Automakers Leave Capitol Hill Empty-Handed

November 20th, 2008

Automakers leave Capitol Hill empty-handed. GM, Ford, Chrysler leave Congress empty-handed on Tuesday after they told lawmakers that their situation was dire and the needed help. After hearing from the automakers, who asked for $25 billion in aid, the lawmakers deadlocked on a plan to bail out the big three automakers, leaving General Motors Corp. facing the prospect it could run out of cash before a new Congress can come to the rescue next year. Democratic congressional leaders disagreed with Republicans and President Bush over how to provide $25 billion in aid to GM, Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC. But they’re running out time to find a solution, since only two days remain in a lame-duck session for lawmakers to decide upon a compromise.

If they sell the private jets and give back a portion of their multi-million dollar salaries, they can bail themselves out. Americans have enough financial problems without addition idiots to the lot.

What is wrong with these wealthy people, Oh Hello, what happen to all the profits that they have made over the year? Get a grip, I think the working class who is hurting needs it more than any one else. I’m sorry I have no pity for them, it’s more cars on the lot than there is people to buy them, so did they not think about this years ago!

How is it wealthy a#@ people can go ask the government to bail them out when the citizens of the country that pay taxes can’t even get a break on their mortgages, utility bills, car payments and their kid’s tuitions.

We the people have 200% less than what these large companies make in a day and they need a bail out. WOW!!! I need to go to Capitol Hill in my beat up Ford Taurus and ask for them to bail me out of my student loans and son’s tuition for the next 3 years. Lewt’s see what they say to me then.

Please!!! Don’t give them SH*&!!!!!

I have to agree about the private planes and humongous salaries. Get a big grip on yourself, Why should they get one dime when I as a disability retired on fixed income person cannot even go to the grocery store, pay for my meds, go to the doctor or any other thing that I NEED. Why should I be held up to help pay for these folks to roll in money to play with. People have too much nerve. The bottom line is pure unmitigated GREED.

Meekah, you might have a good idea about going to capitol hill. Maybe the people should boycott, march to Washington and demand a bail-out…. It would be cheaper to bail the people out of their debts than to continue to bail out corporations who have no respect for anyone else. I don’t think it will take $750 billion to just assume 50% of the populations bills, We would be able to feel better about ourselves and the corporations would get back on their feet because we the people will have money to spend.

These are some of the same companies that charged astromonical interest rates to minorities purchasing their vehicles. They made hundreds of millions if not more. This is a clear case of mis-management & greed. Now they are asking that the same pple they cheated & discriminated against to help them? Why can’t some of the american pple get bailed out this easily?
