What’s up folks!
Not too long ago Marvin Sapp stopped by to discuss his new CD “I Win” and how he deals with the demands of being perhaps the most popular gospel artist out right now. With that placement comes a lot of “expectations” musically and personally and we discussed those all those things! I know you know what I’m talking about but if you don’t, watch to find out! Sup folks. It’s an early day in Chicago and I’m excited because I’m in town for Vashawn Mitchell’s live recording of his new CD and I’ve got to say that from the looks of it, he’s going even further with this project than he did with Triumphant. Now I’m not just saying this because I’m a fan, or because he’s a friend of BET.com and the Gospel According To Torrence, and that I went to the last recording although all those things are true. Musically, it’s just THAT good and I know because I got the chance to preview the new music last night in his closed dress rehearsal. Read the rest of this entry »

What’s up folks!
JJ Hairston of JJ Hairston and Youthful Praise came by the studio to catch up. I say catch up because he and I kind of go way back. We’ve known each other for a while and what you may not know is that many years ago when I was only working in an executive capacity, JJ Hairston was the first person I ever interviewed. I did it because of a piece we were working on for the 2004 Celebration Of Gospel and I didn’t have anyone to do it. So I went and asked the questions myself. Who’d have thought that I’d be doing what I do today? Certainly not me. Since then, JJ’s proven to be a consistently cool brother and one of my favorite people on and off the stage. We even argue from time to time about what his choir should be doing! OK, you didn’t come to hear about all of that, you came to see our “interview.” Ha! Watch and afterward, make sure you check out the new CD “After This.” It’s worth it! Read the rest of this entry »

Hey folks!
Recently EMI Gospel recording artist Anita Wilson stopped by “The Gospel According To Torrence.” You may know her as a featured vocalist in Donald Lawrence’s “Company” but she’s also an amazing artist in her own right and she’s finally stepping out on her own. She has a new project called “Worship Soul” that I’m telling you straight up is a BEAST of a project! Anita’s style of gospel has just as much vibe as it does sound and it easily plays straight through; something gospel CD’s haven’t been able to do in a loooong time. I’m a big fan and talking to her was fun. Watch and hopefully you’ll become a fan too! Read the rest of this entry »

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. I’m not even going to make apologies or promises of anything of that nature, K? But I’m going to try and do better because I hear you all and apparently, you want to hear from me, so let’s get started with a new interview.
Recently I sat down with James Fortune to talk about his new CD “Identity” and we had a little fun. Take a look! Read the rest of this entry »

Y’all said y’all wanted stuff everyday so here I am! Ha!
A few weeks ago, Maurette Brown-Clark stopped by to talk about her new CD “The Sound Of Victory” and we had a good time and got to jump into some other things; including how she describes her sound and why I always call her voice sneaky. You gotta watch to see what I’m talking about! Read the rest of this entry »

Hey folks!
As we gear up for Season 5 of Sunday Best, I got to sit down with Amber Bullock, the winner of season 4. She talked about life after the show, the recording process and we even sing a little bit. You just gotta see it to know what I’m talking about. Ha!
Note, we shot this video late last year so when I say her full CD will be out next year, I mean this year! Read the rest of this entry »
