7th-Grade teacher to students: Obama is a ‘N’-word. Angry parents in the northwest Florida community of Marianna want a middle school teacher fired after he put the “N”-word on the board to describe Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama. The Marianna Middle School teacher, Greg Howard, is now serving a 10-day suspension after writing an acronym on the dry-erase board on Sept. 26: “C.H.A.N.G.E. – Come Help A N*gg*r Get Elected.” But many parents want the 17-year teacher fired. The seventh-grade social studies teacher’s class has 17 White students, six Black students and one Asian student. Initially he was suspended for the day without pay, but that was elevated to the 10-day punishment. He must also write a letter of apology to students. “We feel like the punishment is sufficient,” Larry Moore, superintendent of the Jackson County School District, told The Detroit Free Press. “We did not feel he had to be fired.” NAACP officials say they will reserve their actions in the case until their investigation is complete. Audrey Wad, who has nieces and nephews at the school, didn’t need any more information before expressing her outrage. “To me, it’s hurtful,” she told the Free Press. “The idea that he would impose his political opinion on the children is wrong to me. That’s where he crossed the line.”
Maybe one of those 7th grade students should be the teacher. I think Stupid may learn a thing or two. It is so sad when the adults act more like ill-raised children.
Its a damn shame
I feel as though if they dont do anything about the teacher. the parents should at least get there children switched out of that class. B/c no telling what other BullS*** that teacher has put in there head….he prolly told them that slaves jump on that ship cause they loved being whopped and treat like S*** for S***. I know if it was my daughter and something like that would have happened she would be in another class by now. they need to atleast him do community service also
I feel he should be fired beacause that is very disrespectfull to the students in his classroom. He crossed the line and that is not xceptable O’Bama is trying his hardest and the last thng he needs is people downing him his family supports him and we should to. Like my teachers have always said if you don’ have anything nice to say keep the comment to yourself.
The teacher should be fired because he is infected with the disease of prejudice. By allowing him to remain teaching, in a classroom setting, he is also being allowed to continue spreading the infection of prejudice to his students. Suspending him for ten days is not a solution for his problem. You have to change his entire thought process and mindset. I submitt that it cannot be done in a ten day period. This is the argument that needs to be presented to the Superintendent of the Jackson County School Board.

Do we know how degrating this is? Or do we just sit back and laugh at it like it’s a joke?So although the teacher should have known better than to place this on the board….but what was being discussed, and how was it being discussed before he wrote this. Let’s get alllll the facts first…..and please remember, now today….we have to be careful of everything we do, and say…..even if we are meaning NO harm….but after it is said and done…the harm has already been done.

I think the teacher should be fired because if he thinks of Obama like that then he thinks of all his black student the same way. I would not want my child to stay in that class. The school should be ashamed of basically condoning racism. He should be fired for a comment like that. What is a 10 day suspension going to do(nothing). He still can come back to school and make other comments and think he is going to get away with it. This type of things are upsetting. I am not saying all but, most white people don’t want to see black people get ahead because they are scared they won’t have power.

Caucasians view of what is going on today is instictive for them. “You have nothing to FEAR but fear it’self” “The chickens are coming home to roost” “within the belly of the beast”…. They have the Helen of Troy syndrome, they took away our culture, language and homeland, wouldn’t let us learn to read etc… it leads me to think that even way back then they had a sense of our intellence and tried to stifle same. Barack is slipping through the cracks (as many of us have over the years)…. Teachers teach what they have been taught and this teachers frustrations have changed to fear and he is now lashing out with those things he has been taught. He even thinks he’s clever with his use of acronyms. If McCain was a Jew, and he made a clever acronym out of the word NAZI, I wonder what his punishment would be…. Instead of his boss giving him 10 days suspension, he would probably be begging to just be fired…. When Obama is elected, you can bet a few Afro-Americans will have to pay some sort of way… I’m in my 60’s and I can’t believe that this is the worst thing that has happened…. Do yourself a favor, question your children, because he’s not the only one being CLEVER.
This is a prime example of why we need to be viligant with the people who teach our children…. How many of them really teach our children, I was told by a white teacher, not to place such as high level of expectation on my child. I kindly but firmly let her know, my child, my rules… There a lot of teachers in the inner cities and around the country making sure our kids don’t succeed because they don’t want any competition for their children..
FIRE HIS BUTT and THEN BRING HIM UP ON HATE CHARGES!!!!
