Yesterday President Obama signed into law the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. First lady Michelle Obama came to the event, held at the Harriet Tubman Elementary School in Washington, D.C. The act will increase the number of children in school lunch programs by 115,000, (let’s hope that number grows), increase the reimbursement rate for school districts meal programs by six cents, and increase health guidelines for school vending machines.
Michelle Obama launched the Lets Move! campaign in February, 2010, hoping to combat the childhood obesity epidemic in the UnitedStates. The campaign aims to increase healthier food in schools, lobby for better nutrition labeling, and increase the physical activity for children. Congrats Mrs. O!

First Lady Michelle Obama
And are we surprised at all? First lady Michelle Obama not only wields her social and political power to make changes to children’s school diets and fight obesity, but she does with awe inspiring effortless style. Yeah yeah, I’m a bit biased, where’s my objectivity right? But who can deny a woman’s intentions when she’s trying to fight a medical epidemic, and inspire kids to lead healthier lifestyles? Her Lets Move! initiative is moving me.
She shares Forbes’ 2010 World’s 100 Most Powerful Women list with Oprah Winfrey, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Lady Gaga and Beyonce Knowles. For the full list click here.

When she made the announcement in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building of course she did it in style. Mrs. O rocked a Thakoon Watercolor Gazar jacket complete with a matching blue top and navy pants. Our first lady is so stylish!
