Had To Share: Sunday Best Audition Tips!

Published by Torrence Glenn on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 6:32 pm.

Auditions in Dallas were a huge success and overall, there were a lot of great and talented singers who came through the audition process, VIP and otherwise. (For all the info you need to audition in LA and Atlanta go to the Sunday Best 4 page here.) But although I did a version last year, after this past weekend, I think it’s time I updated it a bit. And by “it” I mean a list of tips, do’s and don’t for audition for Sunday Best! So no long intro, lets just get into it… Read the rest of this entry »

Sup folks. We’ve got another brand new episode from the 30th Season of Bobby Jones Gospel on Sunday that features Sunday Best 3 Winner Leandria Johnson, choirmaster James Hall and The Voices Of Citadel, and Earnest Pugh. Of course we took our cameras to rehearsals and backstage to chat it up some of this week’s guests.

I caught up with Leandria Johnson and James Hall backstage and we had some fun. Watch and make sure you tune in Sunday to see the full performances. EVERYONE brought it! Read the rest of this entry »

VIDEO: Quick Chats with Leandria Johnson & Elder Goldwire McLendon

Published by Torrence Glenn on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 4:23 pm.

Sup folks.

This will be quick, because I need to go and pack. But I ran across some footage from Leandria Johnson and Elder Goldwire McLendon that I never got to use. They had both come to the BET Studios in New York to appear on106 & Park so I went and spent some time with them backstage in the dressing rooms. I never got a chance to get it edited and it wasn’t necessarily the best footage  and was about to just do away with it but figured, why waste it? So here goes. My talks with Leandria and Elder McLendon behind the scenes at 106 & Park.

Remember, this is old and before the vote, I’m just sharing! Ok? Don’t talk about me too bad! LOL Just WATCH!

It’s the next to last episode of Sunday Best 3 and y’all know I’m feeling some kind of way, right? Guest Blogger: Durward Davis

Sup folks. Episode 10 of Sunday Best 3 was a tough one. It was emotional, anointed, dynamic and a little sad. We had to say goodbye to a crowd favorite Durward Davis.  Like we’ve said a million times, anybody going home last night was going to be hard. But something about Durward not advancing stung a little bit for me.  I was really one of his biggest fans.  But I won’t go into again. Everything happens as its meant to, so I digress.  But Durward Davis is going to give his own perspective on his time on the show and his exit so ladies and gentlemen, here he is!

Guest Blogger: Martha Buries

Sup folks. Sunday, our “wildcard” Martha Buries time on Sunday Best 3 also came to an end. Martha accomplished the extremely difficult task of having to “redeem” herself after she technically was already sent home. The judges picked a top 10 and she wasn’t in it, but there was something in her that made the judges bring her back. And after she came back, she stayed! Everybody couldn’t have done that. I think most of the contestants in the final 20 contest are great, but Martha was one of my favorites and I always looked forward to her from week to week because she always brought a little something new that I didn’t think she was capable of.  I don’t think this will be the last of Martha either, but until she comes back out to hopefully bring us some new music, here’s Martha’s guest blog.
