Sup folks. As I’ve said a few times already, last night’s episode of Sunday Best 3 was intense having to lose 4 singers! One of the most interesting and dare I say from your comments, most controversial with Franklin Davis, IV! I was honestly a little sad to see him go, but like I always say when we get to this point, anybody who goes home is going to be GOOD, so we have to suck it up. But, like Tawanna, I wanted to give Franklin a proper send off and allow him to speak you in his own words. I think you’ll appreciate what he has to say whether you loved him, his hair…. or not…

The RockSpel Truth
God is Amazing! But seriously, who would have imagined that the black guy with a vintage 80’s Mohawk and the mesh glove would turn out to really love the Lord Jesus? Who could have imagined that the secular music cultures of Nat King Cole, Michael Jackson, John Legend and Prince could be used to advance the Kingdom of God? And so…I am indebted to God for taking a chance on using something a little edgier, somewhat avant-garde, and yet seriously sold out to give Christians and potential Christians a relaxed approach to living saved; me.
The Sunday Best 3 cast is a group of friends. Some of us are the friends that never argue and finish each other’s sentences; while some of us are friends that arm-wrestle every other word – either way, a great bunch. Watching the top 10 on screen is incredible but what’s captivating is knowing them! So, did you know…
Brian W. Smith is the 3rd person I have met in my life with perfect pitch. He can tell you what chord a hair dryer hums.
Orlando Wright is my fellow thespian! When he sings I just want to start dancing; but in place so I don’t miss anything!
Martha Buries makes me want to sit at her feet like Jesus’ and listen then cry. I love her voice and heart.
Dathan Thigpen is the coolest cat. Nah, he’s a beast on the freestyle singing too. This dude sang about my dog , Dolce… Youtube soon.
Tawanna Tarvin is a good girl! Like for real! She is one of the best singers I know. So humble, So peaceable, So good!
Durward Davis and I think that we have a distant relative that’s lying about the family tree! We’re bros! He owns power house singing and skill!
Leandria Johnson and I met in the New Orleans auditions. She is ridiculous on freestyle singing. Give her a topic; number 1 hit. I cry when I hear her sing.
David Wilford is brilliant! This dude is a master student of the word and OT history. Vocals; sick! Placement;fool!
Tiffany Carlin-Laird cracks me up. She got jokes ya’ll! When she sings I ‘wanna’ be baptized again, in a river. HOLY! Lol!
Goldwire McClendon is another practical joker! He says “Top of the morning,” every morning in a British accent! A true musical genius.
So, that’s Sunday Best for me guys. It was a perfect experience. Thanks to each of you that pray, push and believe in me. There’s more to this story ya’ll. It’s a “To be continued” type of thing. Sunday Best isn’t for everyone but Jesus is. You can win with HIM right now.

I can really appreciate the truth that Franklin offered in his piece. As much as we like to think we know and understand, we’ll never truly know all that God is doing and with that we can’t decide who he uses and what they’ll look or sound like! Thank Franklin for being “transparent” (churchy talk ) and sharing. I’m always excited about change in our industry and I think you’re one of the people that will help bring it.
So folks, you’ve got to hear from “mohawk man” himself? What did you think?
