Hey folks, last night the 2 day memorial festivities for Bishop Walter Hawkins began with the memorial concert “The Man, The Music, The Ministry: A Musical Salute to Bishop Walter Hawkins” . I wanted to make it to Oakland to attend but prior commitments and logistics just didn’t allow it, but thankfully our good friend of the blog BJ Daniels was able to attend and was willing to recap the night for us for those who didn’t make it. As I’m sure most of you know, I’m pretty active on the social media platform “Twitter” and it’s proven to be a rather remarkable way to bring people together and share information. Although most of us were unable to be at last night’s concert, you were able to get some updates of what was going on from different people on twitter. For example, the program photo tot he right was captured and posted by gospel artist DeWayne Woods. And our guest blogger today, BJ Daniels was able to offer his recap to me via twitter when he realized that I wasn’t there. How dope is that!
BJ Daniels is an administrator at Greater Mt. Calvary Holy Church, Washington, DC, graphic designer, former gospel radio announcer and gospel enthusiast. He also has his own blog, so you should check it out here!

This one will be short, which is why I called it a “quickie.”
But I just found out that The Word Network has canceled Lexi’s talk show “The Lexi Show.” Now I’m not going to front. I haven’t really sat down and watched The Word Network all that much in the last year or so, but the times I did watch it, her show was usually the reason why. Read the rest of this entry »

Sup folks. Me again. Don’t clap, just worship!” (That is a Celebration Of Gospel inside joke that, if you remember past years, will hit you later, lol)
But anyway, I’m back with some more highlights from Day 2 of rehearsals for Celebration Of Gospel 2010. (Forgive my tacky picture taking skills, lol.) Read the rest of this entry »

Bebe Winans was cleared of all charges of assaulting his former wife Debra Winans. You can read his statement here. Well, I also spoke to Debra to get her take on today’s events and she didn’t hold back.

Bebe Winans’ domestic assault charges stemming from an incident with his wife Debra Winans back in February. The blog was relatively new, Sunday Best was in full swing and at that time, if you remember, all of my efforts went into the show and album releases only. Only later did I begin to cover and discuss all think gospel and “church world” related. Honestly, I’d kind of forgotten about it until just recently when Lexi interviewed Debra and spoke about the incident, among others.
I didn’t really cover the story of
Well, 10 months later he’s been cleared of all charges. See the statement released from his camp: Read the rest of this entry »

Sup folks. It seems to be a year (or season in “church talk”) of comebacks. First it was Whitney Houston and & Barbra Streisand (had to do it, lol). Well this year in gospel in no different. Bebe & Cece Winans, the brother and sister duo who totally owned the 80’s and part of the 90’s are back together with their first CD in over 15 years! Read the rest of this entry »

This one might be long or short. I just won’t know until I’m done typing. My apologies for not posting this immediately after the show Sunday like I normally do,
