Detox…..DONE???

June 27th, 2008

WHAT??? Did I read correct…Detox is COMPLETE???? Word around town is that the LONG AWAITED Dr. Dre, Detox LP, has finally been wrapped up….well, according to Snoop Doog it has. Though we’ve heard many of time that this album was closed to being finished or actually completed, this is the highest any artist affiliated with Dre spoke of the project. Snoop told Rollingstones.Com, “I was starting to doubt it myself and then I went up in there and he played so much music for me it knocked my head off. I see what he got them waiting for, it’s on and poppin’,”

Not only is Dre prepping the release of the most HIGHLY anticipated album of our hip hop chronicles (sorry Wayne), but he’s also applying his golden production touch to Snoop’s next project. YESSSSSS! Snoop and Dre together again! Now only if we can get Jay and Dame back together, this world would be a bit more tolerable.

How long have you SoundOffer’s been waiting for Dre’s, Detox album? Will it live up to the hype or go straight down the drain? It’s still not 3pm, let’s get it cracking ladies and gentlemen!!!

Sincerely

Bad To The Bone…..

June 16th, 2008

According to the LAPD, Shante Broauds, wife to Hip Hop head honcho, Snoop Dogg, was arrested this past weekend for suspicion of driving under the influence. Broadus, 32, was pulled over in Orange County, CA at around 12:15am and was apprehended shortly after.

After being cited for the incident, Broadus was released pending a court appearance in the near future.

Really though??? Who drives drunk anymore????

Sincerely

And The Winner Is…..ROSS!

March 19th, 2008

So I guess Mr. M.I Yayo wasn’t lying, he truly is the BOSS. Coming in at #1 on The BillBoard 200, Trilla, Ross’s sophomore effort, sold 198,000 units edging out hip hop heavy weights Snoop Dogg, whose Ego Trippin project sold an impressive 137,000 units and Fat Joe’s Elephant In The Room sold a meager 46,000 units despite his public disputes with Papoose and 50 Cent (they say beef sells albums, but I guess not in his case).

Not to take anything away from The Boss’s success, but Ego Trippin was a HELL of an album. You can still hear “All I Have In This World”(a song produced by Mannie Fresh from Rick Ross’s Trilla) thumping out the speakers of the TSX!

What album did you pick up last Tuesday, Fat Joe, Rick Ross, or Snoop Dogg….and why? SOUNDOFF PLEAAAASSSEE!

Hollywood Snoop…

March 14th, 2008

I swear, there’s nothing this man can NOT do. From being deemed as one of Hip Hop’s legends all the way down to consistently coaching his children’s pop warner team, this man has accomplished it all. Funny thing is, he’s not even done yet.

ABC’s popular soap opera, One Life To Live has handpicked The Doggfather to personally remix the show’s theme. Snoop will also appear on the show May 8th and 9th to perform two songs from his new album Ego Trippin.

Below you can checkout what Snoop had to say over in our Hip Hop Vs. America Blog…..rather entertaining!

Is Snoop over saturating himself with all his endeavors or are you looking for him to pop up in more places? (Snoop Voice) SoundOff Nephew!!!

Mid Rap Crisis: Do Sales Decline Once Rappers Hit 30?

December 6th, 2007

Is 30 really the new 20? Not likely. At least not when record sales are concerned. Some of rap’s biggest stars have historically reached their commercial zenith shy of their 30th birthday. Eminem (The Marshall Matters LP) and 50 Cent (Get Rich Or Die Trying) were both 28 when they respectively sold 10.1 and 8 million units. Meanwhile, a 29-year-old Jay-Z sold 5.3 million copies of In My Lifetime Vol. 2: Hard Knock Life. Sure, there are exceptions. Kanye West, who turned 30 earlier this year, sold nearly 1 million copies of Graduation in a decaying climate. Common, who struggled with sales in his 20s, is now putting up career high numbers in his 30s. Still, records show that rappers historically hit soundscan slumps at some point after hitting the big 3-0. We’ve pulled records from ten prominent rappers, including Jay-Z, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Nas and others to prove our point.
