EXCLUSIVE: Kim Burrell & Israel Houghton to host 13th BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards Luncheon

Time moves too fast. How do I know? Because it doesn’t seem like it’s been a whole year that has passed since I was in Nashville for Stellar Awards Weekend. But apparently, it’s been about that long. The BMI Trailblazers Of Gospel Music Awards Luncheon is arguably the most sought after and talked about events of the weekend. (Unofficially the Stellar Awards is the equivalent of the Grammy’s Clive Davis Party, there are some artists who attend the luncheon and don’t even stay for the actual Stellar Awards…And oh yeah, invites are hard to come by. ) For the last 12 years, BMI has put on a first class event honoring the very best and most accomplished in gospel music and 2012 will be no different. This year’s honorees are choirmaster Hezekiah Walker and the best selling gospel artist of all time, Kirk Franklin! Performers for these sure to be amazing tributes haven’t been announced yet, but what I was the first to know is that the host for this year’s event are Kim Burrell and Israel Houghton! The luncheon will take place (church talk) on Friday, January 13 at Rockettown in Nashville, TN.
I will most definitely be in the building and hope to see you there. And if not, stay tuned for more info about when and where it will air on TV.
