Torrence’s Talk with Maurette Brown-Clark

Published by Torrence Glenn on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 5:50 pm.

Maurette-Brown-Clark-3-400x400

Y’all said y’all wanted stuff everyday so here I am! Ha!

A few weeks ago, Maurette Brown-Clark stopped by to talk about her new CD “The Sound Of Victory” and we had a good time and got to jump into some other things; including how she describes her sound and why I always call her voice sneaky. You gotta watch to see what I’m talking about! Read the rest of this entry »

Hey folks!

As we gear up for Season 5 of Sunday Best, I got to sit down with Amber Bullock, the winner of season 4. She talked about life after the show, the recording process and we even sing a little bit. You just gotta see it to know what I’m talking about. Ha!

Note, we shot this video late last year so when I say her full CD will be out next year, I mean this year! Read the rest of this entry »

2011 – Yes, No, Maybe? Part 1

Published by Torrence Glenn on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 7:50 pm.

Sup folks. I can’t believe that it’s been another year already. What’s so funny is that when I started this blog in March of 2009, the goal was to give some commentary on the second season of Sunday Best and that was about it. After the finale, it was supposed to be shut down and perhaps come back with the next season but somehow that didn’t happen. You all kept reading and and I kept writing (or at least trying to…) So the fact that we’re down another year and it’s time for another “Yes, No, Maybe?” post is really blowing minds…

What’s even funnier is that I had no intention of doing one of these this year. I said to myself, if someone mentions it, I’ll do it but if they don’t, we’ll just slide out of 2011 and go into 2012 nice and quietly… But then my buddies over at NuthinButGospel.com called me out on twitter and asked when my year end review was going up. Dang them!!!! And then folks started retweeting and so forth and so on and here we are…. grrrr. So let’s just do it! And of course, we start with the “Yes’.” Read the rest of this entry »

EXCLUSIVE: Kim Burrell & Israel Houghton to host 13th BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards Luncheon

Published by Torrence Glenn on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 11:27 am.

Trailblazers host mashup

Time moves too fast. How do I know? Because it doesn’t seem like it’s been a whole year that has passed since I was in Nashville for Stellar Awards Weekend. But apparently, it’s been about that long. The BMI Trailblazers Of Gospel Music Awards Luncheon is arguably the most sought after and talked about events of the weekend. (Unofficially the Stellar Awards is the equivalent of the Grammy’s Clive Davis Party, there are some artists who attend the luncheon and don’t even stay for the actual Stellar Awards…And oh yeah, invites are hard to come by. ) Read the rest of this entry »

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Ok, not yet, we got another day to go but I’m already excited because ummm I love to eat. I’ve learned to accept this. Ha!

So since I’ll be eating obscene amounts of food tomorrow, I’m bring you these two treats a little early. We’ve been premiering new music form Sunday Best 4 Winner Amber Bullock for the last few weeks as we countdown to the release of her EP “Thank You” on December 6 and this week is a “twofer.” Read the rest of this entry »

Torrence’s Take On Bishop Noel Jones and LisaRaye

Published by Torrence Glenn on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 10:58 pm.

Noel-Jones1Today (Monday, November 21) the internet went crazy (and understandably so) with news of a rumor that the Bishop Noel Jones (Pastor of LA’s megachurch City Of Refuge) was engaged to lisarayeactress and reality TV star LisaRaye. I’ll admit I was equally drawn to the story and even more surprised but not for the reasons you may think. First, let’s get this out of the way. I spoke to sources close to the situation and yes they are dating. But no, they are NOT ENGAGED at this time.  Now that would or should be the end of this post right? Well no… Blogs and websites (gospel and mainstream) have already covered the rumor of engagement part, no need for that from me. So like always, I want to tackle this thing with a little “perspective.” Ready? Read the rest of this entry »

So it’s looks like Thursday is just going to be that day! As you know, each week we’re going to feature a new song from Sunday Best 4 winner Amber Bullock’s debut EP “Thank You” to be released on Tuesday, December 6. 2 weeks ago we premiered her remake of the Walter Hawkins classic “Thank You.” Last week, we debuted her rendition of the praise and worship standard “How Great Is Our God.” Well this week, I’ve got a special treat for you! (If that wasn’t a churchy line I don’t know what is!) Read the rest of this entry »
