TGIP: “Please Don’t Forget” – Coko (@only1coko)

Sup folks!
I say it in jest a whole lot lot, but time and time again, my iTunes library and iPod have proven themselves more than a few times to be rather “anointed.” (Hence why I call it the iPostle.) The right song always plays at the right time; good, bad or otherwise. Today was no exception and I figured I’d share with you guys.
“Please Don’t Forget” was a track on Coko (from SWV)’s debut gospel CD “Grateful.” The song speaks to how we view God and how we prioritize him in our lives (or not..). The song is sung in God’s “voice” and he simply asks “Please don’t forget about me.” Now although I in no way think we can compare ourselves or the love we give to our friends and loved ones to God (although we should try to love like he does), I think we can all attest to having shown love to someone and having your intentions minimized or mistreated. Or better yet, completely misunderstood.
It’s a tough pill to swallow and almost feels like a slap in the face. You think to yourself “really, you treat me like that when I’ve been this to you and for THAT?” Yeah, it’s a real tough space to be in, and if God feels anything like I feel when it happens to me, whew, I repent! So take a listen to Coko’s “Please Don’t Forget” (and revisit the entire CD when you have a chance) and tell me what you think. It got me together today.
