$2 million Discrimination Award Falls Through

August 1st, 2008

The Minneapolis Police case will now go before a federal court to decide.

It doesn’t look like the five Minneapolis Police officers who were about to divvy up a $2 million settlement from a racial-discrimination lawsuit will get that cash any time soon. On Thursday, the City Council kicked the deal to the curb by refusing to vote on the settlement. The next step for the lawsuit is federal court, and that won’t happen until next year. The plaintiffs in the case say that they were passed over for promotions because of their race. All parties have been ordered by a judge to keep quiet about the particulars of the case, including why the deal collapsed.

When discrimination is the issue on the table, white folks always start squirming because they are GUILTY and BENEFITING from it and don’t want to give up anything!!!

Those idiots in City Council refused to vote because someone on the city payroll could have done something about the situation before it turned into major issue and they chose not to. Do the right thing and pay these people…personally I’d ask the judge to double the judgement for the sity delaying the payment.

Hopefully ‘d’ their attorneys are thinking like you and thats exactly what will happen. This is about internalized racism being exposed in most (86-90%) of Amerikkka’s police departments happening on a day to day basis! Why do you think this isn’t being talked about on CNN, MSNBC, FOX and quite a few other networks that could be covering this very important story??? Calls have been made, old favors have been claimed and in some cases threats have been (under the pretense of exposing more DIRT) made for those who “won’t play ball!” We all know how that goes….

After the suit is over and they win!! they should sue the city council for Discrimination!! When will the state and Government get tired of paying millions of dollars for the wrongfull deaths and discrimination suits of African Americans? As long as they have taxes payers they will have money!

i live and work in minneapolis and it’s very very hard for people of color in this city.the white women love our black men and dog the women out.at my work place it don’t matter how much education you have they still remind them of that minneapolis is a very hard place to grow as a person of color.and keep your cool.i’ve seen whites live my job for 3years with a hiring freeze on come back and have a job.in the past 6months 13 blacks lost thier jobs for nothing 1 they said taking food.food of all things.i tell my kids to always no when they walk out the house they have 2 things white people will always hold over thier heads.(1-your black-u-r-male) knowing this will make them stronger.

Anything that involves awarding black people money for discrimination will be delayed, postponed, cancelled, deferred, forwarded to another area, reconsidered, debated, appealed to the 10th power, etc…into infinity. To give up the money would mean the white man is admitting his wrong doing…that’s not going to happen…cause they still doing us wrong.

This is Amerikkka isn’t it? Race will always be an issue. Ask the Jenna 6. Ask Rodney King. Ask the blacks at my job in big oil. I’ve seen white folks promoted with highschool diplomas over college educated blacks even when the job calls for an education. Everyone knows it happens but no one has the guts to do anything about. I can’t wait to get the heck out of here when the time comes. We will always be singled out. We will always be African- before American. Now you tell me about the home of the brave and free.
