If African-Americans take a look at our most depply held traditions and beliefs we will find out that they line up exactly with the Republican Party. What happened was the Civil Rights era and the fact that we deserved equal protection and rights under the Constitution of the United States of America. The Democrats were the party that was willing to help us in that fight. In many ways the Civil rights era is over and many of us are still holding on to the fact that the Democrats helped us. The Democrats have been taking the black vote for granted since JFK. Maybe it is time that we re-evalaute where our loyalties lie. It should not be a carnal sin in the black community for one to identify with the Republican Party. it’s a personal and idealogical choice. This is coming from a black democrat.
