Animal-rights Activists Angry Over Vick’s Return

Quarterback-turned-convict-turned-quarterback Michael Vick apparently did enough to convince NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell that he’s sorry for acts of animal cruelty that landed him in the federal penitentiary for nearly two years, but PETA isn’t buying it. Just moments after the Philadelphia Eagles announced inking a two-year deal with the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback, the animal-rights group lashed out. “You’ve got to wonder what kind of message this sends to young people who care about animals and don’t want to see them be harmed,” Dan Shannon, a spokesman for the group said in a statement. “We hope Vick has learned his lesson, we hope he feels remorseful for his crimes, but there’s not a lot of public indication that that’s the case. At this point, only time will tell.”  PETA members weren’t the only ones expressing outrage. Sports-radio shows were clogged with callers blasting the Eagles’ organization for signing Vick to the deal, worth $1.6 million this year and an additional $5.2 million if the team decides to bring him back in 2011. But the 29-year-old lefty wasn’t without his share of supporters. Donovan McNabb, the Eagles’ quarterback for the past decade, said he actually pressed management to add Vick to the squad. “I pretty much lobbied to get him here, because I believe everyone deserves a second chance, and what better place to come [than] here,” said McNabb, contradicting early reports that he was averse to bringing in such talented competition. “I look forward to him joining us in the next couple days.” Coach Andy Reid said, “Michael has proven he’s on the right track,” Reid said. “I’ve had a chance to talk to Michael a few times to make sure I know exactly where he’s at, and he’s in a good place. …I’m very excited … to have a good football player. You’re talking about one of the top quarterbacks in the league when he was playing, and he’s familiar with our offense, having done it the last few years in Atlanta. It’s a very exciting thing. We feel very good about it.” Ironically, the last time Vick played an NFL Game, he donned a Falcons helmet and played against the Philadelphia Eagles. On Dec. 6, the Eagles face the Falcons.

Vick has paid his debt. Let’s move on. Since animal right advocates are so upset, then what must Vick do to please them. Vick was and is a Marter to these people.

Vick did not serve his sentence. He was let out early (18 months out of 23). In my opinion he did not serve his sentence nor should he be allowed to earn 1.6 million plus with the Eagles. Are people aware that not only was he bankrolling dogfighting, but he was hanging and electrocuting helpless animals held in his own home. Yeh, here’s a person we want as a role model for our children. There are many more deserving athletes who can do Michael Vick’s job. The NFL does not need him, he needs the NFL. I have no sympathy for people who abuse helpless living creatures for their own amusement. Shame on the Eagles. Shame on the fans who are allowing him to earn this kind of money and fame.

Its amazing….the notes left by individuals who consider themselves intelligent and well rounded….cussing, cursing, condeming, and all around slandering the man. Most of you ill thinkers….you act as if you have no sin’s in your life…think about what the world would think of you….if God pull the covers off your nasty, vile, and inhumane deeds done behind closed doors or at sometime in your life. Keep living, sooner or later….your time will come…it might not get the public’s notice like vick’s did…but you’ll get shamed all the same. Do I condone what Vick did…”NO”…but I’ve got enough God’ly wisedom to know when to back off. When God steps in, and sets someone free….you better be careful how you put you mouth to someone. You all who hate….consider this….the only reason you’re squawking so is because you’ve been involved in something and you need some low brow to kick to make you feel better about your own smothered guilt and dirty deeds….cheating with your bro’s woman….stealing from a homey….banging a slow chick….or worse. I’m a serious animal lover….but I don’t Judge or point the finger…I’ve seen to much of God moving and paying others back for hateing…myself included.

Finally…I prayed feverently along with others to God…that if Mr Vick wasn’t repentenant of his crimes….never let him play pro-ball again and let his stay in jail be for the “FULL” term. Looks like to me God has spoken in answer to that very carefully thought out prayer. Since most of the inviduals here can’t get where I’m going, nor fear God enough to get it………Remember this….Jesus said “Let he who is without sin…cast the first stone”…..since all these have passed sentence on Mr Vick…..its coming around to you too….deal is….it’ll be worse than you will be able to handle….very quickly and very near to you………..

From a Guy who’s learned hard truth’s the hard way……and don’t worry….I’m not moved by comments….it just proves my point…..about the intellect…….(smile)

Jerome what makes you think that Vick owes you or anyone else anything, do you really think or believe that he is the only person out there that has abused animals or have been involved with dog fighting and if so do you think those people owe you or anyone else. How can you sit and write shyt like you hope he dies how sick are you. I have really come to believe thart most of the people who write and think such nonsense have issues that don’t relate animal cruelty, I do believe that a lot of it is directed at this man becoming wealthy again and he’s black. People like to say this case has nothing to do with race and to a degree they are right meaning that the offense has nothing to do with case however the treatment in the judicial system and reactions by some of the public now has racism written all over it. Don’t forget it really hasn’t been that many years ago that the dogs you are protecting right now are the same used to keep Afro Americans from voting, some of the people who are screaming about V ick have ancestors or relatives living today that contributed thepoor treatment of Afro Americans, I am wondering if they were forgiven.

I do wish Vick all the luck in the world in regaining his career.
