This week on Bobby Jones Gospel Vashawn Mitchell, Lisa Page-Brooks, and Lowelle Pye bless the stage and it’s just a show packed with good songs and good singing. I went backstage to talk to all of them and watch their rehearsals. I had a good time especially getting to chat with all of them and please pardon me but I do groupie out a bit for Lisa Page-Brooks. I can’t help it… Ha! Watch! Read the rest of this entry »

Sup folks. Thanksgiving is only a few days away (and my stomach is shouting in advance, glory!) and although we know the food, family and fun are major parts of the celebration, we know the “intent” of the holiday is to to give thanks and show how grateful we are for all that we have. Although Thanksgiving isn’t necessarily a holiday that’s biblical and there’s some rather horrible history to the celebration (you know, the whole slaughter of Native Americans and such), I think it’s important to celebrate the sentiment more so than the history. Yes, you should be thankful ALWAYS but having a special time of year where you make it a major focus is rather great, at least to me.
So with that, today and tomorrow I’ll be sharing some of my favorite gospel songs of gratitude to help celebrate. So here’s part 1! Read the rest of this entry »
Thank God It Played AND Thank God It’s Friday, we’re just uber thankful huh? With Thanksgiving less than a week a way I guess it’s appropriate. But seriously, I really am glad it’s Friday and I’m really glad this song showed up on my playlist. As I’m sure you can tell this week was pretty rough for me and as I take the weekend to recharge, reevaluate and pull it all together I simply have one prayer, one request, one plea as it were… RESTORE ME.
So when this song played I kept it on repeat and thought I’d share with you. Enjoy!
Witness is one of my favorite groups of all time (Something about Lisa Page-Brooks just gets me everytime!) and this song “Restore Me”, although simple just does something for me. I hope it does somthing for you too. See ya next week!
Sup folks. TGIF! And what better way to celebrate Friday than with the new music video video from one of my FAVORITE singers on the planet, Lisa Page-Brooks. Although the word is overused, it’s appropriate here. Lisa sings and performs with so much SWAG! It’s a lost art in gospel, and that’s why I love her so!
I’m also excited to see a gospel video that’s shot with quality and professionalism, because let’s just be honest, 99.9% of the times they look like they were shot with a 90’s pre-paid cell phone camera with a bad battery! Lisa’s styling is good, the camera work is top notch and it’s just a really, really good. I like that it has a theme (a day in the life/reality show) but isn’t overly contrived and nobody’s in the hospital or running into a church having a “Color Purple I’s married now” moment. (You know those concepts are sooooo worn out.)
So to celebrate your Friday, check out Lisa Page-Brooks’ new music video for “God Is Good!”

From henceforth now and forevermore, I will no longer respond to Torrence, T, TG, TMG or any of those names. My new name is Prophet Torrence Maurice Glenn!
Why? Well I’m glad you asked!
Last week when Vashawn Mitchell released his 3rd CD “Triumphant” I mentioned that I felt this CD would be a game changer for him. Well, it’s coming to pass! Read the rest of this entry »
So it’s the day all of us have been waiting for. I’ve made no secret about being slightly partial this release and you can sue me if you want to, but that’s quite alright. I knew from the recording a year ago that this CD would be a hit and after listening to the final copy, my predictions were confirmed. (E. Bernard Jordan don’t want it for my prophetic skills! Jokes!)
But seriously, I’m ridiculously excited about the release of Vashawn Mitchell’s new CD “Triumphant” which is in stores and online everywhere RIGHT NOW! In June I celebrated (unofficially) 10 years in the entertainment business and about 6 years in the area of music specifically and after a while a lot of what you do begins to jumble together and the “moments” are what stick out and last for you. And those times that stick with you are when you realize that you’re experience a “game changing” moment, either for yourself or someone else. With the release of “Triumphant” I’m excited because I feel like the game has officially changed for Vashawn. They say that the 3rd time is the charm, and with this album, I think “they” are absolutely right. Read the rest of this entry »
EXCLUSIVE WORLD PREMIERE VIDEO: “His Blood Still Works” – Vashawn Mitchell featuring Lisa Page-BrooksPublished by Torrence Glenn on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 6:39 pm.
Only one more day before Vashawn Mitchell’s ridiculously anticipated (in a good way) new CD “Triumphant” drops. You’d have to be living under a brick to not have heard or seen the video for his latest worship hit “Nobody Greater!” I remember being at the recording and predicting with all power that this song would be a game changer and sung in all our churches and from what I hear and see, it’s coming to pass. (Churchy!) Well, without giving my full review before tomorrow (and of course you’ll also be able to listen to it), I have to tell you, it’s REALLY GOOD!
But aside from “Nobody Greater,” you might remember that I went in and raved about another song at the recording called “His Blood Still Works” that featured the ONE and ONLY alto Lisa Page-Brooks on lead. Well, I was able to pull some strings and bring you the world premiere of the performance video for this AMAZING TRACK! Vashawn’s writing and Lisa’s absolute oily demolition of the lead vocal will have you in full fledged *whoosh* instantly! As a matter of fact, I’m not going to keep talking, I need you to watch. And I’m telling you right now before you start laughing and asking…that is me acting a churchy fool at around the 4:20 mark and I’m not ashamed! Ha!
Ladies & Gentlemen here and nowhere else, the video for Vashawn Mitchell’s “His Blood Still Works.” *passes you a white sheet* Read the rest of this entry »
