Anquan Boldin’s Pass Defender is Fined $50,000

Anquan Boldin’s pass defender is fined $50,000.
NFL receiver Anquan Boldin is recovering from a helmet-to-helmet hit that sidelined him in a Sunday game versus the New York Jets. The Arizona Cardinals’ Boldin was immobilized and carted off the field before being checked out for injuries at a hospital. Cardinals Coach Ken Whisenhunt wants the league to review the play for violations. Jets safety Eric Smith, who delivered the hit to Boldin, has been suspended for a game and fined $50,000 for the indiscretion. NCAA player Dante Love was temporarily paralyzed in a recent game and is recovering from an injury after a similar helmet-to-helmet collision.
Why in the hell is this fine so damn high?
good thing that boldon got movement back i never want to see a player get paralyzed during a football game and from a lot of players from professional to high school never wish that on each other.
i was at that game and the sound was even more devasting live! you could feel that brother’s pain! that was horrible. everyone cringed when they hit. i pray that there isn’t any permanent damage. my prayers go out to him. anquan, much love & respect!!
I was at that game too and from where I was sitting, I had a clear view of the play. Was it intentional? I don’t think so. However, it was an unfortunate accident. In the game of football when you have two sides (offense and defense) focused on their appointed goals, incidents such as what occurred twnds to happen. Can they be prevented? probably not. Actually there were TWO defenders in that play. Not just one. I also feel that the fine was a little excessive and a suspension a little harsh. Athletes who play these sports know the risks. May be a harsh accessment but a true one nonetheless. I prayed for Bolden as I watched the ambulance sit in the parking lot (That’s another story) before taking him and his family to the local hospital. Football is a hard hitting sport and God definitely is on the field every week.
