7th-Grade teacher to students: Obama is a ‘N’-word. Angry parents in the northwest Florida community of Marianna want a middle school teacher fired after he put the “N”-word on the board to describe Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama. The Marianna Middle School teacher, Greg Howard, is now serving a 10-day suspension after writing an acronym on the dry-erase board on Sept. 26: “C.H.A.N.G.E. – Come Help A N*gg*r Get Elected.” But many parents want the 17-year teacher fired. The seventh-grade social studies teacher’s class has 17 White students, six Black students and one Asian student. Initially he was suspended for the day without pay, but that was elevated to the 10-day punishment. He must also write a letter of apology to students. “We feel like the punishment is sufficient,” Larry Moore, superintendent of the Jackson County School District, told The Detroit Free Press. “We did not feel he had to be fired.” NAACP officials say they will reserve their actions in the case until their investigation is complete. Audrey Wad, who has nieces and nephews at the school, didn’t need any more information before expressing her outrage. “To me, it’s hurtful,” she told the Free Press. “The idea that he would impose his political opinion on the children is wrong to me. That’s where he crossed the line.”

BECAUSE THE ECONOMIE CRISIS YOU HAVE NOW .JOHN MC.CAIN CAN’T NEVER SOLVE IT. BUT PUT HIM MORE WORSE…THEM VOTE FOR OBAMA.
If he were a black man or woman making a statement like this in a school reguarding a white person, the blacks would be fired. Your school district must be racist if this teacher can get away with this and only face a suspension. What kind of state are you running?

Whites that look down on other races, especially African-Americans, are the N…… because they’re very, very ignorant for thinking there’re the ony human beings that are or could be superior and successful. I have so much to say,but I would rather say it to someone, such as the teacher whose getting off easy, because America continues to be racis. I could imagine the insult the parents of those students felt, the school wouldn’t hear or see the last of me. B. OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT….
It is crazy today. What gives that red-necked to tell his opinon to his class like that. Understanding that yes he does have the right to make the election into a class assigment/ project but still. 10 days is not enough he should be expelled better yet fired and banned from teaching K-12 in every single state. His opinion is meant for at least college students that way have they have the right to put him in his place and believe me i will be one of them if ever teach college in the state of ohio expecially cleveland.

Are you pissed about the teacher saying what he said or are you pissed about everyone else being pissed at this man and his actions? I am one of the ones who DO NOT use the N word and yet I STILL find this offensive. I hear many other s of my race use this connotation but I dont criticize them because they have to figure out their own paths. What this “so- called educator” (because he isnt a teacher) did was wrong and its time that we as African Americans start to learn to call out what we see as wrong, instaed of us hiding behind closed doors voicing opinions that need and should be heard! I am so sick and tired of being preached to Rev Ira….in an above statement and you aswell coming into the chatroom trying to tell us how to live. I believe in God and I know that God gets angry too especially at sin. This is SIN….While God is a loving God he is also a a God of Wrath….This country has allowed so much sin into it that its being punished and we wont even admit that we are being punished by God. This country sits here and pretends to go according to the Bible and yet when you look clearly we see Homosexuality..Rape……Sex Without marriage…. Murder……Stealing…..and this is just the tip of the iceberg. We have the ten commandments that we are supposed to adhere to but NONE of us do….Yet Rev Ira up here somewhere feels the need to preach …its cool to come here and give us the word of God but dont come up here stating something about A man…(Obama) when you dont have the real facts.I hope that you are a pissed because you are not in agreement with what the socalled educator did.This room is full of intelligent people and we know whats wrong and whats right…this is one of those times when something is wrong and needs to be spoken out against. I hope that ANYONE that comes into this room withan idiotic statement trying to agree with that guy doesnt print a comment because they will only make themselves look and sound stupid in the end!!

My…My…My! Here we are in 2008, and close to the year 2009, and this imbecile is still harboring prejudice, hatred, and racism in his heart, due to his inferiority of a Black man. Like it or not, Barack Obama will be our next President of the United States. If anything good could be found from his insulting comment, it would be the fact he has exposed himself to the world, because he failed to control that unruly subject known as a tongue. Unfortunately, these 7th grade students had to suffer the consequences of ridicule of their people. And if the Jackson County school district superintendent feels this teacher’s actions does’nt warrant termination, he is a silent supporter. A silent supporter is one who is in agreement with a thing, but pretends not to be, better known as a hypocrite. None of this surprises me, coming from a state where the officials cannot handle a job as simple as counting votes.

We are in a recession and people are losing their homes, jobs, security and now faith. The 7th grade Teacher is a man of no morals or values and should not be allowed to teach our kids. If the superintendent of the Jackson County School District, allows him to return then he is no better than the 7th grade Teacher. We can no longer allow a slap on the wrist for this disrespectful and racist behavior. We are all human beings whether White America wants to admit it or not. For the people in White America, not saying everyone but to the racists, I just want to let you all know that you are not the only ones living in this County. I am tried of you all thinking that this is your Country and your Country alone. Please wake the HELL up and realize that there are other races and cultures that are and have become Americans. It is time to give all Americans the respect that we so long deserved and leave that negativity thinking in the past.

That teacher should b fired. What tha hell is wrong wit ppl in America. Ppl have been having issues with race for a very long time now & still r.GET OVER IT. We r all ppl do many of tha same things.Our skin clor should not matter at all. This is one subject that makes me soooo ANGRY. I am a white woman with mixed kids.My kids r my life & if someone ever called them out thr name they r gonn go thru hell by me.I ain’t playin that bull****! I am voting for Barack Obama for many reasons.I see us having it alot btr wit him as president. I am 24 yrs old & this will b my first time voting & tha first time I actually pay attention to tha debates & everything else. Pretty sad in 2008. Why don’t everyone cast their vote as they have much right to do and be positive. I see scared and prejudice folks right now! it’s all coming out just like MLK for something as simple as fighting civil rights something we all should hav ehad anyway would be killed. Wake up people nad stop seeing color! this man is sick and I would not wnat him teaching my child under any circumstances at all! This 10 suspension sends a very bad message to our children.
What an awful thing to say!! This person is supposed to be molding our youth. He can teach his own children whatever he would like but perhaps he should have thought more deeply about what line of work he wanted to go into. The profession of teaching is not supposed to have color lines or bias of any kind. That’s not to say that people can’t or shouldn’t have their own opinion but a person going into that profession should have the moral where with all to know better! Him being fired should send a clear message to anyone else that would even think to exhibit such behavior in the class. It may even make other people think about their words or actions in the future. I think the parent that made the comment about “imposing his political opinion” is slightly off. I think the bigger concern should be the tone of hate that this teacher took. It’s a shame that he would take away the hope our children can potentailly face in the future and that someone in such a position would teach children limitations is disgusting to say the least! In fact, if he lives long enough these children will be the same adults that are running and molding the country that he lives in. What if they think back to what they heard and were taught by Mr. So and So in Social Studies class, it just may alter their judgement when making political decisions about old, caucasian, men!
