The 46th Annual GMWA Kicks Off This Weekend in CincinnatiPublished by Torrence Glenn on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 9:08 pm.
The Gospel Music Workshop Of America (GMWA) will convene it’s annual convention at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati, OH. (I used convene and convention right behind each other in the same sentence. I’m sure my 8th Grade English teacher is sitting somewhere angry.) The Convention goes down, July 20-26.
GMWA welcomes Bishop J. Drew Sheard (of The Sheards) to the Sunday Holy Consecration service and from Monday through Thursday, the early morning “Daily Bread” ministry services will feature Bishop Neal Roberson, Bishop Rance Allen, Dr. Frederick D. Haynes III and Dr. Jamal H. Bryant.
The week- long events will kick off with the 2013 community initiative “GMWA Serves” to help support local residents of the community in the surrounding Cincinnati area. There will of course be the legendary “Midnight Musicals” featuring some of today’s popular gospel artists including: John P. Kee, Anthony Brown & Group Therapy, Jessica Reedy, VaShawn Mitchell, Earnest Pugh, Isaac Carree, Tasha Cobbs and many more! In addition, the “New Artist” showcase series is back by popular demand and will be held during the afternoon session on Tuesday and Wednesday and here’s an exclusive; I’ll be one of the judges/commentators in this year’s New Artist showcase.
Another highlight are the “Nightly Youth Musicals” featuring young and cutting edge gospel artists from across the country, including: Joshua Rogers, Alexis Spight, Charles Butler & Trinity & JJ Hairston, and more .
This is really just the tip of the iceberg as anyone who’s been to GMWA knows that the action NEVER stops. At any given hour of the day or night you can find a concert, workshop or meeting to attend. I missed last year but I’ll be there after a short vacation next week, will I see ya?
