So today’s post is just FUN!
As Celebration Of Gospel Week continues (Sunday at 8pm!), and I work with my team here at BET.com to put together the COG website (BET.com/CelebrationOfGospel) I began to notice different “personalities” in the process. In other words, we all love gospel; but how we like it served to us is a little different. And I began to realize that there were some definite characteristics and preferences that more times than not would equate to 1 of 3 specific gospel personalities. Now, of course we’re all different and probably have a little bit of each personality in us, but most of our preferences lean one place so I figured, let’s try this theory out on everyone else. Soooooooo, we developed a personality quiz. Read the rest of this entry »

Sup folks, Celebration Of Gospel Week Continues. Just 5 more days until Celebration Of Gospel 2011 airs on Sunday, January 30 at 8pm! As always, Steve Harvey is the host and this year we wanted to do something a little different. Many of you who listen to Steve Harvey’s Morning Show on the radio or watch The Steve Harvey Project on Centric, you know about Steve’s “Strawberry Letter” where listeners/viewers write in to Steve and his crew for advice on their life’s problems.
Well, for Celebration of Gospel 2011, we decided to have Steve take it to church and give his advice on some “Church/Saints issues.” So if you’ve ever wanted advice on whether you have to tithe on your gross or net, or how not to fall asleep when you’re praying and a bunch more, you need to check out Steve’s Strawberry EPISTLES! (Epistles… get it?…) Make sure you watch all SIX of them! Read the rest of this entry »

Sup folks! i know, I know! it’s been a little while. It’s just been a busy time of year and most time I’m a one man band so I got a little behind and overwhelmed but I’m BACKKKKKKKK.
But even better, it’s Celebration Of Gospel week! This Sunday, yes THIS SUNDAY, JANUARY 30 Celebration Of Gospel 2011 premiers on BET at 8pm! Every year the show gets better and better and I’m particularly excited about this year because of the fresh faces on the show and some of the crazy fun and interesting behind the scenes footage I captured along with some special content that I think you’re going to enjoy. So everyday this week up until the big night I’ll be bringing you new exclusive video and content from the Celebration Of Gospel. Read the rest of this entry »

Last night, we taped our 11th installment of BET’s Celebration Of Gospel and even as I type this I’m still “IN.” It probably sounds like we say it every year but it’s true, it was one of the best ever! The night was full of highlights and moments and the Celebration Of Gospel veterans and newcomers all tore it down. Here’s the rundown. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s official: Celebration Of Gospel is returning on January 30, 2011 for its 11th year! Steve Harvey returns as host and this year’s talent lineup is fun and shall I say rather FRESH. There are some new faces in the bunch, some R&B legends as well as some amazing gospel mainstays that I think will provide a good mix that Celebration of Gospel strives for. There will also be special tributes to Bishop Walter Hawkins and Albertina Walker in this year’s show!
But that’s enough talking; check out who’s performing and appearing! Read the rest of this entry »

Sup folks. Sorry I’ve been a little MIA (missing in action) lately but I’m working on some good good stuff! BET’s Celebration of Gospel is getting ready to tape in a few months and of course my hands are full along with a bunch of other stuff I can’t talk about just yet, but it’s all good!
And always in the midst of all of it, my music is always playing in the background. (And I’m sure that makes folks on the other end of the phone during conference calls really mad, but oh well! Ha!) And like always, just the other day, a song shuffled on that really “got me together” and I “TGIP.” (Thank God It Played.) Read the rest of this entry »

As I’ve mentioned before, this weekend I’ll be in Nashville for the 25th Annual Stellar Awards. And like I’ve also mentioned, like any other awards show, some the best events are the ones that happen before and after the actual show. For example, Clive Davis’ star studded (we use that term to much but it works) Pre – Grammy party is probably the biggest event that weekend outside of the Grammy’s. Well, when it comes to gospel and the Stellar Awards, the annual BMI Trailblazers Of Gospel Luncheon would be Clive’s equivalent! Read the rest of this entry »

I hope you enjoyed last night’s premiere of Celebration Of Gospel 2010. In my opinion, it was one of the best! If you missed it, you can watch the full show here!
But while I was there, I got a chance to sit down with Yolanda Adams, the gospel legend herself to catch up with her! Needless to say, this was another one of those “Torrence as groupie” moments. When you get to sit down and talk it up with a gospel game changer who’s not only gifte/anointed/talented (all of that) but is also visually stunning (stop being deep, you know she phyne!), it’s easy to get caught up!
But I’d like to think that I pulled it together enough to do a pretty good interview if I do say so myself. Watch! Read the rest of this entry »

Hey folks. BET’s 10th Annual Celebration Of Gospel airs this Sunday, June 10 @ 8 p.m. I think I’ve pretty much seen all of them, and I believe this very well may be one of the best. While I was there, I caught up with CoCo Brother, radio personality and host of BET’s “Lift Every Voice.” We talked about how he got into the gospel industry, choosing controversial guests for his show even the recent instances of “moral indiscretions.” Read the rest of this entry »

Ok, folks. This is it! Here I stand…(wrong song, sorry!) But this is my final post of my Yes, No, Maybe? Series for 2009…
