between Dollica Bryan and Porschla Coleman), but I also noticed an exceptional piece on 50 Cent written by Adam Matthews.

In the article, 50 touches on the severity of the U.S. economy, his career as an actor, retiring from the rap game, and his perception of wealth and how it’s been altered over the past few years. But before closing out, Fif also offered his perspective on who possesses the best model for staying relevant in the game. Read who he picked, below…..

50 Cent on who has the best model for staying relevant……

“Puffy has the best model for staying relevant, because he does it without a song. He’s been able to maintain an interest and stay in a space to executive produce television projects and stay relevant to hip hop culture. What was the last record that made you feel like, “Oh my god, Puffy is on fire?” You don’t need it. That’s what makes his business model exciting for me. There are only three of us to look at: Jay, me, and Puff. We have three totally different situations. We’ve just been a part of hip hop culture. That’s the similarity. I just think they’re the fire hydrant: You can’t move those guys off the street. I think they’ll still be the guys you need to connect with in the next few years to get a shot.”

Well put, Fif. Now, here’s my question to you guys: Outside of them, because I do believe there will be several others who have the ability to achieve the same relevance, who else will be able to maintain the same feat Puff’s been able to accomplish thus far??? Rappers, Producers, Singers….WHO????????

SOUND OFFF……PLEASE!

Sincerely

Low “Rest assured, I may sh*t on Puff from time to time, but the big homey handles his business” Key

HA! You knew it was coming…..Ahhhh, where to start. Ok first, let’s shift the logistics out the way so everyone knows what’s going on. As we all know, Sir Diddy is giving the solo opportunity another whirl. I mean it’s only right since he’s already damaged the careers of Day 26, Danity Kane, Donnie Klang and so on and so forth.

At first notice, Diddly Did was counting on the magical abilities from T-Pain to assist in making his project epic, to say the least. Diddy even recorded several episodes of the two in the studio collaborating on the effort. EPIC FAIL!
However, a little birdie over at Bad Boy informed me the other day that Puff The Magic Producer has scrapped the effort and is heading in a totally different direction. Well, that information serves true because Diddy has now conjured up the idea of calling his new album, “The Last Train To Paris”.

From what Diddy has revealed to MTV.com, the set will be an all-expenses paid trip through a love affair that commenced while on tour overseas (not really, but that’s the story line).

Says Diddy, “It’s about this tumultuous love roller-coaster relationship that occurs. It’s everything from love, pain, sex, God, celebration. It’s a lot of things rolled into one. It’s a conceptual album.”

Ok, whatever. Seeing as how I’m over the whole “conceptual album” marketing ploy, I’m taking it upon myself to inflict some of my A&R’ing capabilities into the mix. Rest assured, this list doesn’t derive from the hating vein in my left arm, more so the, ehhh….how can I put this delicately…….the WHAT ARE YOU THINKING muscle in my left shoulder.

I know you guys probably have some issues with the title, so feel free to add your own suggestions in the comments section.

10. Pay Stubs: A detailed and introspective journey through Diddy’s checkbook proving once and for all, he’s not that heartless, Cambodian breast milk drinking man everyone perceived him to be.

9. Assistants Make The World Go Round: Seeing how I once served as one of his Jr. Executive Assistants back in 2003, I could easily A&R this project. Song titles could include, “Cheesecake Chronicles”, “Dog Sitter”, Louie Bag Grabber”, T.G.G.O.T (The Greatest Gopher of All-Time), “My Son, Your Son”, “Where’s My Umbrella” and “Don’t Tell My Artists”.

8. The Big Pay Back: No, this isn’t going to be an album where Diddy takes a shot at each and every individual who slung mud at the mention of the first letter in his name. See, this is Diddy’s album where he collaborates with every artist he’s every screwed over and pays them, get this, their FULL QUOTA. Not only that, but anything the song earns after its release, each check will go to that respective artist. TAKE THAT, TAKE THAT!

7. Your Show, My Show: This album will shy away from hip-hop and lean in the direction of TV and Broadway. Since Diddy can’t leave anything untouched, he decided to record all of his auditions and release them via MP3. Expect readings from such scripts as, “Heroes”, “Two & A Half Men”, “Lost”, “Entourage”, “Shrek The Musical”, “The Office”, “Making The Band”, “Scrubs”, “24″, “CSI: The Music Industry” and many more!

6. R&B (Rhythm & Babes): It’s no secret, Puff loves the ladies. If I had a dollar for every time I heard about Puff being cuddled up with some foxy mama, I’d probably retire right after this blog was posted. Puff will use R&B to clarify who he’s bumped uglies with, who he wants to bump uglies with and who will never get to see his “ugly”. Oh and you can expect exclusive skits from Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Kim Porter, that random broad from ATL, Aubrey O’ Day, Cassie, Oprah, Lauren London and Ellen DeGeneres (she hasn’t been confirmed yet).

5. B.L.A.O.G. (Blogging Like An Original Gangster): This will be a video album. Once Diddy plastered his face on his YouTube channel, The Diddy Blog franchise maneuvered its way into the hearts of every gossip blogger from here to Tibet. From hiding under the covers from Sarah Palin and John McCain to eating Fruit Loops with Orange Juice, Diddy did it all. Diddy will exclusively perform all his songs from wherever he’s located. Whether he’s loading a Delta Airlines flight to sit Coach Class or weaving through traffic on the West Side Highway in a Jeep Wrangler, Puff’s going to show it.

4. Push The Button: We all know Diddy is one of the best “button pushers” in the industry, but on this project, we’ll get to see why. Instead of rapping over the tracks, Diddy will record himself yelling and screaming his commands to that specific producer he’s collaborating with. Song titles include, “I Don’t Like That”, “Turn My Sh*t Up”, “You Want Your Check?”, “Get My Gun, This Fool Is Effin Up My Kick Drum”.

3. Strike Three, You’re Out: Judging from this title, you can already grasp what the concept of this album is about. Since the start of his career Puff’s been known for showing his disgruntled artists the door. Well on this project, everyone who got the “Diddy Boot” will have their chance to relive that fateful day they received that agonizing recording pink slip. Diddy’s going to even up the anty by collaborating with each artist on their respective track.

2. I’M B.I.G.: Puff will rap over BIG’s instrumentals detailing on each song how he removed BIG’s creative soul, bit by bit. Oh please, act like he didn’t do that in real life.

1. I Rap, You Write, Produce & Sing: This won’t be different from any other album. Puff raps, and whoever he’s working with will write, produce and sing. His press release for the album will be “Your idea……MY IDEA aka DEBO! CLASSIC!

Spare me of the “You’re such a hater” commentary, I’m just poking fun at the obvious. Aye Diddy, someone told me you might be mad at this list….well, ARE YOU???

Sincerely

Low “Take That, Take That…HHHAHAHAHAHAHA” Key

But after hearing Mark’s story earlier today, I must say….WOW! Let me say that again….WOW!

I’m DEFINITELY not going into what was said during today’s interview (the big homey, Andreas is writing a MEAN feature about it and putting together the full video), but I can damn sure GUARANTEE Puff’s going to take us off his Christmas list after everything is said and done. Am I hyping the story? Yes and no, but hey, THAT’S MY JOB…TO HYPE OUR SH*T.

Aye Puff, no worries on this end, I’m not writing my “The Intern Wears Sean John” until you retire….TAKE THAT, TAKE THAT! (In 2004, I interned for Bad Boy as Puff’s Jr. Executive Assistant)

Enough talking, I’ll let Mark takeover from here. ENJOY!

Fall back…..just for 365 Days!

Alright ladies and germs, let’s get one thing clear, this list is dedicated to those who DESTROYED (in a good way, except the last 2 lol) 2008. This is not a list showcasing my undying hate for these specific individual(s), it’s more like a bevy of reasons on why they should take a 365 day breather so either their proteges can get some breathing room or so they can take a VERY well deserved break. I’ll keep it short and to the point, but I know a majority of you will feel the same way, so please, don’t hesitate to chime in below in our wonderful comments section that you guys LOVE to play in lol.

1. Kanye West

Despite the death of his mother and severing ties with his OH SO gorgeous fiance, Yeezy did the inevitable and took to the stage and the studio to conquer every Billboard chart and iTunes list there was to conquer. He showed us the real meaning of “Stadium Status” by embarking on a nationwide excursion as well as an international expedition for his Glow In The Dark set. Though it was incredibly hard for him at times, Ye proved he was stronger than most, but showed a bit of vulnerability on stage when he couldn’t stomach the memories of his loving mother. In that process, 808’s & Heartbreak was conceived, which argubally could be Kanye’s best work to date. If Kanye has anything left to show, it would be amazing, and since he probably does, I suggest he save it for 2010…I’m sure we’ll be yearning for another extraordinary project from the “Voice of our generation”.

2. Beyonce

As most of you may know, I HATE Beyonce….HAHAHAHHA (Some of you have NO sense of humor, I swear). Regardless of what I’ve written about the “Diva”, Mrs. Carter devoured the latter half of 2008, WHOLE. And judging by her major promotional blitz earlier last month, it’s only going to get worse in 2009. A international tour commencing in April, several movies in the works and of course MORE offerings from I Am…..Sasha Fierce, I’ll probably be suggesting Beyonce to fall back in 2010 as well. I have to hand it to the “privileged” mamacita, she knows how to get it done, but, for some odd reason, I can year Young H-O (Jay-Z) in the rear WISHING she would just sit the hell down (again, I’m just joking lol).

3. T-Pain

I was sort of on the fence about putting the Tallahassee Titan on this list, but he too is in need of a well deserved break. If I’m not mistaken, this kid was on 37 at ONE TIME??? How the hell do you accomplish that without burning out? Maybe this was the year for him to prove that ugly people can also be successful (Zing…Ok, I’m sorry). He produced, composed, and performed for just about each of his superstar friends and a majority of them returned the favor on his third offering, Thr33 Ringz, which for the most part served the industry to it’s mainstream liking. I can’t imagine the ish he has in store for 2009, but, it would be a blessing to see him just FALL BACK behind the curtains for 365 days because since the birth of the Auto-Tune, every moron with a microphone thought it would bring joy and prosperity to them as it did for him. We’ll miss you, Pain…but not that much because we have PLENTY of material from you that’ll last us until 2012.

4. Diddy

Ahhhh Diddy. Maybe his NYE proposal was his own way of telling the world he was hitting the behind the scenes market so he could focus more on his empire. But since that didn’t pan out like originally planned, his plague will now infiltrate our souls for ANOTHER 365 days (pegged as The Gift and The Curse). We all witnessed his “Diddy Blog” web series first hand, observed the inner rumblings of Danity Kane and watched him parade two beautiful baby girls in the media as if they were prized Turkey’s over the course of 2008 and oddly enough, he’s only getting started. Diddy+T-Pain= UGH! Yes, I’ll be front and center when that project hits the masses, but I’m not sure that’s the best route for Mr. OrangeJuiceInMyFruitLoops. The T-Pain collaboration train left the station a LOONNNNG time ago. Ciroc Obama (I hate that name more than Barack does himself, lol) loves the spotlight, but the real question is….how much does it love him and for how long?

5. Soulja Boy

Give it a rest kid, it’s over…for now. The Sophomore Slump slapped you harder than Maino did Yung Berg and you have YET to recover from the travesty. 46K in seven days??? Yep, it’s time for that career intervention….fast! Beefing with Ice-T was cool, but it went down hill when you decided to give Charles Hamilton a tongue lashing via your YouTube channel. Not taking anything away from CH, but tell me, how many cool points were you really trying to gain from that? Funny how that little situation hit the light several weeks before the release of your album. Come on dude, you have to be a BIT smarter than that. Don’t worry, the kids STILL love you, but step up your marketing game, we’ve heard it all before. Oh, and that home invasion thing you have going on right now….you better have a good story to follow up with that one, the world is WATCHING.

Honorable Mention

1. Jim Jones.

2. Lil Wayne (only because the sight of his face tattoos keep me tossing and turning at night).

3. Busta Rhymes (You can blame “Arab Money” for that, Busta).

4. DJ Khaled (You are the best, but only in limited areas).

5. Frankie (I could list 546546465 reasons, but I have places to go today).

6. Ron Browz (Until he translates the chorus of “Arab Money” he’s not allowed out of his studio).

Sincerely

Low “One more person to say 200Mine is going on this LIST…SUPERSTAR OR NOT” Key

Not A Good Idea + I Don’t Think So + Not Really= HELL NO! Look, I usually turn the other cheek when Diddy presents one of his absurd proposals in infiltrating his “Diddyness” amongst society, but I HAD to speak up on this one. “Ciroc Obama”, that “Search For An Assistant” foolery and his Diddy Blog garbage; all of which I’ve kept clear of, hell, I even cut him slack on his future tin can sounding album with T-Pain, but this is where the line is drawn.

About 20 minutes ago, I received an email from the good folks over at Bad Boy. Usually, I tend to skim through these email blasts and proceed with my day, but when I saw New Year’s Eve in the headline, I assumed it was a HUGE party of some sort….BOY WAS I WRONG.

At first I congratulated Diddy for donating $1 Million to a NYC charity, but when I discovered the reason behind it….I shook my head in disbelief. This fool, Diddy being the fool, thought it would be great to give an NYC charity $1 Million in exchange for a NYE “Bad Boy Takeover”. NO. NO. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The message reads as follows, “The vodka brand wants to change the historic crystal ball to reflect its iconic blue sphere. The color of the sphere originates from a unique plant that grows in the Galliac region of France, where CÎROC is still produced, and serves as a symbol of prosperity for the area even today.” Diddy, what in the HELL makes you think TRILLIONS of people want to see a blue gum ball drop from the sky when they traveled halfway across the world to see the historic CRYSTAL one that’s led us into a new year for the past (insert how many years the crystal ball has been around here)?

Diddy, I love your enthusiasm, seriously I do, but this right here, step as FAR away from this as you can. Don’t you usually takeover a foreign island around this time?? Let me guess, you didn’t have enough money to fuel your private jet because of the recession, huh?

Says Diddy of his extravagant NYE takeover, “As the ‘Official Vodka of New Year’s Eve,’ it’s only fitting that we take over New York, the most iconic New Year’s city in the world,” said Combs, who entered into a strategic marketing alliance with the ultra-premium spirit more than one year ago. “I’m going to give every adult in America a taste of what it’s like to enjoy a sophisticated celebration with Diddy, and what better time than while ringing in the New Year.” Uhhhh, no thanks homey, Grey Goose will do juuuuuuuuust fine on December 31st.

Alright, now that you know his plans, what do you think??? Is this absurd or are you looking forward to partying with Diddy and his Ciroc beverage on December 31st?

LowKey’s Verdict: 2008 was alreay a bad year, don’t make it worse, Diddy!

Sincerely

It’s The Remix……YIKES?!?! I love the invention of the remix, trust me I really do, but sometimes that ish can be extremely overwhelming. Earlier this week Busta and his BUDDIES released a video of them competing for the best verse on the remix to “Arab Money” (I get sick every time I mention that title). After watching the clip, anticipation started to trickle through my fingers. I thought, “hey, this might not be that bad. I don’t understand one word of the chorus, but I just might jump on the bandwagon”.

And then it happened; it was RELEASED….and, dare I say, I liked it. I can’t, nor will I try, to convince you this is the best remix of ‘08. However, the All-Star line up did entice me (Flashback to Craig Mack’s, “Flava In Ya Remix”). Regardless of how much I like the song, I still can’t stand the original version. Sorry Busta! Anyway, enjoy this Thanksgiving treat while I head upstairs to devour everything and anything that comes within arms length.

Like it, Love it or Leave it???

Sincerely

T-Pain’s circus just might be the greatest show on EARTH!

A funny thing almost happened before last night’s show; my ass almost didn’t get in. Last week when I received the invite, I quickly responded to the respective email, only to be told “This list is CLOSED”. “Noooooooooooooo” I screeched in agony, (I was asked politely to shut the hell up moments later) this can’t be….I will NOT miss the party. So, like a 16 year old brat whose older sibling wouldn’t let him play Playstation causing him to run to his mother so she could override the decision (I hate my sister, lol), I quickly hit my boss, who then hit our big boss. To make a long story short, I’m now writing this On Location post, still slightly worn out from last nights festivities.

Not only was the event an album release party, but it also doubled as a free MySpace concert (the line for that entrance made me SICK to my stomach it was so long), which made thing more festive and interesting. After swiping two wristbands from the door lady who I continuously flirted with, (”Can you put that on for me, I’ve had a long day”), Dre and I skated inside, snatched two alcoholic beverages and posted up till the show started.

Bearded women (ugh), two brawny midgets (they scare me) and a brown tender roni poppin her touché on some 6 ft high stilts (Hey pretty lady), T-Pain really turned Hiro into his own personal circus. He opened the set with an explosive, but brief, set to Kanye’s,” Good Life”. And since I was at the bar getting another round, I would’ve missed the opportunity to record Kanye if he actually came out, but he didn’t (WHEEEW!)

Pizzle ran through some more hits (tooo many to name) and even summoned a couple of his superstar brethrens to the stage for some fun. Maino was the first to hit the stage performing, “Hi Hater”(WHAS GOOD,Niles) Then, Diddy, draped in a black bubble coat, pitch black shades and a grey skully, helped Pain serenade the ladies on “Shawty” sans Plies. “Excuse my appearance” explained Circo Obama (Diddy). “But I’ve been running around crazy helping Barack Obama do his thing”. Pain promised Diddy he didn’t have to work, so he retreated backstage to enjoy the rest of the show.

Taking it waaaaay back, TP gave an energetic performance of “I’m Sprung” (I hated that damn song) which drew a surprisingly overwhelming response. Memphitz (he discovered T-Pain), host to BET’s new show, The Deal, came out for a short version of “Pop, Lock and Drop It” (I love doing the G-5 under the influence). Busta and the entire Flipmode Squad showed up to familiarize the audience with his new single, “Arab Money” (*Dead*) and even broke out a tongue twisting performance of “Break Ya Neck”. Pain said at the conclusion of Busta’s set, “I have friends, I have lots of friends”.

Terrence J from 106 and Park came out to talk his ish, but it was nothing compared to who Pain brought out shortly after. DJ Khaled emerged from the behind the stage hopping around like the energized bunny he is and went straight into the chorus of “I’m So Hood”. I’m sure you could guess what he said at the end of his set and if you can’t, take your pick. (Ace Hood coming Nov 18th, We Global, We The Best, Unity….etc.)

After tickling the ivories during “Can’t Believe It”, Luda slid onstage for “Chopped and Skrewed” and his current single, “One More Drink”, which Pain is also featured on. To end the night, Pizzle brought out one of his memorable numbers, “Buy You A Drank”, which easily won the crowd over as soon as the first finger snap echoed through the venue.

Check out some exclusive footage and flicks of the party, below!

T-Pain….free drinks…..pretty ladies….wingman (whadup Dre); what more could you ask for????

Sincerely

Hip Hop put in tooooo much work for Barack to lose!

While I hate to ponder the notion of Barack falling to John McCain and that other lady, anything is possible in the world of politricks. With that said, I came up with 10 things our lovely hip hoppers will say or do once that final announcement is made. Though this post is all in good fun, let’s remember that if Obama does happen to fall, we are ALL to conduct ourselves in a professional manner in public. In the privacy of your own home, I EXPECT you to go ape sh*t, but while you’re in the public eye, keep it cool…PLEASE! You already know the authorities are WAITING for us to act a fool, let’s give them an easy night.

Without further ado, I present The Top 10 Things Hip Hop Artists Will Do If Obama Loses…

10. Diddy will have an excuse to yell useless commentary into his MAC book on the 56754435453rd episode of “Diddy TV”….

9. Polow Da Don will yell, on a bullhorn, “Waint A Minute Mothaf*cka”…..

8. Jay-Z will resume charging for his concerts, which will make Memphis Bleek extremely happy since he wasn’t getting paid for all the free shows they were doing over the past 2 months.

7. Foxy Brown will claim she didn’t get to vote because she didn’t HEAR anyone tell her what time her designated polls closed!

6. Kanye West will prepare his impromptu, “John McCain doesn’t care about black people speech” at the January inauguration.

5. Young Buck will call Barack Obama crying apologizing for not supporting him throughout the election. Obama will then sell the recording to 50 thus causing him to use the audio as an intro to his next album.

4. T.I.’s sentence will be extended to 5 years causing McCain and Palin to appear on Saturday Night Live to perform their own rendition of “Whatever You Like” but renaming it to “We Can Do Whatever We Like”.

3. Will. I. Am. will record a new tribute song called, “I Thought We Could”.

2. Yung Berg will come out of hiding thinking everyone’s focused on John McCain, but then bump into Maino, Bow Wow, Trick Trick & Trick Trick’s daughter at a club in Chicago.

1. We ALL wake up and realize it was just a HORRIBLE dream. BARACK OBAMA 08!!!!!

Sincerely

Low “PLEASE TELL ME YOU VOTED…PLEASE?” Key
