The Dream wrote Mariah’s first single, so she decided to sing on his…… I’m going to keep it real with you, I’m not sure how I feel about this one. While it’s always a HUGE achievement to have Mariah twirl around on your single, I somehow developed the feeling that this track was forced. You know how it goes; The Dream wrote her a smash hit, so it was only right she return the favor and give him an even better blessing.

The sound scape to the track is cool, although it sounds like a traditional Tricky beat, it still gets my nodgen knocking. As for the content, ehhhhh. The usual “BabyILoveYouAndImNotGoingAnywhereNoMatterWhatTheHatersSay” banter is secretly starting to turn my stomach, but hey, to each his own.

I’m praying this is the first “OFFICIAL” single from his sophomore Lp, Love Vs. Money, because this is about the 546546656th joint that’s leaked from the big homey. Hey Def Jam, I hope you have something HUGE planned for this guy.

One down, one to go…. So I completely forgot shorty doo wop was dropping her single(s) today, but luckily, I have people in high places (REKA WHAD UP) to smack me on the back of the head when I occasionally slip up on an important occurrence, such as this. Mrs. Carter let loose both of her official offerings to the public today, and so far the responses have been on both sides.

Some like em, others hate em. Me, personally, I wasn’t expecting this (”If I Were A Boy”), at all, but I do find myself head nodding to “Single Ladies” (Big Ups To YBF for the assist) which was produced by Tricky Stewart and The Dream. Sidebar: A little birdie just informed that they may push the album back from its November 18 release date. Do I smell a Husband and Wife showdown?? Stay tuned….

The Dream Speaks On New Album…..

The Dream’s new album is on it’s way! The Dream, one of 2008’s most prolific songwriters, is gearing up to release his sophomore project titled Love Vs. Money. Now as a hardcore Dream advocate, I can tell you I’m definitely looking forward to his project, but I also would like to point out that hopefully alterations are made on production side. Not to say Tricky’s (Tricky Stewart produced a majority of Dream’s project) board play on LoveHate was wack, because “Living A Lie” w/Rihanna, “I Luv Your Girl” and “Falsetto” were extremely dope, but “Nikki” and “She Needs My Love” sound like the same exact song, just with different lyrics.

Anyway, my homey, Z, over at DJBooth.Net scored a dope interview with both Tricky and The Dream. Check out what The Dream had to say regarding his new LP, Love Vs. Money, “This album’s gonna be the same thing – a little more beefed up, I’m just gonna give you more. Every album I’m just gonna try to give you more of me, and what I think about certain things. I think what artists used to be is, why you fell in love with Prince, and Michael, and Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, and all these guys, [is] ‘cause they let you into a certain part of their heart. And it isn’t about, “Man, is the beat hot, is the beat killin’ today?” This album is just gonna be the first album on crack, basically.”

Love Vs. Money is slated for a 2008 winter release.

“Mariah Mayhem” has now begun!! The visual for “Touch My Body” is in heavy rotation on BET. The actual song, which was written by The Dream (who also appears on the remix, which can he heard here) and produced by Tricky Stewart, is spinning from here to Belgium on every pop and urban radio station with an FM signal.

And though some say, “Touch My Body” wasn’t the best choice to lead off E=Mc2 with, her second single, “Migrate” ft. T-Pain, may regain the attention she was looking for from the jump.

Performed on SNL (Saturday Night Live) this past weekend, Mariah debuted the new track, which in fact has spread throughout music blogs like a Southern California wild fire. Though the live performance doesn’t do the song it’s TRUE justice, this may be the hint of a summer smash.

From the live listen, can T-Pain help Mariah claim the clubs this summer, or should they reach back into the stash and roll with another single? Yes, I know it’s Monday, but I did my job….so now do yours……SOUNDOFF!!
