Hey folks, last night the 2 day memorial festivities for Bishop Walter Hawkins began with the memorial concert “The Man, The Music, The Ministry: A Musical Salute to Bishop Walter Hawkins” . I wanted to make it to Oakland to attend but prior commitments and logistics just didn’t allow it, but thankfully our good friend of the blog BJ Daniels was able to attend and was willing to recap the night for us for those who didn’t make it. As I’m sure most of you know, I’m pretty active on the social media platform “Twitter” and it’s proven to be a rather remarkable way to bring people together and share information. Although most of us were unable to be at last night’s concert, you were able to get some updates of what was going on from different people on twitter. For example, the program photo tot he right was captured and posted by gospel artist DeWayne Woods. And our guest blogger today, BJ Daniels was able to offer his recap to me via twitter when he realized that I wasn’t there. How dope is that!
BJ Daniels is an administrator at Greater Mt. Calvary Holy Church, Washington, DC, graphic designer, former gospel radio announcer and gospel enthusiast. He also has his own blog, so you should check it out here!

Sup folks, I’m back in NYC and recovering from the long weekend that was the BET Awards 10 in L.A. It was a pretty amazing show with gospel all up and through it if I do say so myself, and I’m not just saying that because I work here! Ha!
So today was my first day back in the office and for the first half of the day I thought my computer speakers had blown out so I was a little bummed about it. I mean seriously, how in the world am I going to function without music. Sure I could sit at my desk with my headphones on, but that’s just not the same. So I sat here for most of the day letting the music play muffled through the sub-woofer (only part of the speaker set working) which of course sounded stupid but I was being stubborn and needed to hear something! Well, anyway I realized that the janitor staff had done some cleaning while I was gone so I decided to check all the cords beneath my desk to see if something might have been unplugged by a vacuum cleaner or something and BAM! I found the unplugged wire, plugged it back in and my speakers were back with a vengeance. Read the rest of this entry »

Sup folks, today was LONG!!!!!
Meetings, appointments, interviews (stay tuned for Juanita Bynum), and a whole lot of other stuff. It was one of “those days.” You know where you’re working really hard, not too sure you’re getting much of anything accomplished because the minute you think you’ve crossed off something significant from your “to-do” list, you have to add 5 more things to it! One of those days where “thank you” seemed like a curse word to most people and “now” or “asap” are the words you hear way more often. Yeah, I’m venting and I’m allowed. ha! But whenever I wasn’t in meetings and was able to listen to music, I was (always, can’t stand but so much silence) and “It Will All Be Worth It” by Mary Mary came on and made everything better!
