Poor Obama for America volunteers. After all those exhaustive hours helping to make Charlotte shine, redirecting traffic around street closures, directing visitors in the right direction and then standing in a line with an overnight wait to get tickets to see President Obama, thanks to mother nature, they won’t get the chance to see him in person. After the Democratic National Convention Committee moved the speech from the Bank of America stadium, the campaign announced that they’d be spicing up their live stream coverage of the speech so that supporters and volunteers would feel like they were really there. President Obama will also host a phone call to the volunteers to thank them for their time and support.
Actor Kal Penn (of Harold and Kumar fame) will host the live-stream event, and you can expect to see him interview A-listers such as Marc Anthony, Elizabeth Banks, Aisha Tyler, Olivia Wilde, Fran Drescher, Zach Braff and Alexis Bledel.
Will the celeb faces, presidential phone call and watch party make up for the disappointment? Comment below and let us know what you think.
