Had To Share: Thanksgiving Playlist Part Deux (2)

Published by Torrence Glenn on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 1:14 pm.

Sup folks. Just one day before the day which is before the day after the day that I have to repent and ask God forgiveness for my overwhelming participation in the sin of gluttony! Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I’ve already turned my mouth and stomach over to a reprobate mind because I plan to eat as if collard greens and mac ‘n cheese are the keys to the kingdom! Don’t judge me! Ha!

But yesterday I did the first installment of a “Thanksgiving Playlist” and a bunch of you hit on Facebook and Twitter to let me know that you were feeling itso now I’m excited to bring you part 2. Like I said yesterday, because Thanksgiving isn’t necessarily a biblical holiday, I feel like it kind got the short end of the stick on “music.” (lol) We skip right to the Christmas tunes! So why not put together a little thankful music to get in the THANKSGIVING spirit. Here’s part 2 of of the Thanksgiving Playlist. Enjoy!!! And oh yeah, have a happy and wonderful Thanksgiving! TGIP: “Praise Him” – Darnell Davis & The Remnant

Published by Torrence Glenn on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 5:39 pm.

As you probably know, Darnell Davis & The Remnant’s One Voice conference begins tonight and goes through the weekend and your truly will be heading out to L.A. to be a part so what better music to soundtrack my day then some from one of my favorite choirs!

Not sure if you follow me on twitter, but if you do you know I actually requested prayer because I was a bit overwhelmed by just a bunch of STUFF! Just way too much going on, only one me and I was just frustrated. In the words of my grandmother “I had had it up to HERE and then THERE showed up! (Ha! She has the best cliches and “isms.”) So for the mood I was in, I needed something to wake me up AND pick me up and this track, “Praise Him” hit the spot. It’s from their CD “No Compromise” and if you don’t have it, you need it. The Remnant squalls until times get better and after putting this song on repeat, I’m feeling a little better.  Listen! Can’t Wait: Darnell Davis & The Remnant “One Voice” Conference L.A.

Published by Torrence Glenn on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 5:18 pm.

Sup folks.  Darnell Davis & The Remnant from Minneapolis, MN are probably one of my favorite choirs of time. I have a lot of favorites I know, but literally they’re like in the top 3.  Every year Darnell and his amazing and awesome singers (as singers and people) have their One Voice Conference. They do it in Minneapolis, MN and Los Angeles, CA and this will be my first time attending the L.A. version so I’m kind of excited. Read the rest of this entry »

Had To Share: “Testimony” – Patrick Riddick & D’Vyne Worship

Testimony Cover Art

Sup folks, why didn’t anyone tell me I hadn’t blogged in a little bit. Y’all know I need help! Ha!

But anyway, I’m excited about what I’m sharing today. I’m unashamedly a CHOIR BOY! I love all forms of gospel music and music in general, but I’m a church kid through and through and there’s nothing like some good ole choir sanging. Choirs have somewhat lost their place in gospel music over the last 10 years as more and more groups/ensembles and solo artists have kind of been moved to the front of the line. I sometimes fear that the appreciation and legacy of the gospel choir is in jeopardy.  There aren’t many new choirs putting out music on a national level. If you listened to gospel radio or gone through the shelves of the local record store, there wouldn’t be much there. Of course choirs like Hezekiah Walker and LFC, James Hall & Worship & Praise, and Ricky Dillard & New G are holding it down, but they can’t do it alone. JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise also do an excellent job of maintaining the classic choir sound while still sounding current and relevant.

So with that, I’m especially excited to feature the music of Patrick Riddick & D’Vyne Worship’s new single “Testimony.” Read the rest of this entry »
