Had To Share: “Spiritual” – Donald Lawrence (@DonaldLawrence)Published by Torrence Glenn on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 5:53 pm.
How do I begin this… Well ummm, so Donald Lawrence & Co. have a new CD coming out round about May or so… (In the music business, with a release date that far off, nothing is ever “final” so that’s why I say “round about/or so.”) And there’s an official single out right now, one that I played here called “YRM: Your Righteous Mind.” And we LOVE IT. And so umm yeah allegedly, there are some other songs on the CD and I’ve heard a few (allegedly) as some tracks have “mysteriously” found me… allegedly. (Go with it, OK?)
And there is one I really want you to hear… alledgedly….LOL.
“Spiritual,” a possible follow-up to YRM is one masterpiece of a song. It features the amazing Blanche McAllister and I literally almost quickened myself into the NYC subway tracks this morning listening to it. (No, seriously, it was a mess. Imagine that news report. “Gospel blogger dies in a supposed Holy Ghost frenzy, must not have been living right.” Ha!) I could go on and on about everything that’s good about this song, but it’s better if you just listening. And just wait til the bridge and vamp. The song goes from “soulful swag” (hate that word but somehow it fits) to classy church (think Richard Smallwood, Hawkins, Crouch.) Ok, that’s enough. I probably shouldn’t talk too much about it, because this song doesn’t technically exist, right? Allegedly….
