Baltimore’s Mayor Gives the Finger?

Baltimore Mayor Sheila A. Dixon says she wasn’t flipping a bird at photographers, despite a photograph of her in Tuesday’s edition of The Daily Record with her middle finger up as she seemingly glares into a camera. “I have a habit of using my fingers to put my glasses up,” Dixon said at a news conference that was broadcast on WJZ-TV. “I really think that, that was a low blow, and I really did not appreciate it, but, you know, such is life in this business. Now I’m going to be very careful how I put my glasses on and how I adjust them. But, you know, I really think that was a low blow.” The photo was taken by Daily Record staff photographer Rich Dennison at a City Council luncheon Monday. Adding to the notion that Dixon was giving photojournalists the finger was the timing. A camera crew, which had been ejected from the chamber, was allowed back in just moments after Dixon consulted with her staff. Plus, the mayor can’t be too fond of reporters these days. She’s been a favorite target of the media after being indicted Friday on 12 criminal counts, including theft, perjury and misconduct in office. The indictment alleges that Dixon accepted thousands of dollars in gifts from real estate developer Ronald H. Lipscomb, whom she dated in 2003 and 2004. She’s also accused of accepting gift cards from Lipscomb that were intended for needy children.

They need to leave this woman alone! Her man brought her gifts, so what. What man and woman don’t exchange gifts during their relationship? The separation between a politicians personal life and political life should be respected. Leave this woman alone. And I don’t blame her if she did flip the bird…phuck the media!
Mayor Dixon is a hard working woman and has been working for the people of Baltimore for years. I am like Trina, what man and woman don’t give each other gifts, they dated for two years. If she took gift cards for needy children from him, she probably gave them to the needy children (if that incident even happened, you know the media makes stuff up sometimes). What about ???# Chaney shooting his friend during that hunting incident, why didn’t he get prosecuted? Whatever!

I dont know because Balitmore is hurting, school system, police, and other organization are in dier need of money and this lady is taking lavish trips and not to mention that guy she used to date may very well been giving her gifts for special help to get control of property. Come to Baltimore and you will understand what I’m talking about.
Every major city is hurtin but I understand what you mean bout B-More. However she was indicted and that does not mean she is guilty. She did hire a local police commissioner and crime has been effected. Give the sister some credit.

I have a habit of doing that too. When i am like at the store or anywhere and its just a habit i have.I guess i understand why people are offended now even though it wasn’t something she meant to do.It was her instinct telling her to pull the glasses up a little.
Even though I’m willing to give Mayor Sheila Dixon the benefit of the doubt and presume that she is innocent until guilty, I would not blame her (or anyone in the public eyed and the crosshairs of the media) for flipping the bird to those journalists. It’s time that they are given the disrespect that they have earned. I’ve seen, up close, the way that the media vultures operate.
