The Response…..
August 3rd, 2009
It’s REALLY not that deep, but hey he asked for it! *Cues up “Turn My Swag On” (the versions WITHOUT DeAndre)*
Oh DeAndre. Where did we go wrong? Where were the lines of communication dropped? Why did you send the “Comment Goons” to my eDoorstep? Since when was providing an opinion a diss? If I WANTED to diss you, that would’ve been a piece of cake, but that wasn’t my motive nor will it ever because it’s pointless. The hell do I gain dissing you? Go head, I’ll wait.
Let me provide some insight on today’s events because judging by the response on your blog, your perception on this issue seems a bit off base (to me at least) . And who am I to blame you- you’re still young. But, that “young” sh*t is only going to carry you so far, DeAndre (sorry, I’m not calling you Soulja Boy anymore).
First off, let me formally introduce myself (that @BETBlogger moniker is absurd), I’m LowKey. I handle the posting duties around these parts. You might’ve heard of me, you might not- doesn’t matter to me none. I caught wind of your “Rich Nigga Sh*t” blog through a cohort of mine. After viewing the “foolery” (yup, I’m still holding ground) I decided to voice my opinion on the matter. I see that was a problem. Dah well.
You explained in your hissy fit that the “Iced out Lambo” was a gift for your birthday. Ok, cool. I’ll give you that. Matter fact, if you would’ve responded, “In response to the blog about my Lambo chain, it was a bday present. Thanks” in your blog…CHECKMATE- YOU WIN. But no, I guess those other points became a thorn in your ass so you chose to press on. Cool.
I see you sectioned the blog in three “Of All” segments- very creative. I mean personally, I probably would’ve slit my wrist had they been condensed into one mosh pit of a paragraph (Jokes. But seriously, I would’ve).
You started referencing several foundations and charities in which you were a part of. Dope sh*t lil homey- I couldn’t be more happy. But see, this is where I’m confused: how is it you manage to record EVERY “Rich Ni*ga Sh*t” moment you’ve experienced in your career, but not ONE video of any those aforementioned events? See, the thing with us “MEDIA” personalities is, most, not all, of us report and blog about what’s given/sent to us.
If we’re given a “Rich Nig*a Sh*t” episode in which you profusely prove how much “Rich Ni*ga Sh*t” you own, well then by golly we’re going to report on it, DeAndre. Do you think we’re against your charitable donations? Do you think we WANT you to be seen only in the “Rich Ni*ga Light?” Of course not lil homey.
We would love to see video of you hanging out with the children from your community. We would LOVE to see you visiting classrooms, telling kids to stay in school and follow their dreams. We would LOVE to see you coach and not just DONATE money to a little league football team in your hometown. Except, there’s only one problem….YOU DON’T SHOW THAT TO US. What you show is you blowing your nose in $100 bills when you damn well know there’s not one booger in your system. You show us the absurdness that money can buy forcing us to pull your card. Am I wrong?
When there’s a press conference about your new tour or album you sure as hell make it a point to have the media in attendance to cover that, right? So why not the same treatment when you give back to the community? And don’t get me wrong, donating your hard-earned pesos is an outstanding feat, but I think you and I both know it’s the EXTREME generic thing to do. C’mon DeAndre, you’re not an idiot…you know the difference..where’s your charitable creativity?
In response to all the other ish you decided to spew in your blog, I’ll take care of it accordingly. Read below…
“Why not step in when Ice-T was dissing me why not call up and have a sit down to squash that beef. THINK ABOUT IT A 40 YEAR OLD SOMETHING GANGSTA NIGGA VS. A 16 YEAR OLD KID (AT THE TIME).”
“Why not publicize when them niggaz ran in my house and tried to kill me and I had to defend myself and blast they ass. WHY NOT SHOW THAT ON TV???? HUH!????”
I could go on for days and days, but I’m not turning this into a DeAndre Vs. LowKey thing- that’s not what I’m here to do. Soulja, it’s obvious you’re a smart young man. Granted you’re still a young whipper snapper, but you’re still a bright young lad.
Spare me the “America isn’t ready for a young black rich ni*ga” speech because there’ve been PLENTY before you, plenty during you and there will be PLENTY after you. Spare me the “All I grew up seeing was diamondz, money, drugs, fightin, shootin, dancing, basketball and football. real nigga shit that’s all I was around while I grew up!” commentary because it’s the sob story of many, but they DAMN sure don’t use that excuse to splurge and act in such a manner.
Spare all that sh*t playboy. Your past is your past…leave it in the past. Stop bringing it back up every time something happens to you. “I’m from the hood”! SO. THE. EFF. WHAT! You figured out how to finance those prestigious whips you sit in during your “Rich Ni*ga Sh*t” episodes right?
You figured out how to finance a mortgage for that BIG ASS house you parade around in, right? Ok then. Put that same effort and concentration into other things and I’m sure this will be our LAST blogger-to-blogger meeting.
At the end of the day, DeAndre…it’s no love lost home skillet. I’ll still stand on couches when “Turn My Swag On” hits those club speakers. I’ll still tell my significant other to “Kiss Me Through The Phone” when I miss her. And I’ll DAMN sure “Crank That Superman” when the urge hits my body because at the end of the day, all you’re doing is entertaining and having fun…which is what you should be doing.
With that said, when you’re ready to step up and showcase some of your “Mature Rich Ni*ga Sh*t, give me a holla play boy- I’LL BE GLAD TO PUBLICIZE THAT! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m bout to get on my “Chipotle Ni*ga Sh*t” and demolish one of their scrumptious burritos. DEUCES!
Sincerely

Ok ok… this is better. I get both sides but like I said b4 it seemed like u were chomping down on our boy… but I do agree he should show all sides of the brand soulja boy… hood and humble, young… yet mature. Smooches and peace!
I like da class n dat response…well done!
LowKey, it’s Chipotle.
The rest of the post is spelled e-t-h-e-r.
I recommend you a very interesting place http://MillionaireLoving.com It ’s where you have the opportunity dreaming about dating a millionaire and make it true!
It would be smart for him to maybe show himself volunteering to have an influence on others, but when one gives their time to charity or gives money etc.. he or she shouldnt want seek any reward or praise from others so I dont think it would be sincere to video tape himself doing charity work I just think he needs to articulate the importance of charity work.
When I first read Soulja Boy’s response I thought the exact same thing: he never shows that! He never tweets about his charitable contributions or his positive endeavors or talks about it in his live videos nor his music but he’s the first to cry MEDIA FOUL! You don’t like what the media shows? SHOW THE MEDIA SOMETHING DIFFERENT…
Okay, all of this makes sense. And it was nicely written. Just one thing bothers me. You are writing for B.E.T. BET is straight garbage television. How can you focus on a 18 year old boy, when you are showing Keyshia Coles well over 40 mother be “crackish” ? How can you critisize his ” Rich N*gga Sh*t” videos when you have Tiny and Toya running aroung, and replay BabyBoy and Players Club over and over? Soulja Boy doesn’t make videos of his charities? BET doesn’t showcase BLACK people in the right way . I think you should take the time to fix BET before you fix Soulja Boy. And I’m not even a Soulja Boy fan . Sit down and watch the Un-edited BET Awards, THEN write a blog.
sb and his coonery need to leave
Oh my goodness! I agree with this comment word for word. BET is a mess that I choose not to be a part of. The only reason I found THIS posting was because of a friend of mine. Otherwise, I wouldn’t even know who Lowkey was (who sounds a little jealous of S.B if you ask me.) But in any event, BET and all its workers really have no platform to say anything about anyone until they fix themselves. I’m a TVone type of girl myself and hopefully Centric will be better once it comes to air.
Anyway, I agree with whoever made this comment:

I third that notion. BET is a disgrace and has plummeted from being a positive platform in the African American entertainment realm, to basically pimping artists and celebrities. Come on LowKey, BET is a prime example of it all coming down to the almighty dollar. Why else would you play host to such culturally and socially degrading “entertainment”. Be a role model before you start singling out 19 year old young men that are just having a little fun. After all, if he’s been primarily exposed to BET majority of his young life, what in the world do you expect?
ok, here’s my response before reading this:
it’s very easy to quarterback what someone else should do with their millions when you don’t have it. MILLIONAIRES are on a level and have a lifestyle that some of us can only dream about and will never understand because basically, it’s foreign to us. MILLIONAIRES think differently and have a different set of obstacles that usually include major JUDGEMENT, and really, it’s like comparing apples to oranges. So to impose middle class ideals on a millionaire is literally ridiculous. With EVERY judegment, all critics should parallel what they’ve done since they feel they’re worthy to “suggest” how a millionaires money should be spent. Example, he should give a certain amount of his income to charities? Ok, reveal the amount you give to charities. You get the point. It’s much eaiser to “suggest” or judge, whatever you want to call it, when you’re not in the same perdicament.
My point to ALL of this: SHOW BOTH SIDES OF THE FENCE.
And to all of those suggesting I switch what BET showcases or broadcasts, in case you haven’t noticed by now, I’m a WRITER/BLOGGER not a show producer. Once and/or if you ever see my name on a show credit, theeeeeeeeen suggest how I should alter programming. Until then, cease and desist.
Oh and to this statement:
“With EVERY judgment, all critics should parallel what they’ve done since they feel they’re worthy to “suggest” how a millionaires money should be spent. Example, he should give a certain amount of his income to charities? Ok, reveal the amount you give to charities. You get the point. It’s much easier to “suggest” or judge, whatever you want to call it, when you’re not in the same predicament.”
I aint worth a FOURTH of what this lil nugget’s worth and I’ve given back my time and finances to charities in the best way possible. So if MY broke ass can do so, why can’t he? Every time he chooses to record a lavish object that he’s purchased, match it with a charitable donation and show the world your just not a one sided individual. Oh but I forgot he’s still “YOUNG”. Pshhh. I’m done
LowKey
I guess my question is “why does anyone gives 2 ish’s about any of this?” Soulja Boy nor Low Key is gonna give us anything. We will never hang out wih Soulja Boy nor Low Key…..why do you give 2 ish’s?
So if you give your OPINION, like you did LowKey, your comment gets deleted?? Wooow
Soldier Boy,don’t owe lowkey and nobody else no explanation about whether arenot he donate money to charity. If you want to get to this 19yr old, come to him with a positive way.lowkey when you come the way you came, you sound just like a hater.Like soldier boy said, when the old rapper was criticizing him,why nobody intervene.now you want to put this man on blast…….sing it soldier boy…….WHY THEY ALWAYS HATIN ON ME,I AIN’T DO NOTHING………..
Loooovvvvvveeee It! Very well said.
Ever heard of the saying..”its not what you said, its how you said it.” I think SJB was hurt by your opinion.
listen i am a firm believer that a opinion/story once told (by video, blog or otherwise) has as many interpretations as the people who hear/see/watch it…and if the opinion/story is about someone…well that person is going to have a certain interpretation/..obviously he was hurt. dont’ mock him for being human and responding in a “hurt” way….i think media is too desensitized at time.
an opinion is not just an opinion anymore…its fighting words, it can be damaging, it can make or break you spirit, it can mess up your life, it can can cause serious reactions and actions….we forget..HUMANS have EMOTIONS…that cannot be controlled at all times… they hurt and feel attacked when approached in what the see as negative portrayal….so lets go easy on SJB.
I believe Children…yes Children need guidance, they need structure and balance….. that being said the “village” that raised SJB (Parents, TV, School, Media, Past Rappers…) shaped his perception of life. L.I.F.E. think about it…you put all this into him and this is how he turns out….some people become gangsters, murders, some commit suicide, some become terrorists, some become leaders/role models, some become presidents…some become SOULJA BOY!! Point. there are extremes to every experience & personality… Do we excuse him or them. NO. but Whatever inspires/influences us is waht makes us who we are. neither you or SJB is wrong…. but the village and his parents didnt raise him on high morality, character and substance, money management…why punish him with verbal abuse when the real culprits are behind the scenes…where are you father, mother, TV producers, Media, Bloggers, the damage is done the only reversal..IS SELF Control and SELF realization. lets watch this young man grow.. Ponder this …MONEY does not have any TRUE value despite its misleading definition….its made by government and is meant to be spent…on anything you can imagine. if he goes broke tomorrow..aah…well.
minus the thick sarcasm, and overused facetiousness, oh, and slightly offended tone that takes away from the article, there are some good points here.
