This show is really to promote new ministries. It’s really not about those that are already out there. I will say that we as Christians really have to stop being soooooooooo critical of every thing. We’re silent with the issues that matter the most, but we find a need to “judge” things such as this. We need to be more concerned about the impact that the church is making in our communities. Why are so many of our children dying and the church( the body of Christ) doesn’t raise its voice.

Why do we get caught up in the small issues and become less and less concerned about the “FUNCTIONING BODY OF CHRIST”!!

THE CLARK SISTERS ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BET WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!?

Did anyone on here notice that 21:03 is in the line up??? They’re a fairly new group on the gospel scene. Since recently giving my life to God, I have really taken to this group. They are an encouraging trio of young black men living for God. Does my spirit good :) However, I am confused as to why Deitrick Haddon isn’t on. Deitrick Haddon is baaaaaaaaaaaad. And he is real in his walk with God. I have my feelings on “worldy” talent “performing” for God, but I won’t get on that soapbox. Anywho, if at all possible, I will be watching.

I understand where youy all are coming from and i myself enjoy some of the new gospel music that is out there but the only reason you enjoy these songs are because most sound so much like secular music, truth be known a lot of the beats are from old hip hop , rand b or what have you.I never tire of listening to true saved gospel artist ,anybody can sing a gospel song that has a voice but it is the conviction behind it.

Just wanted to say a few words and piggy back off one of the other bloggers that said the reason why BET have the same artist is due to them selling the most units and have a NAME in gospel music, is huge. I remember when Bishop Hezekiah Walker was on the Celebration of Gospel with the Love Fellowship Tabernacle Choir, not the Crusade Choir, about 7 years ago, they blew me away and the reason why they were on the show was due to the name of Hezekiah Walker and because they hit #5 on BillBoard when their album was released.

I said all of that to say that I went to the BET event in LA and yes there were some artisits that I could have done without but the artisits like Kurt Carr, Mary Mary and Bishop Hezekiah Walker and LFC, they were awesome.

Trust me, you all will not be disappointed when you view the event on television!! Take care and have a wonderful 09!!

God bless all who will be ministering to the world through song and praise. God uses whom HE want to use. So let’s stop hating on the same ol same ol. It’s their season and God has a purpose for them at this time. When God one day bless you to shine in any aspect, you don’t people treating you this way. Just received what and who God has before you. I’m sure on Sunday, Jan. 25th, you will be bless. Start thinking about what God want. It’s time we Bless HIM.

I agree with some of your viewers, it is good giving some of the other gospel artist a chance on your show even some fresh new gospel singers as my self. I feel that i can sing as well as some of the artist on your show ,it’s just that GOD have’nt put me in the right place at the right time ,I know he will soon and when he do,i am going to sing praises to him all over this world. I know there are people out there in this world that need to hear his word thru song like some of you are doing now, I figure the more we have to spread his word the faster we’ll get the message to the people that really really need him the most. we will always need him but. there is some one out there who do not know how to reach him and that’s why we as singers have to make it happen with our lyrics and music. so be bless and lets make it happen as our new president OBAMA says IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE and MAY GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!!!

Dag, ppl hatin hard. I agree, there could be better acts, but you never know how God might move at the special. LL Cool J, you never know what he could do. (Granted, I think that T.R.U.T.H. could take his spot, but whatever.) He and Keyshia (although I don’t like her much) could be used to get the young ppl into gospel music.

As for those that are hating on gospel rap, I love it. As a fan of both hip hop AND gospel music, as well as many others, I don’t see what the problem is. The rappers are preaching the gospel to a great track. You like poetry? You like the word of God? You like sermons? You like music? Mix all that, you got gospel rap. Open your minds and hearts. Don’t judge or condemn ppl or they’ll make it to Heaven before you do. Besides, you never know what task God has given them for the Kingdom.

The show was okay. I just wish the people who plan this event would show case other artist other than Mary Mary and Kirk Franklin (who I love don’t get me wrong). Gospel music can be huge if we stop picking on the same acts year after year.

Darlene McCoy, Onitsha, Surel, The Singletons, Lisa McClendon, Izzy… there are so many I can just go on and on… I just wish the organizers would really look at Gospel music as a whole and not just those artist who are popular. The goal is to spread the good news and that doesn’t have to be through the same ole’ people. No disrespect to Donnie and all those who did perform, lets shake things up a bit for next year. I know that God is using lots of people and I hope that you can find them, if you want some suggestions please feel free to ask me.

God Bless,
RTSH

Old school Gospel is where the foundation comes from Shirley Cearsar, Clarke Sister,Hezekaih walker, etc. Truth be told alot of the new gospel singers and groups are relatives of the elder groups. Some are daughters & sons of preachers etc; therefore there inspiration came from god through way of the ministering foundation( OLD SCHOOL)

Yes we love Mary Mary, Kirk Franklin, Dietrick & Damitria Haddeon,Donald Lawernce (That’s My man of god Ministering throught song). Yet we need to hear the Trail Blazers because they still sooth our ears, hearts & Minds. Remember there is a season for everthing .Stay blessed !

Celebration of Gospel 2009 was a blessing. God Favored Me is by Hezekiah Walker – then Marvin Sapp came in……that’s when I started paying attention – the 3rd guy was DJ Rogers – don’t know him. If you google it; the video is @ 1800gospel.com, actually all the performances are there. agree w/all the comments, but know the major acts keep performing because those are the names that people are paying attention to. Shirley Ceasar is beautiful, I like hearing what Kirk Franklin is up to and Donnie Mc has great vocals and is so spirit filled. I hope Mary Mary will find some new wardrobe folks – the outfits they were not the be appealing for their body shapes. There are too many plus size styles they could have worn. I enjoyed hearing “Jesus Is Love”, the African group and the 2103 guys group had lots of energy, enjoyed them. Based on the comments before mine they must have missed Rance Allen w/Kirk Franklin and Marvin Sapp were both on. Be Blesse!!!
