Listen Up!: Y’Anna – “I Believe”

Sup folks.
So for the last year or so, all of us have been waiting (and some not so patiently) for the release of Sunday Best Season 2 Winner Y’anna Crawley’s debut CD. Well, it’s officially HERE, well not right now but next Tuesday on August 24, her new album “The Promise” will be available in stores and online EVERYWHERE!
To celebrate and get you ready for this release, I’ll be playing a song a day until the CD releases next Tuesday to give you a taste of what she’s been working on. Are you ready for Y’Anna?
Today’s featured track is “I Believe” produced by Lou “Buster” Brown of production duo Buster & Shavoni. On this track, Y’Anna showcases her some of her “edge.” Sometimes in gospel, young artists sometime are forced to somewhat “deny” their youth to keep the saints happy. We’re all guilty of it. Well on “I Believe” I think Y’Anna does a good job of keeping it current and still showcasing the fact that she can holler with the best of them. It’s gospel r&b with just enough hip-hop to keep it youthful and fun. To use a ridiculously OVERUSED (but appropriate here) term, Y’Anna and this track have “swagger.” (I’m gonna punch myself in the face for using that word and regret it deeply later, but I’m not looking back!)
