Congratulations Barak Obama.
I am a single , African American mother who never been into politics until now.
Since your decision to run for presidency i have felt a difference but i could not explain why. Now i know what this feeling is. It’s the feeling of being overwhelmed that for the first time in my life i feel and i know that things will change for all of us,and i can finally not worry about the future of myself and my children. I have never been so proud of all the Obama supporters as i am today.Usually all the negative things that happen are pointed to African Americans, But not this time .We did it ,and we did it together. African American, Caucasian, Hispanics, Chinese ……….all of us should be proud .” The importance of Obama is not just his skin color ,but the fact he actually says things that I UNDERSTAND!!!!!!! He is looking out for the poor,He is looking out for our economy, He is looking out for our children and he is looking out for our future. Lets keep this in mind thou, Change is not going to happen over night, it will time, patience , sweat ,tears, up’s and downs but as long as we stay strong and believe in OUR leader , He will get us through.

I’M SO EXICITED TO KNOW THAT I MADE THE DIFFERENECE IN THIS ELECTION. THE LAST ELECTION I DIDN’T GET THE CHANCE TO VOTE BEACAUSE MY BIRTHDAY WAS THE FOLLOWING MONTH, AND TRUST ME IT WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN FOR G.W.B!!! ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT I’M PROUD OF THE BLACK COMMUNITY FOR STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE AND MAKING OUR OWN DECISION IN THE WHITE HOUSE!!!! I COMMEND CELEBRITIES FOR GETTING INVOLVED AS WELL. YOUNG JEZZY SHOULD HAVE BEEN EVERYONE’S “INSPRITATION”!!! I’M A HUGE FAN BY THE WAY. WHAT I WANT TO ADD IS, I VOTED FOR MY FAMILY THAT ISN’T ABLE TO VOTE ANYMORE. MY COUSIN KESHA WHO DIED, ALL MY GRANDPARENTS THAT FOUGHT JUST FOR THE RIGHT TO VOTE PERIOD, MY COUSIN TARON IN JAIL, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY TUPAC!!! HE SAID IN “CHANGES” WE NEVER LIVED TO SEE A BLACK PRESIDENT, AND IF HE WASN’T INTO THE LIFE HE WAS HE WOULD’VE LIVE TO SEE THIS DAY… I’M SO HAPPY!!!!! GO BARACK, I KNOW YOUR GOING TO MAKE US PROUD!!!!!!! WE GOT TO PAINT THE WHITE HOUSE BLACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trinidad and Tobago loves you President Obama and prays the blessings and divine protection of the ALmighty God upon your life and your family.
I am estatic that I was able to observe this historic occasion, for I felt that this was not possible in my lifetime, to see a black President in the United States of America. I look at the crowds and I see a rainbow of people celebrating the victory, and I am glad, that people of all races could unite like this, is truly awesome. I observe the worldwide celebrations and I am in awe that one man could have such an impact on the world. I felt jealous that the CNN and other reporters were only showing the big countries celebrating the victory, but the Caribbean and we in Trinidad and Tobago also celebrated, and we are happy for the change. I applaud Mrs Michelle Obama for her tremendous support of her husband throughout this race, and It clearly shows that black families can also lead exemplary public lives worthy of the highest office of the land. The stereo type of everything that is Black is Ghetto will not be at the white house, and for this I am Proud. President Obama I can go on and on, but I love you and pray God’s blessings, divine wisdom and protection upon you.

President Elect Obama, I am so very proud of you and your campaign for the victory that you achieved on the great day of November 7, 2008. I heard that the “sun” was shining in Chicago that great day, but in my heart I knew it was the “son” above looking down on his brother calming the storm. As a 59 year old grandmother of 6 beautifuly young ones, I know they will forever remember that day (because I will remind them) of a person who stood up and said from the heart that it was time for a change in America, and not only did Americans agree, but so many throughout the world.

My dear brother, your election as the 44th President of the United States was one of the most “defining moments” of my time (including the birth of my 3 sons) that I will forever be grateful to the Almighty. You will face many challenges during this journey, but always remember that there is nothing that you and God cannot handle – together.

May God continue to bless and lead you, and may you and your loved ones always be protected by the blood of Jesus – because an angel wil always be with you, Michelle and “our” little girls.

With Sisterly Love,
Liz Bishop-Goldsmith

I was so proud to see Barack Obama win the presidency. Change is in the air and it’s about time that someone with as much class and charisma take charge and move this country in a more positive direction. Thank you Barack for your tiredless effort and for being a voice for those Americans who don’t have one. I wish you and Mr Biden (and your families) good luck and remember to keep your hands in God’s unchanging hands. God Bless!

I just wanted to say what this historic win meant to me. Of course like everyone else I was truly moved and it was good to be able to tell my two african american sons the barriers that have been broken and how they could truly be anything they wanted to be. However for me it goes much deeper into a territory of self accountabililty and responsibility. It is something that President elect _Barack Obama touched on but unfortunetly was criticized for. But if we don’t teach our kids the importance of education and the value of hard work then we are misleading and misguiding them to think that they can be anything they want to be. The reality of it is Mr. Obama’s success is a result of God’s favor, hardwork, dedication, sacrifice, intelligence, life experiences, and a strong educational foundation. It touched me when I read that his mother would wake up at 4am to teach him when she thought that parts of his education was lacking. As parents this is what we must do if we want are kids to truly grow up and not be limited. This is about us being accountable & responsible-turing off the video games and opening up books. This is truly a chance to change but the change requires more from us. We have a responsibility to our next generation to turn the page on dismal statistics that plague the african american community. In closing I just want to say how very proud and excited I am for the win but also how realistic I am about the actions I need to take to see a change. What an Obama Presidential win means to me is the encouragement and the restrengthening to parent harder to parent better for I am reminded by this win, as a divorced single african american mom of two sons that my efforts and hard work are not in vain. For this I thank you & God Bless!!

I am 72 years old. I am so proud to have lives to see our United States Of America elect and African American President Barack Obama to the White House. I knew it would happen someday, but not in my day.
President-elect Obama and his lovely and intelligent wife Michelle with their two beautiful daughters I pray That God will lead them and the Vice-President
elect Joe Biden and his Family to make this needed change for our United States Of America, and the world.
11/4/2008 I walked 2 hour to my voting poll. Yes my feet did hurt. My grandson thought it was a little strange, because I have a car.
But I told him and others, I did it because I march with Dr. Martin L. King and others
I felt it was History being made and I needed to walk and vote for, then Senator Barack Obama and I am glad I did.God Bless our United States Of America

I have never been so happy about a U.S. president. Barack Obama wants what is best for the greater good, a better life for EVERYONE not just the rich. I cried when I heard he won the election. I’m just a white Bosnian kid who grew up in the midwest, but most of my friends are minorities who come from very different backgrounds, and I could not imagine what I would do without them. Barack Obama is a symbol of empowerment, hope, improvement, change, and the embodiment of what the civil rights movement is all about. I love Obama, and I cannot wait to see the great things he has in store for us!

I feel so blessed to be part of this historical moment, when I was a child I never was concerned about politics but I watch my sons, 13 and 10 watch the debates and learned about electorial & popular votes and show so much interest in Barack Obama, I will never forget the smiles on their faces when Barack was announced to be the next president.
