Bernie Mac Is Alive, Recovering From Pneumonia
August 4th, 2008Rumors of the comedian’s death shock and frighten fans.
Both Bernie Mac’s publicist and his wife are refuting rumors that the popular comedian died this past weekend. Mac was hospitalized and recovering from pneumonia late last week, publicist Danica Smith told The Chicago Sun-Times. By Saturday, fans in Mac’s native Chicago and those browsing Web sites throughout the country were expressing sadness and posting tributes to the “late” Kings of Comedy alum. It appears that a hoax involving calls to various TV newsrooms led to the scare and caused at least one Chicago network affiliate to scroll the news across the screens of its viewers’ sets at home. “It is a very horrible rumor,” Smith says. “It is absolutely untrue.” Mac’s condition was, in fact, improving, Smith adds: “He’s doing great and hopes to get out soon. NO comedian ever has tickled me like you bernie. You are the reason I watch comedians today. I thank god for the experince. You are the best in my book. Your absence saddens me so much, but I truly believe you did what the lord would have you doing, making others laugh and now he needs you home. Bernie Mac was a true inspiring actor and comedian. He was very loved and never will be forgotten. Personally he was one of the funniest people with a very big sense of humor towards life and all its crazy obstacles. He always knew how to put a smile on everyones face even if it was a stupid joke. He will be remembered and always loved. God knew he was going to get a very special person up there so he had to go. We love u BERNIE MAC!!!! You are THE MAN AND ALWAYS WILL BE…………….LOVE U!!!!!!!!!

Bernie Mac Family: Condolences to the family. Bernie will be missed from everyone in NY, NC, ATL and LA. We are true fans of Bernie. We have been supportive of Bernie from Comedy Shows — TV Show — Stand-Up and all that he has represented as a Man of God. Bernie was a wonderful comedian, a fabulous family man and a great role model to minorities and young men around the world.

We just heard the news of Bernie Mac passing away and we are all in SHOCK!!! We cannot believe this news!! Our condolences go out to the Mac Family. As I am typing this comment I am at a loss for words because I just cannot believe this…. Bernie’s comedy was one of a kind, there is no one like him!!!

It is with great sadness that I write this message but I know that Bernie Mac left us all with a message to live by….and that is to live your dream and your best life while you still have time. He was a natural…his ability to grace a stage made us all better as we were able to laugh and forget some of our own problems for a brief period of time. May his light continue to shine and I pray God’s peace will comfort his amily especially his wife, daughter and grandchild.
