Let’s face it, Ted Lucas is an OG. But if you let him tell it, his humble persona will throw you astray. He’s seen the the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows, but yet, he carries the Slip-N-Slide torch as if it was just handed to him 20 minutes prior to our conversation; with pride and enthusiasm.

I chopped it up with the Slip-N-Slide boss (on THIS side of town as well) about whether or not his current clients (Rick Ross and Plies) would fair well during the golden years of Slipe-N-Slide and his estranged relationship with Trick Daddy. Check out what he had to say….

 “If the artists affiliated with Slip-N Slide today came out during the old Slip-N-Slide days, Rick Ross would’ve sold four million by now, Plies would’ve been at two million going on three million by now and between both of their freshmen debut’s we would be at seven or eight million ten years ago based on these two artists and where they are at material wise and fan base wise. I’m fortunate enough to have two of the hardest out right now.”

Ted Lucas on Trick Daddy….. 

“You have a family member that you don’t get along with everyday, but you still love him. I love Trick, that’s my brother and he might not make some of the wisest decisions with everything he may choose to do, but I still love him. I just got off the phone with him and I’m helping him negotiate his new label, Dunk Ryder records. I want to see him successful, I want to see him make as much money as possible and my door is always open for Trick.”

Rick Ross, Flo Rida, DJ Khaled, and Trina rep the state of Florida in the new issue of XXL. Here’s the cover, in all its…well, stomach.

XXL is definitely ahead of the game, by doing this because Florida seems to be hip-hop’s hot spot of the moment, especially with newcomers like Ace Hood doing their thing. My only question is where is T-Pain! He should definitely have been on the cover, at least over Trina.

Last night, DSA Media Group, Don Pooh Music Group, and LTB Entertainment honored R&B Queen, Mary J. Blige at Spotlight Live in NYC. The extravaganza, which was held in correlation with the Heart Of The City Tour that wrapped up it’s final show at Madison Square Garden last night, brought out the industry’s most elite. DJ Goldfinger took care of the nights musical needs spinning the latest and greatest in  hip hop & R&B.

Unfortunately I (LowKey) was still recovering from my previous rendezvous with the Heart Of The City show Tuesday night, so I didn’t get a chance to attend. Lyor Cohen, who was in attendance last night, said about the event ” Mary J is coming off a successful tour and we had to come out to celebrate. She has a rare, genuine quality and we have to celebrate it. Congrats to Mary J. Blige and congrats to my friends @ DSA Media Group for putting this together.”

Or actually, was she ever the baddest?? Really though. Trina’s new album, Still The Baddest, comes out April 1st. It features the single, “Single Again” (go to her myspace to listen to it). Not sure if Lil’ Wayne really cares, since he upgraded to Lauren London (that relationship is pretty much done too), but she’s really running with this “Single Again” gimmick. What do you think about the song? Her look? Trina, overall? Is she part of the reason that Hip-Hop treats women the way it does? And are her five minutes up? Or is she just a female rapper getting her money and doing it the way she should? Talk about it.
