Busta’s, “Arab Money” Gets DJ Suspended?!?!?

December 3rd, 2008

Arab Money causes trouble for UK DJ????

Now I know a couple of people have been ridiculing the tune for its harsh gestures towards the Islamic culture, but what happened over in the UK just might make its way over to the states. Word to the Mirror in UK, a DJ has been suspended for spinning Busta’s hit tune, “Arab Money”. Galaxy FM, a radio station which broadcasts in Birmingham and Yorkshire, suspended resident DJ, Steve “Smooth” Sutherland, after receiving a number of complaints after the song was aired.

A spokesman from the station said, “Both the DJ and producer have been suspended pending a full inquiry.” Aint that some ISH???? Look what you did, BUSTA!!!! SMH

Watch out U.S. DJ’s, you know this could trickle down to you guys SOON ENOUGH!

What do you guys think???? Is “Arab Money” too offensive to be playing on public airwaves????

Here in Ghana. The DJ’s are spinning it like it’s nobody’s business. I don;t think it’s an offensive track. What happened to creativity.

Real talk, how could Arabs be offended by this song? Sounds like a compliment to me.If Busta came up with a song talking about Dominicans being good at baseball or cooking some mean rice and beans I’d say word that’s true big ups to Dominicans. He’s just saying what everybody already knows. Most Arabs got mucho mucho cake. It is what it is. Deal with it. Not a bad reputation to have by the way.

I dont think that this song is offensive. Busta made a song that I actually like, considering the fact that I dont like rap!

First off arabs/muslims aint concerned about what is said about them…lol..why would they?? hmmm…..’arab money’-they do be making a load of ££££….lol

BUT, whats made them pissed, is BEACUSE quranic verses have been used!!..

im sorry but a load of ya’z keep saying freedom of speech this & that, but i dont know if any if ya’z have religion in your life, :$
but many muslims/arabs do and its disrespectful to be using holy verses in a song, regardless if its for pro-islamic music!

whats said in the quraan is sacred! recognise that!!!!!!!
salaam xxxx

I have said that this song is a litttle out of line since the first time I heard it. I don’t think its so much the reference to the riches and wealth and SOME middle eastern people as it is the vocal sample of the man in the background speaking “arabic”. I think that’s what’s causing the stir. I think Busta should definitely consider doing a radio edit that doesn’t contain that portion of the track. Therefore its not offending anyone listening on the radio and people who don’t agree with his methods don’t have to buy the LP version. After all, freedom of speech is an American right.

The song isn’t just a little out of line, it’s WAY out of line… now, does that mean it’s not a good song? No. In fact, I really like the song, but I know how to seperate rhetoric and reality. Another Busta song said “DON”T TOUCH ME NIGGA” does that mean I walk around shouting that and acting like a damn fool? No.

WOW!, dont mix music with religion especially if its not your faith. Those who think the chorus is not offensive are just plain ignorant !! the chorus has nothing to do with ARAB MONEY. Not all arabs are muslim, so not every arab will take offense to it. why make a song that is complimenting ALL arabs yet insulting ALL arab muslims!? _FREEDOM of SPEECH is different then mimicking ones belief in a song!!

KEEP IT. im arab and i like it. people jus take it to seriously & its funny too,

The Qur’an tells you to do the opposite of everything Busta Rhymes boasts on about things like, gambling, crime, money, drinking…etc! Heard the way they mixed it up? It sounds so different to the way it would be pronounced in the Qur’an, almost as if it’s taking the mik!!

I’ve heard that Busta rhymes himself is a muslim, I’m a muslim but I DO NOT see that as racism, yes, even though he incorporated the Qur’an’s words with his song…I don’t think he would set out to damage his reputation from one of the FASTEST GROWING RELIGONS IN THE WORLD! After all he is one of the biggest most successful names in hip hop!

busta rhymes, dont get me wrong I am one of your fans …i see were they coming from about we getting arab money … what if somebody say we getting busta ryhmes money you will get mad too but keep what you doing and dont for get im your fan ok

The reason why Arabs are upset about this song isnt because of the name its because of the chorus which uses some words from the Quran. In Islam it is prohibited to sing the words of the Quran in song, so its technically mocking their religion. Do your reasearch!

^^theres no words from the Quran in the chorus, its just jibberish, and thats why its offensive as they’re not even saying anything, if this song was aimed at the chinese culture the chorus would be “ching chang chong ching” thats how ignorant it is!

HANNAH Said on

why is every one in here not getting the actual point…the BIG AND MAIN reason is not the song itself..we KNW THE CHORUS IS JIBBRISH…its just that in the remix of it they use two sentences from the QURAN ,,,and like “Correction” said : In Islam it is prohibited to sing the words of the Quran in song, so its technically mocking their religion……………..

SO ITS NOT THE SONG ITS THE BEGINING OF THE REMIXED SONG!!!!
THE TWO SENTENCES USED AT THE START………………

MaariyaM Said on

As a muslim I can honestly say that I like the song but it is wrong. I love busta but he should have research. If he would have done that he would have found out that it’s prohibited in islam to used Allah’s name in a song or to curse his words.

1amWill Said on

It’s the remix thats caused the offence. Busta’s suposed to be a 5% Muslim – translation part-timer, so HE SHOULD know better and the DJ like all people in the media has got a responsibility to do their frekkin’ research!! Perhaps if the actually listened properly to the song instead of kissing up Busta’s ass cos he’s rich & famous he migt have kept his job. Oh it’s Busta, I gots ta play him he rich and famous!!? They both PLAYED themselves SUCKAS!

Abdul Haqq Said on

The remix of this song is the problem. In the original song the hook is jibberish arabic. But the remix hook is bismillah ar rahman ir rahim alhamdulillahi rabbil al ameen which is in the name of Allah the benificent the merciful all praise is due to Allah the lord of the worlds. These are the first few verses of al fatiha which is the first chapter of the quran. In islam quranic verses are not supposed to be used in music or to be sung. Especially in a song talking about liquor gambling, etc. Busta and others on this track say they are muslims, shouldn’t they know this? I am not hating on anyone just tired of seeing islam misrepresented.
