Sup folks. Just one day before the day which is before the day after the day that I have to repent and ask God forgiveness for my overwhelming participation in the sin of gluttony! Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I’ve already turned my mouth and stomach over to a reprobate mind because I plan to eat as if collard greens and mac ‘n cheese are the keys to the kingdom! Don’t judge me! Ha!
But yesterday I did the first installment of a “Thanksgiving Playlist” and a bunch of you hit on Facebook and Twitter to let me know that you were feeling itso now I’m excited to bring you part 2. Like I said yesterday, because Thanksgiving isn’t necessarily a biblical holiday, I feel like it kind got the short end of the stick on “music.” (lol) We skip right to the Christmas tunes! So why not put together a little thankful music to get in the THANKSGIVING spirit. Here’s part 2 of of the Thanksgiving Playlist. Enjoy!!! And oh yeah, have a happy and wonderful Thanksgiving! Sup folks! Maybe it’s just me but I’m noticing the saints are trying to get in shape these days. Follow any number of gospel artists and preachers on twitter and you’ll see tweets that go a little something like this: “On my way to the gym.” “Lost 10 pounds, only 20 more to go.” “I’m on day so and so of P90X.” And so forth and so on.
It’s a good look because as church/gospel folks (black folks in general) we haven’t always been the healthiest of folks. (One day I’ll stop overusing the word “folks” but until then, sorry folks…) We love to eat (Lord knows I do) but most of us (self included) don’t exercise like we should to counteract all that eating we do. Well, fitness expert Donna Richardson-Joyner (you probably remember her from the “Sweatin’ In the Spirit” Days) teamed up with Beachbody (the makers of P90X) to make “Body Gospel.” So I’m assuming it’s like P90X for the saints… well kinda. I can dig it, because I saw one of those P90X DVD’s one time and just cried like a baby at the thought of doing THAT. I’m going to work out one of these days but not like that! Ha!
Anyway, Body Gospel is a DVD workout DVD series set to gospel/inspirational music. (See, you guys who claim you don’t go to the gym because of the secular music they play there no longer have an excuse. Ha!) To celebrate the release of the DVD along with her birthday, Donna’s husband radio host Tom Joyner threw her a birthday bash. Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Shirley Murdock and other celebs were there. (Tom, Donna, Dallas is not that far from NYC, I’m just sayin…) Check out the pics below. And if you’re trying to get your fitness on, check out the website www.bodygospel.com to pick up your DVDs! Who wants to show some before and afters???? That might be fun… Just a thought! Read the rest of this entry »
Sup folks! (I need another greeting but it just comes so natural to me, maybe I’ll have a contest to pick a new one. Ha!)
Recently I got to sit down with Fred Hammond and one of his new artists Michael Bethany about his new Fred Hammond Family Entertainment label.¬† We talked about his goals for the label as well as the other directions he’s taking as a businessman and artist. Jazz CD? Yep. Book? Yep. We even get into a little bit about I don’t want to go too far into our conversation because I think the dialogue is really good. But for you sensitive saints, this isn’t the interview for you! Ha. No, seriously. Enjoy!

It’s been a good few weeks for “The Gospel According To Torrence.” Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY has been coming by. Love that! A few weeks ago Fred Hammond came through and we got to talk about his career, his thoughts on the industry and a few other things. Now y’all KNOW I keep it really honest here so I’m just gonna put it on out there. I am not in the video, because at the last minute, I had some mic challenges. And instead of wasting Fred’s time to fix them, I just let him answer the questions while I asked em from the sidelines, so you won’t see me, but the interview is good just the same if I do say so myself! And I do say so! Ha! Watch and Enjoy! Read the rest of this entry »
