Black College Students Not Admitted in Chicago Club

When a group of more than 200 hundred graduating seniors from Washington University in St. Louis headed to Chicago a night of fun, they didn’t expect to file complaints with the Chicago Human Rights Commission, the Illinois Attorney General, or the U.S. Department of Justice when they returned.
At least six African-American students were denied entry into the Original Mother’s bar for what security personnel deemed as inappropriate dress.
Okay, that happens from time to time. However when a black student switched pants with his white friend and still wasn’t admitted, many in the group thought that race played a larger role in the situation than attire.
Off a quick read, it seems more of a ’safe before sorry’ type deal than racism. Was it wrong in this particular situation? Of course it was. Should the club apologize to the Black student? Of course it should. The main point is that innocent Blacks are paying the price for the crimes/deeds that their brother-en are committing daily. The level of crime in the Black community is staggering compared to any other race. This is shown through prison logs, and through crime blogs in the news. If Blacks stopped committing so much violent crime in the US, this wouldn’t have happened…period.

I DONT THINK THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE N ANYBODY THAT THINKS THAT IS CRAZY. CRIMINALS DONT WEAR CERTAIN CLOTHES 1ST OFF N DRESS CODE POLICY IS POLICY…Y ARE THE JEANS ACCEPTABLE 4 THW WHITE MAN BUT NOT THE BLACK MAN…IT SEEMS THAT DRESS CODES CHANGE WITH THE FASHIION AT 1ST WHEN WHITE RICH PEOPLE WERE WEARIN ED HARDY IT WAS OK BUT JUS THIS WEEKEND THE VOODOO REJECTED MY BLACK FRIEND B/C HE HAD IT ON N THATS B/C THATS WAT BLACKS R WEARIN NOW..ITS A BUNCH OF BULL 2 ME!!!

I actually don’t believe this at all, I’m very good family friends with the owners of Mothers and there racial sentiments are not being fairly portrayed at all! They are warm, welcoming and loving people and I’m positive that the owners have not taught theyre workers to deny anyone based on racial motives.
Content aside, this article is so poorly written it’s embarrassing. Check that first paragraph for more typos than topic.
I’m sorry, are we really surprised about this story? A club not letting individuals in because they are black! We need to face the fact that racism is alive and well and that they probably did not let these individuals in because they were black. It is sad to know that incidents such as this still happens in America. I don’t think this club can justify a response as to why they did not let a group of blacks in, especially after the black student switched pants with a white student. It is clearly obvious that this refusal was not based on attire. I hope the complaints are taken seriously and that something is done about this issue.
BFloyd your right. This is poorly written, especially the last sentence “But after a black students switched pants with a white student who was admitted and still was not let in–the group thought racism played a role.” It has a dangling modifier, I don’t who their talking about.

Mother’s night club has also other discrimination complaints against them. Look it up. The story is very true, I am friends with and go to school with the guys not admitted, and it is very real.
Face the facts people don’t want to put up with you people and your jeer, curt, solecism, tumultuous behavior ! You people gild the ‘lity ! And are a problematic issue where every you people Go !

It is no surprise that this is still going on back in the early 90’s I was denied entry into Mother’s but my white friends were let in. On Division Street I lot of the clubs let only a handful of african anerica in. So it was not about being safe it was about color it is sad that almost 2o years later this is still happening. I was born and raised in Chicago so I have first hand experience.
It’s because blacks don’t tip. I’m a bartender – I short pour their drinks and charge ‘em an extra dollar. Hahahahaha!
