BET.com has named President-elect Barack Obama as its 2008 “Person of the Year.” We have concluded that no other person has had a more profound impact on Black America. Not only has he inspired a level of enthusiasm unprecedented in recent memory – prompting people of all ages and races to register, vote and become politically active – but he has inspired hope in a political system that many had written off as aloof, ineffective and uncaring. Obama smashed through the color barrier, crushing McCain and his female running mate, Sarah Palin, among women voters, African-American voters, voters under 30, Hispanic voters, first-time voters and voters who earn less than six figures a year. In his historic victory speech, Obama told a crowd in Chicago of more than 125,000, “If there’s anyone out there who still doubts America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of democracy, tonight is your answer.” BET.com believes that Obama indeed represents the epitome of the dream alluded to by the founders. I’ll like to say No he is not the person of the year to me in my opinion he is unqualified to be president & policies are more harmful not dental mental to the average man woman & child. He is a shinning example yes but why did it take someone like him to make the masses of black people realize that you can become anything you want to become?? Did we have that much low expectations of each other? Did we not have BETTER EXAMPLES of hero’s in the past? I’m sorry I find it laughable anyone can compare Barack Obama to Martin Luther King & other prominent leaders of the past. Barack is biracial thats 1st of all & 2nd of all he never mentions anything about the Hurricane Katrina surviors nor did he ever thank others who paved the way for him. And we the American people must ask ourselves why are all these Corporations backing him? Sorry Barack you are not the person of the year to me!! in fact you don’t even come close. But I will wait & see once you get in office who knows I might just be very wrong but I highly doubt your gonna bring about change!

BLESSED FOR SUCCESS !!!!!! who else deserves such a title WOW …. his father was pure blood from our home land, AFRICA , and his mother from the US, GOD reached out and pulled him up for such a time as this, GOD never makes mistakes. his grandparents took him out of this troubled and divided intermedient US not to be tainted by it , but it was all in GOD’ S plan. Um Latoya Barack’s job is not to run the World, No president job is to run the world. Maybe if you knew the constitution you wouldn’t say something so stupid & ignorant. And as I stated earlier No this man is not person of the year in my opinion he doesn’t even come close. His policies are not going to help anyone but we’ll just have to wait & see. I mean I could be wrong (which I highly doubt) but hey who knows. I can’t predict the future to say whether or not he will be a president, I just hope he comes through because as of right now he has a lot on his plate to fix. Thats why I don’t understand why would people vote for a unqualified presidential candidate. I mean we had Bush which was bad enough
remember that change is i natural and always comes whether we like it or not… No one ever stayed a baby forever, we grew into adults and this is the m,ost profound evidence of change. Obama is where he should be ,,,like it or not. This is from a 71 year old woman.

Barach is the person of the year. No person has achieved what he has achieved in 20 months. Regardless of him being mixed he is still a African American man his father is a Nigerian and u dont get no blacker than that to the person who said how can we compare him to Martin Lugher King Jr. Obviously you know nothing about History. Try listening and understanding Martin Luther king speeches because that comment was kinda condesending. Also the reason why blacks had lower expectations is let me start first where have you seen a Black in power as a president. In my books all 43 presidents were white. So how do you expect a Black person or any ethnic think they have a chance at any power position why the trend is repeatly over and over. Barack broke that trend. Now people of all races can say I have a chance. Also what is it to say about Hurrican Katrina, Bush didnt give a f*** at all. He didnt want to help a soul. So dont bring Barack into a mess that was already created that could have been resolved if handled properly. You sound as if you are a hater and Of course your a MCCain supportor. So just sit back, relax and watch what Barack will do. I sure when its all over you will say I am a Barack supportor and how could I have been so ignorant in the past to what I said. He is a Millemium milestone for a whole new generation. Never have you had children, young adults so interested in polictics and what is going on in our country. He has already made a change in this country. No one thought young, black, latinos, hispanics would go out an vote for him. And guess what they did. Change starts from the people first and we haven proven we can change. Go and do some research on Mr. King and then I am sure you will change the laughter that you think is so funny of the comparsion. I will give you one excert from a popular speech.
