‘Precious’ Doe case begins in K.C.
The Kansas City man who allegedly chopped off the head of his girlfriend’s lifeless baby and buried the body in the woods is now on trial. Prosecutors say that Harrell Johnson, 29, was drugged up when he knocked Michelle Johnson’s daughter to the floor because she refused to go to bed. When the girl lay motionless for almost 10 hours, the couple did not seek medical attention, prosecutors say, adding that the duo were afraid they would go to jail on outstanding warrants if they notified authorities. The 3-year-old child, Erica Green, was nicknamed “Precious Doe” after her headless body was discovered in 2001. Her head was found several days later. It took four years before the case was cracked; in 2005, someone gave a tip to a community activist who had kept the pressure on about the tragic death of Erica. Michelle is expected to be called to testify against Harrell, whom she married a year after Erica’s death. Michelle has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Harrell’s defense attorney says that first-degree murder charges are not unjustifiable because nobody intended to kill Erica. Because Harrell withdrew his demand to have the case taken out of Kansas City, prosecutors agreed to take the death penalty out of play. The worst Harrell can be sentenced to is life without the possibility of parole.

I remember hearing this on the news in 2001 when it bought chills to my spine. I thought how can a little girl so young become missing then become a DOE? Each year around the anniversary of this horrific event they would announce it and no one would come forward. In 2005 when they said they had leads, I was releaved to know that NO one could get away for this crime. Each person should be responsible for their actions HIGH OR NOT. BEING HIGH IS NO EXCUSE. FRY THEM BOTH. Because after they came down off of their high they knew a little girl was missing and no one would step up to the plate and be responsible. I live no where near Kansas City and for some reason each year I heard about Precious Doe and how the case was cold for so long. Unitl finally, that day in 2005, Thank you, Thank you , Thank you. I am 43 years old and could not have kids. Some folk only need to experience pregnancy it. That’s a handful to keep you busy. You should not have so many kids until if one comes up missing, you are OK with it, you think know one remembers, no one will miss her becasuse you had so many …SHAME, I am just GLAD and HOPE They get’s more than they deserve.
I head about this case when I was visiting relatives in Kansas city in 2002.n I went to the actual site cause my uncle lived by there at that time. I went took pictures of the site cause at the time I was writing a story about children of color that went missing and the mainsteream media ignores.
I was so sad I was moved to tears. I am so glad this piece of crap is gonna get what he deserves. NO child should ever suffer like this little girl did.
SHe will finally rest in peace
I remember hearing about this on the news a few years back. As I sit here now and read this story it brings tears to my eyes. I have a seven year old daughter and I just can’t see how any human (high or not) could do this type of thing to a chid. It’s a shame.
they need to hang her dumb a_ _ ,she’s a mammy she do not deserve to be called a mother. And then she married this man, where is this child’s biological father? He should have stomped a mud hole in but of them. Where the hell were the family members?
This is crazy. I remeber hearing about this murder. That was my little niece I loved her so much! Now I see what drugs can do to u!
A Beautiful Child….And she married this fool a year after the girl was missing????Both of them need to be put away and never see the light of day……
