Top 10- 10 Things You WON’T See @ The 2009 BET Awards

I can GUARANTEE you will NOT see these 10 things come Sunday night….As the 2009 BET Awards inch closer and closer, we here at BET.com would like to set some ground rules as to what you WILL not see this Sunday. Now I know, award shows are all about the surprises, the theatrics, but at some point, a line has to be drawn…an envelope doesn’t need to be pushed lol.
Of course, with Eminem having another mans tush thrown in his face at the MTV Movie Awards several weeks back, a majority of you are pondering the thought of “What will BET do to top that?” NOTHING- so don’t even ask lol.
I wanted to pump this list out several days prior, but I figured I’d wait till the ceremony got a bit closer. In jest, of course, these 10 items are in no way, shape or form geared to offend anyone at all. And if you’re familiar (you should be by now) with my commentary, you already know I’ve never have. So, without further ado, I present, The Top 10 Things You Will NOT See At The 2009 BET Awards. ENJOY!
10.) You will not see Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz confess their undying love for each other (i.e. hit the red carpet together). With Swizzy putting a GAG order on Ms. Keys about the aforementioned issue, I’m pretty sure the two will sit on opposite sides of the auditorium. Hell, they might even go as far as arriving with their own dates. Smh, whatever happened to black love.
9.) You probably won’t see Drake announce his label home since I pretty much did it for him on this side of town. Not trying to burst his “Surprise I signed with..” bubble, but that information pretty much fell into my lap so I had no choice but to let it ooze all over the BET Awards Blog. Was I wrong?? Wouldn’t care if I was.
8.) You probably won’t see me present an award holding a Coldstones Bang Bang Boogie Milkshake while wearing an exclusive pair of SB Blazers with one of the SEXIEST Hanes White-Tee Shirts in the HISTORY of Hanes Apparel. All while standing next to Keri Hilson who has her hand in my back left pocket humming the melody to “Make Love” while we walk to the podium as she attempts to watch my sodium. And this WON’T happen only because I missed 67567657 flights Friday morning, afternoon and night because US Airways thought it would be funny to film their new reality series “Punked: The Delayed & Canceled Flights” Edition.
7.) You damn sure won’t see Rihanna and Chris Brown sitting next to each other. I’m not saying you won’t see them at the awards at all, I’m just guaranteeing you will NOT see them arrive or sit anywhere remotely close to each other.
6.) You DEFINITELY will not see any stabbings, open hand slaps, chain snatching, gun toting or weave pulling activities anywhere inside The Shrine Auditorium. I don’t care how ghetto some of these artists and their “Yes Men” maybe, I REFUSE to tolerate ANY tom foolery of the sort. And if i do…..you can bet your ASS I’m popping off on someone lol. I didn’t camp out in 3 airports over the past 48 hours to witness a bunch of FUC*ERY.
5.) You will not see or hear Lil Wayne announce bringing another crumb snatcher into this world. Assuming the rumors about him knocking up Lauren London and Nivea are valid, he’s PROBABLY doing his best to stay away from any podium tomorrow night.
4.) You will not see or hear “Auto-Tune”. See #5 for reason why.
3.) You will NOT see Shawn Corey Carter sporting THIS. I, along with everyone else who is a fan of grooming, can and will NOT tolerate this anymore. We love Jay like our very own, but it’s just not fair to our eyes, his scalp and mankind. Please Jay………..PLEASE! If you hit that stage with THIS, I just might lose it lol.
2.) You will not see Shanaynay land ass up in the lap of Young Jeezy, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, The Clipse, Pharrell, T-Pain, Soulja Boy, Nelly, Ludacris, Ne-Yo, Rick Ross, Kanye West, Fabolous or any other male hip hopper. And if you DO, I strongly suggest you DUCK!
1.) You WILL NOT see Jamie Foxx lip locking with Debra Lee. I know Foxx is the host and that pretty much gives him the green light to push every envelope, but like I said before, we’re doing this a bit different. Fantasia was shocking, Halle Berry made the male species envious, but Debra Lee???????????????? NOW THAT’S JUST WRONG!

BET you owe the viewing public an apology for such an awful show. The BET Awards looked like it was produced by a bunch of 8 year old children. Who ever was in charge of producing this show needs to be fired on the spot. What a disgraceful way to honor an Icon. You need to redeem yourself and put on another show that honors Michael Jackson in a more thoughtful and respectful way. He deserves it. If it wasn’t for Michael BET would not be around.

I watched the BET show and WEPT. I was so embarrassed .The world was watchin and instead negroes acted a FOOL. jamie foxx can kiss his career and ass goodbye. white america is saying….. ya’ll can have jamie and michael…. BET instead of you having control over the show.. you let hoodie lil hood rats run the show- just like they run our neighborhoods. i will never watch another BET awards show -EVER and will encourage other black people to do so,.. cant call it racism … call it accountablitilty.
I wish BET had died instead and Michael was paying tribute to them.
I looked at the awards and was so glad in was for Mr. Jackson The King Of so much, however Jammie Fox (who I like) did not make me proud.He said he had been drinking before the show i thought it was a joke but he must have been telling the truth. The intent of the show was great it didn’t end up that way to me, jmmie fox should be ashamed to have acted that way
BET needs new management and the awards were a disgrace!!!!

Debra Lee and BET should be ASHAMED of what they called a tribute. Hell, MTV could do a better job. I don’t know what’s worse, this buffoonery or Joe Jackson talking about his son as an icon rather than a man who lost his child! Historic event my black behind!!
BET, you have to do MUCH better when it comes to representing your people. I’m officially done with this station and the awards. I thought they would have something better but I should’ve gone with my instincts.

Never thought i would be disappointed in watching bet tribute to Michael Jackson the greatest of all time. Words can not express how much of a let down this was. Although it was done in short notice, you guys did not have the basics covered … like informing your host he was back from commerecial. Is it that much of a recession that you couldn’t hire someone to say that you are back from commcercial. I can go on but i will leave it at that. get it together or you will lose viewers if you haven’t already!
Where do I begin…I first want to say I like HOW BET got their ratings by AIRING ALL OVER THE WORLD that they were going to do a BIG TRIBUTE For MJ….THE SHOW WAS HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE…IT WAS A HOT MESS…AND YOU GUYS TO CONTINUE TO PLAY IT LIKE IT WAS THE BEST SHOW EVER…I KNOW IT WAS SUCH SHORT NOTICE BUT YOU COULD HAVE WAITED FOR A TRIBUTE…THIS WAS A MESS AND WE UNDERSTAND UR RATINGS HAVE BEEN DROPPING SINCE THE FIRST SHOW BUT IT WAS JUST PLAIN WRONG TO MISLEAD POEPLE LIKE IT WAS GOING TO BE A HUGE TRIBUTE AND IT WASNT. SHAME ON YOU BET.. THAT SHOW WAS A MESS
what is going on B-E-T? your class and essence has disintegrated dramatically over the years. here we are paying tribute to MICHAEL JACKSON, the king of music (not only pop) because MICHAEL set the standard for all music & entertainment. i truly hope that you (B-E-T) will rectify this awful calamity and present a proper tribute to the king of music. SHAME ON YOU B-E-T.
I can’t believe chris brown was pulled!!!! I have footage of Jay Z pie facing some lady, Don cornelieus is a known woman beater and T.I is in jail for a felony!!! And you are gonna tell me that Chris Brown Can’t perform!!! That’s hypocritical like a motha!!! Some criminals can perform but others cant? Jay Z is a great rapper but he cant dance or sing (his lala’s where off tune) Chris Brown would have made the show awesome!!! He is the closest as far as dancing skills to Mike. How can we forgive others but not on e of the best!!! Jay Z needs to stop crying Rhianna forgave Chris And He hasn’t!! WTF!! Debora Lee needs to run her network and don’t let theese bitter cats run it for her!! Its time to forgive and forget!!! I love Bet but that award show was missing somethin and I think we all know what it is!!!
The bet awards show always suck but this was the worse awards show ive ever seen in my life. this is Micheal jackson the man that change the world with his music.the one that feed starving kids from africa. THIS IS HOW YALL SHOW RESPECT TO HIM. jamie foxx was a terrible host and he was not funny all he made mike seem like a joke.kerri hilson was doing some elvis stuff. and do get me started on lil wayne. bet……the boondocks are right,yall are a disgrace to black people.
I have been wrestling all week with how to express my sheer disappointment in recent BET awards, however in reading all of the previous posts I am so glad that I am not the only one who thinks that the show was disrespectful for lack of a better word. I normally do not watch award shows, but I chose to watch this time because I was looking foward to what I THOUGHT would be a tribute to Michael Jackson. I must say that as an African American I was deeply embarassed by the show and I truly hope that someone from BET is responsible enough to offer some sort of apology to the Jackson family.
This was the worst…it was three hours of my life that I will never get back. It was at it’s best a total embarrassment!!! It was the Ghetto Freak Show. I thank God for my DVR so I could fast forward all the disgraceful garbage. WORST SHOW EVER!!!!!!!
deborah lee, and the entire staff at BET should be ashamed of themselves for that titanic waist of time they called the BET awards!! Wow arguably the worst awards ceremony ever telecast. Considering the greatest entertainer of all time has jus passed away you would think that black folks could get it right and pay homage.But No! U call that a tribute? To the King of Pop? Im sure MTV will get it right. Shame, shame, shame! If this is what black entertainment television has come to then count me out.

The show was pretty good. I realize B.E.T. has got to aim for the kids who are listening and buying . The fuel the machine. While B.E.T. also had to keep us old people happy. It is a hard thing to balance the two. Wish they’d have let Chris Brown perform, would’ve liked to see audience reaction to him. Jay-Z has the power though. As for Beyonce, beautiful woman, beautiful voice, great dancer. Please-stop. She’s become the Annette Funicello of the 21st century. Would have liked to have heard one of either song she gave us a piece of. One other thing. Who dresses that child? On and off stage that kazillionaire needs help. Well at least it didn’t turn into a Tyler Perry lovefest. Have to wait for the NAACP Awards for that honor, eh? Hey great idea having the child abuser represent the Jackson clan. All in all the show didn’t have too many squirm in my seat moments. Congratulations.
Thank you BET, so much for giving many more reasons not to watch your channel EVER AGAIN. Thanks to you, I don’t even watch music videos anymore because all of this CRAP MUSIC, they are releasing today. Can you say, LACK OF SUBSTANCE? My future children will not be exposed to such non-sense EVER. I’m 22, and I can’t believe how horrible the music industry is today. Black Entertainment Television, my behind. Where is your self respect? You are giving a lot of these non-talent people so much credit, while the actual real talent is being overlooked. Sometimes, I wish was born earlier, so I could experience when music actually meant something. The BET Awards show BOMBED, its efforts to pay tribute/homage to Michael Jackson was the most unsucessful event in my life. I simply coudn’t indure anymore torture watching that spectacle, you considered an award show, and tribute to the greatest person of all time. R.I.P. Michael Joseph Jackson (I), the GREATEST ARTIST OF ALL TIME, and all other fallen angels. Please show some respect! P.S. Please excuse if I misspelled anything and/or left any words out.
