Last night, we taped our 11th installment of BET’s Celebration Of Gospel and even as I type this I’m still “IN.” It probably sounds like we say it every year but it’s true, it was one of the best ever! The night was full of highlights and moments and the Celebration Of Gospel veterans and newcomers all tore it down. Here’s the rundown. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s official: Celebration Of Gospel is returning on January 30, 2011 for its 11th year! Steve Harvey returns as host and this year’s talent lineup is fun and shall I say rather FRESH. There are some new faces in the bunch, some R&B legends as well as some amazing gospel mainstays that I think will provide a good mix that Celebration of Gospel strives for. There will also be special tributes to Bishop Walter Hawkins and Albertina Walker in this year’s show!
But that’s enough talking; check out who’s performing and appearing! Read the rest of this entry »

*Ahem*
It’s been a long time coming, but I knewwwwwww this CD would comeeeeee. And ohhhhh yes it did. Hopefully you heard that in your mind in a really pleasant key with a sick run at the end. HA! We’ve waited and it’s finally here! The debut CD “The Promise” from Sunday Best Season 2 WINNER Y’Anna Crawley is finally out! So you know what that means! It’s time for you to head out to Walmart, Best Buy, iTunes, Jenny’s Gospel Shack or whever else it is you get your music and pick it up.
Part of last week and this week I gave you a little preview of the CD and most of you seemed to be really pleased with the direction Y’Anna was going in. Now you can listen to the entire CD, all 10 songs. Now I admit, with the voice Y’Anna has, I was expecting more of a “churchy” record at first. She went a bit of a contemporary route but managed to keep the church in there at the same time. Listen to all of it and tell me what you think but I’ll let you know my favs. Read the rest of this entry »

Just a few more days and Sunday Best 2 Winner Y’Anna Crawley’s debut CD will finally be released. Hopefully you’ve been enjoying the previews to the CD I’ve been giving you leading up to it.
Today I’m really excited about this track because it’s another one of my favorite if not THE favorite. The song is called “You’re Still God.” Read the rest of this entry »

Finally, my recap on the Sunday Best 3 finale. I don’t know if you remember from last year, but I always get a little “emo” at the last episode of Sunday Best. We know it’s going to end but we still miss it and wish it wouldn’t. Well, here we go! Read the rest of this entry »

Hey folks, this will be quick! A lot of times I read through the comments and try to respond as much as I can, but sometimes it can get to be too much but what I notice most is that you wonder when past Sunday Best contestants CD’s are coming out. Well, you all know by now that Y’anna Crawley’s CD is dropping July 13. But I also get asked alot, “when is Jessica Reedy coming out, where is she,” etc. Well, I still don’t have a date for you, but I do know she’s been recording, just had no way of proving it to you. Well I finally have a little something to show and tell. Read the rest of this entry »

Sup folks. Me again!
As you all know, auditions for Sunday Best 3 were a little different this year. For the first time ever, we had the BET.com Digital VIP Suite sponsored by Ford in every U.S. audition city where a select group of 150 contestants were able to audition. In the VIP Suite, my guest judges and I were able to handpick who would go to the final round of judging. My guest judges for Detroit were Sunday Best 2 finalists Jessica Reedy, Camille Betton and R&B/Soul STAR Ledisi. Check out the clip below to see what went down in the VIP Room in Detroit! Yeah I know, the Detroit auditions already aired…. Well, there were some back-end issues that kept me from getting the video to you earlier but it’s here now so don’t trip!
This Sunday, check back for Philly’s Digital VIP Suite Recap. Watch now! Read the rest of this entry »

Sup folks. It’s been a busy couple of weeks as we gear up for the premiere of Sunday Best 3!
The BET.com Digital VIP Room presented by the folks at Ford was a beast. We went to Detroit, New Orleans and Philadelphia looking for the gospel’s next star. And let me just say, it was something…. else. There were some GREAT singers, some good singers and some “special” singers. But we had a great time! Read the rest of this entry »
