TGIP: Over & Over – Vashawn Mitchell featuring Kim Burrell

Hey folks. It’s been a busy week and I feel like I’ve neglected the blog a little. Don’t be mad. Smile. Ha!

Aside from a busy week it’s also been a rather “heavy” week. There have been moments where I’ve had to look God straight in the face (figuratively, lol) and say “ummm, Wow, ok, you ain’t playing huh?” Not necessarily bad stuff either, just ummm…. “heavy.”  Depending where you are in your life or your “walk” with God (churchy!) you usually run up against 1 of 2 things. 1.) You get comfortable with/in a thing and want to just keep on doing what you’re doing because it’s working and it feels just fine. Or… 2.) You become frustrated with where you are and begin to wonder “what’s next” because you either feel stagnant or even bored.

But every now and then you a hit combination of 1 and 2 and you’re really thrown for a loop. You’re fine with where you are but deep down you know there’s more. What can make things even more complicated is when you know what that thing is and want to pretend or hope that it isn’t. A case of: “I know there’s more but if it’s THAT, I don’t want it, I’ll stay right here! I’m good Jesus!” (Ha!) Especially when you think you’re totally not qualified.  So yeah, the week’s been that kind of heavy. I won’t even get into the rest of it where in the midst of this, someone spoke to me and confirmed the very things I guess you could say I did NOT want to hear but needed to. *whoosh* Don’t get it twisted, I’m still figuring things out, shaking my head, going “huh?” and all that but the one thing I’m SURE about is God is setting it all up the right way so I’m just gonna go with it.

So all of that made me remember a song that i love from Vashawn Mitchell’s last CD “Promises” which was written by Jason Clayborn (remember him?) and thought I’d share it with you. It’s called “Over and Over” and features the magnificent Kim Burrell on the lead and it speaks directly to this situation. And without fail, when I have these moments, they ALWAYS apply to someone else too so whoever else this is for, go in! Click play and tell me what you think.
