Is your life Bulletproof???? To be honest, judging by the chorus, this is one of them joints you listen to when the person to your left, right, front or back is testing your patience. A joint like this would suffice when you feel like you’re up against the entire world and even your own family doesn’t feel like you can survive the battle.

And since everyone’s felt that pain at one time or another, I believe a majority of you will heart this joint to the max. Don’t ask me where this tune is from because I have the slightest clue. However, I can tell you that this WILL in fact stay on repeat once someone feels the need to piss me off, lol. Hot 97 takes over Nassau Coliseum! What would a holiday season be without Young Jeezy running out in the middle of Angie Martinez introducing his set, Ludacris bringing out Busta Rhymes for an impromptu performance of, “Scenario” or almost receiving 3rd degree burns from T.I.’s pyrotechnics at the start of his set?

Saturday, Angie Martinez, DJ Enuff and Cipha Sounds hosted Hot 97’s, Holiday Bash at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island with performances from Nina Sky, Ryan Leslie, Jim Jones, Kid Cudi, Juelz Santana, Ludacris, Young Jeezy, Busta Rhymes, Ron Browz and T.I.

Though I’ve seen each artist perform at least 3 times since taking this job, I can tell you standing 3 feet away from the stage gives you a COMPLETELY different vibe (I.E. getting water thrown on your camera, having fire sparks fly 2 inches past your upper lip). BIG BIG BIG shouts are in order for Lesley Hope from N’Somniatic Entertainment Group and Big League Entertainment, who produced the show!

And you know what the best part about all of this is, I don’t have to talk you to death about who performed (I’ll save that for the other side of town, lol), I can easily show you, below. ENJOY!

Luda, Nasir and Hova “Do It For Hip Hop” Maybe if this didn’t come out with tags last week, I might be a wee bit more excited than I am right now. Anyway, Luda worked his magical southern fairy dust and managed to get Nasir and Hova on his album together saluting the many reasons they do it for hip hop.

Now maybe I’m being a bit judgmental, but isn’t the “I love hip hop” commentary becoming a bit redundant? I’m sure it is, but once it comes from our favorite artists, the pass is given and we’re once again subjected to the obvious. Dah well, it’s still great to hear these three FINALLY on a track together. “I Do It For Hip Hop” derives from Luda’s new album, Theater of the Mind, which is slated to hit stores November 24th, alongside Kanye’s, 808’s & Heartbreak. As always, your exclusive tunage is brought to you by the good folks of B.E.T. T-Pain’s circus just might be the greatest show on EARTH!

A funny thing almost happened before last night’s show; my ass almost didn’t get in. Last week when I received the invite, I quickly responded to the respective email, only to be told “This list is CLOSED”. “Noooooooooooooo” I screeched in agony, (I was asked politely to shut the hell up moments later) this can’t be….I will NOT miss the party. So, like a 16 year old brat whose older sibling wouldn’t let him play Playstation causing him to run to his mother so she could override the decision (I hate my sister, lol), I quickly hit my boss, who then hit our big boss. To make a long story short, I’m now writing this On Location post, still slightly worn out from last nights festivities.

Not only was the event an album release party, but it also doubled as a free MySpace concert (the line for that entrance made me SICK to my stomach it was so long), which made thing more festive and interesting. After swiping two wristbands from the door lady who I continuously flirted with, (”Can you put that on for me, I’ve had a long day”), Dre and I skated inside, snatched two alcoholic beverages and posted up till the show started.

Bearded women (ugh), two brawny midgets (they scare me) and a brown tender roni poppin her touché on some 6 ft high stilts (Hey pretty lady), T-Pain really turned Hiro into his own personal circus. He opened the set with an explosive, but brief, set to Kanye’s,” Good Life”. And since I was at the bar getting another round, I would’ve missed the opportunity to record Kanye if he actually came out, but he didn’t (WHEEEW!)

Pizzle ran through some more hits (tooo many to name) and even summoned a couple of his superstar brethrens to the stage for some fun. Maino was the first to hit the stage performing, “Hi Hater”(WHAS GOOD,Niles) Then, Diddy, draped in a black bubble coat, pitch black shades and a grey skully, helped Pain serenade the ladies on “Shawty” sans Plies. “Excuse my appearance” explained Circo Obama (Diddy). “But I’ve been running around crazy helping Barack Obama do his thing”. Pain promised Diddy he didn’t have to work, so he retreated backstage to enjoy the rest of the show.

Taking it waaaaay back, TP gave an energetic performance of “I’m Sprung” (I hated that damn song) which drew a surprisingly overwhelming response. Memphitz (he discovered T-Pain), host to BET’s new show, The Deal, came out for a short version of “Pop, Lock and Drop It” (I love doing the G-5 under the influence). Busta and the entire Flipmode Squad showed up to familiarize the audience with his new single, “Arab Money” (*Dead*) and even broke out a tongue twisting performance of “Break Ya Neck”. Pain said at the conclusion of Busta’s set, “I have friends, I have lots of friends”.

Uh ohhhhh…..GAME ON! Stuff like this makes me love my job to the 7523423635th power. So, I was just handed the line up for the 2008 BET Hip Hop Awards, and to be quite honest, this list looks pretty effin AWESOME. As you know, the 2008 BET Hip Hop Awards is going down next weekend at the Atlanta Civic Center (the show is being pre-recorded). Now since I’m the house blogger, I’ll be ripping and running through ATL damn near the entire week of October 13-19, but we’ll talk more about that later, lol

This year’s performers will be, Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Common, NERD, Lil Wayne, T-Pain, The Game, Lady of Rage, Mc Lyte and Yoyo. My only question to that is where the EFFF is T.I.???? Homey just moved 500 plus units and he can’t get a slot??? No worries, I’m sure the network and the KING have something up their sleeve for this years festivities. Here’s some additional about the Awards…..

“Showcasing past and present music icons, BET HIP HOP AWARDS ‘08 takes the competition to a whole new level with scheduled appearances by a slew of hip hop heavyweights including GZA, Wu-Tang Clan, Raekwon, Masta Killa, U-God, Inspectah Deck, and RZA. Adding to the hype, rapper Jadakiss will pump up the crowd as celebrity announcer, while the famed DJ Drama spins all night. A special tribute will also be paid to female pioneers in hip hop who have paved the way for women in a predominantly male industry.”

And since I’m not sure whether or not I can announce the line up for their infamous hip hop awards cipher, just know it’s going to be dope, to say the least!

For more info on the 2008 BET Hip Hop Awards, slide over here….NOW!

Sincerely

Swag; Who has it and who DOESN’T!*Disclaimer*

B.Fleezy aka Breezy aka I Got Opinions About Opinions is BAAAAAACCCK!

This past summer I promised myself that I would never ever (ever, ever) use the word “swagger” again. Like so many other terms in black vernacular, it seemed swagger had literally took on a life of its own. I was fed up. People were no longer being judged on the content of their character, but instead on how much swag they had.

It all reminded me of the final scene in Juice when Omar Epps’ character is told “you got the juice now.” Swagger is “the juice” version 2008 and everyone ( and they momma) thinks they have it. Now I admit, I have used the “s” word once or twice. Upon seeing a guy that by all standards is not attractive, I have said things such as “ yeah his eye is kind of lazy, but he has swag.” So when I made the resolution to retire the term, it was in many ways, the first step to recovery.

I admitted I had a problem, and I vowed to fix it. And then something happened. The track Swagger Like Us happened. T.I., Kanye, Jay-Z and Lil’ Wayne happened. Sampling a line from M.I.A’s Paper Planes, this hip-hop quartet makes a seemingly undeniable claim in one of the hottest songs this fall- no one has swagger like them. Of course Jim Jones would beg to differ, but I’m really more interested in what you think.

Who, in the music industry, has the most swagger? I know.. I know.. by asking this question I am perpetuating usage of the word, but hey- if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Swag on playa… swag on.

Sincerely

B “The word has now been laid to rest” Fleezy

Five big dogs prep their 4th quarter offerings, who’s coming out on top?? Talk about clash of the titans, 5 of hip hop’s brightest stars are gearing up to thrash the industry with a flurry of new music, so much in fact, we all might get lost in transition. With November right around the corner, the first arsenal of new material released will come from the vocoder vocalist himself, T-Pain. Three Ringz,(November 11) from what we’ve heard thus far, is blanketed with features (Chris Brown, Ludacris, Lil Wayne). And though that doesn’t read badly about the project, it does give us the ambiance of collaborative effort instead of a solo one.

Next up to bat; Ludacris (Theater of the Mind) and Kanye West (808’s and Heartbreak)! An interesting match up, to say the least, these two outspoken MC’s probably have no intentions of creating a malicious throw down against one another, but I’m pretty sure, given the competitive nature of both parties, Luda and Ye are both looking to knock each others heads off come November 25. “Love Lockdown”, Ye’s first single that’s accumulated “Yeh and Neh” sentiments, has solidified a #3 place of residence on the BillBoard 100 chart for the past three weeks (the single was also released three weeks ago) while Luda’s first offering, “What Them Girls Like” co-starring Sean Garrett and Chris Brown, currently resides at #49.

Finally, President Carter and Curtis “Interscope” Jackson (50 Cent you guys, damn lol) plan to heat up December with their respective releases! Jay, who will roll out the Blueprint 3 red carpet on December 2, has remained mum about his project, but what we do know is Kanyeezy has strong armed the production duties from Timbo Tha King and won’t let go until Jay says uncle.

Fiddy, who’s releasing Before I Self Destruct on December 9, on the other hand, hasn’t said a word about what’s cooking in the G-Unit kitchen. We’ve heard minor rumblings about him, Dre and Em playing footsies in the studio last weekend, but that didn’t reveal much about none of their projects. However, I did manage to find out that 50 is planning to release a cut this week with production duties by both, Dre and Scott Storch (hmm, interesting).

With saying ALLL of that, out of what we’ve heard so far, what album are you copping/downloading/bootlegging this fourth quarter and why????

Sincerely
