About Torrence Glenn

Torrence Glenn is a fast rising mainstream music industry tastemaker but a gospel music lover at heart and “arguably” a gospel industry insider. He’s affectionately been dubbed “Professor” by some in the industry, because of his work with teaching choirs at various gospel and church workshops, conferences, and concert events. Additionally, due in part to his role as a BET.com music development executive, he’s often sought out for his professional, personal, and musical opinion by personnel in the gospel and mainstream music circles. Torrence’s take on music, life and all else could best be described in one of his most overused lines: “Do you hear what I hear?”

Hello Torrence:

I’m glad you were numerically challenged (poor math skills) so your
true gift(s) and talent(s) could be revealed.

You are a great writer, and funny too! I enjoy reading your blogs.

Mr. Glenn,
I am really enjoying this season of Sunday’s Best. The talent this year is awesome and truly inspirational. The guest artist selection has been outstanding as well. I also want to inform you all about another group (if you haven’t heard about them already). The Nevel’s Sisters based out of Youngstown, Ohio. They were actually the first winners of Gospel Focus (similiar platform as Sunday’s Best) in 2006. I would encourage all viewers if for some reason you don’t know of them to do a search on Google, Youtube, or simply go to http://www.myspace.com/nevelssisters. I believe you will be truly blessed!

Torrence – I have enjoyed this season of Sunday’s best and have read a lot of viewers comments. Recently, I searched YOU Tube to see if I could catch some of this season’s performances again.

I was was SHOCKED to see that one of the this year’s ‘annointed final 3′ is actually a Go-Go vocalist out of DC. Her singing is wonderful — HOWEVER, I am not yet convinced that her heart is into singing for the Lord ( well at least not exclusively)…Try it out – check out LISSEN out of DC.. As recently as Jan this particular finalist was working it out as a secular vocalist in local Dc night clubs — She is gifted nonetheless…check it out – I would be interested in your perspective.

Jessica Reedy is OUT! if you’re focusing on talent.
Latice and Y’Anna BOTH nailed it tonight! They should be competing for next week’s Sunday Best!
Judges should do their job and JUDGE!

Misty Said on

This is just a suggestion if she is reading. Jessica I love your voice but it seems to me there is something wrong. Maybe it is just me but I feel like we are getting to know the other contestants personality and from you I get this confused look on my face. Dont get me wrong you voice is wonderfull but sometime you need to be sure of it. If it wasnt you wouldnt have made it this far. But the thing that is the strangest to me is the fact that once every judge finished giving you a compliment you never open your mouth and say thank you or shake your head to let them know you are thankful for their words. You always just stand there smiling. I have tried over and over again to watch and see if you say the smallest thank you. I have never seen it. Next time put your mouth to that $@# and say THANKS. If God gave you a compliment I hope you would not just stand there and smile, you should start shouting. Other than that your doing good. lol

Torrence Hey:
I just wanted to make a comment for those who are wanting to audition for next season’s Sunday Best competion. Any one who can sing a song can also call themselves a gospel singer, but it takes an anointed, poweful, God fearing person to stand up there and say “YES” Lord I want to be a vessel for you and proclaim your name to the ends of the earth so therefore Lord, YES, I will follow you and lead others closer to Jesus Christ with song. If you don’t have these qualities about yourself, you must ask yourself who is it that you are singing for and who is it you are trying to reach. Amen.

Torrence, I am highly contagious because Latice was eliminated from that show which will rename nameless for I have not taken my pressure medicine. What I need to know from you is a list of CD’s I am waiting to purchase. Many of the heavyweights released projects last year so I don’t know what is ahead for us. I was so desperate for something I bought Ben Tankard’s latest, but I like good “sangin”. Can you sang? make a CD so I can buy it. LOL

Torrence, I personally would like to say, Thank you. Your blogs and the guest blogs have been a good read. Every week, I been looking to hear what you have to say about the show and linking everyone to read your blog at Facebook. That’s right, I loved the show, Sunday Best, so much that I started a fan club since season 1. Now the group have reached over 140 members, since season 2 have started! That’s not all, I have asked some of our executive producers to blog on YouTube about the show. Of course, one of them was able to blog for us, but I’m still grateful. Since then, I have asked BET to create a Fan page for Sunday Best on Facebook; however, I believe an amateur from within started a page without permission. Can you investigate on who started the page, and let me know via facebook? Now, if you have a fan page of yourself, I would support it. Great job!

How can i talk with some of the singers on Sunday’s Best? Im from
Chicago and I am a singer, songwriter & poet. All the singers on the show were great. God has truly blessed them. It would be a blessing if they would sing my songs. Please have them contact me. Blessings in all that you do.

Torrence, was the gentleman who sang lead on Back II Eden the same guy who did it on the CD. He is a “sangin’ motorscooter.” Donald Lawrence is the beast. When is he going on tour? He needs to put Latice in that group ’cause I know being from North Carolina he ain’t studin’ none of the rest of them folks, winner included. I don’t mean to be mean, but it is what it is.

KJ Said on

Congratulations to Y’Anna Crawley and Jessica Reedy.

I believe they are both winners. However, I was praying for Jessica to be the finalist. When she sang, I just wanted to “holla”. She touched me so much. I could just feel her spirit. As one of the “Mary Mary’s” said, we need that kind of singing. I believe we will be hearing more of Jessica. I sure hope I will be able to purchase a CD in the near future of her songs. SHE TOUCHED MY SOUL BY THE GRACE OF GOD. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH.
Katrina

I first off would like to say that i love to watch Sunday’s Best but i do have some issues. i feel like it is bringing competition into the churches what i mean is that if you can’t sing like this or that then you are not a good singer. You should sing from your heart and also for God. I sing for God and not to please man because all of my blessings come from God not man. If it came from man i would not be blessed. I know that there are some who can’t sing, but there are those who can without the runs and all that. I am a songstress who loves to sing and you have some that can sing who is afraid to try out cause of they can’t do runs but it is from the heart. How can you tell if a person is real in what they sing about? some people play with God and the talents they have and not real
