Hey, Bro Jay, lighten up! I’m a white girl who grew up in Detroit in the 60s and 70s. Why wouldn’t I LOVE Motown? Why wouldn’t anyone love Motown? It was great and why shouldn’t anyone honor it by loving it, embracing it, sharing it, celebrating it? It is a pleasure of life in this tough world to hear, to sing, to play, to dance to.

Oh how I loved Motown. I do agree that NO ONE will ever come close the great Marvin (I’m still tearing up thinking of him gone) and there are few others that will truly never be topped in pure skill. Still I love that people keep trying to sing them and keep reminding the newer generations of that great music history of ours. It was for all of us to live and love, not just for black or just for white.

I love rock too, but I don’t remember any white kids upset with Jimi or Sly or Tina or so many others that came later. Why would we? They were great and so we loved them for their talent – not for the skin color. It was about love of music and for me it still is.

Please just try to close your eyes and listen and enjoy, remembering that music is food and salve for the soul no matter the color of the skin of the listener or the musician. I wish you many years of love of music of all kinds. Peace and God bless…..
