Black lawmaker apologizes to Sarah Palin.
Florida Democrat Alcee Hastings, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, says he regrets his verbal slap-down of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin last week when he essentially called her a redneck and a racist in the same breath. Speaking to a group of Blacks and Jews, the lawmaker quipped, “If Sarah Palin isn’t enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention,” Hastings said. “Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and Blacks. So, you just think this through.” In a statement he released Tuesday, Hastings said, “I regret the comments I made last Tuesday that were not smart and certainly not relevant to hunters or sportsmen.” Hastings was addressing the National Jewish Democratic Council where he was urging those in attendance to support Obama over Palin. Of course it was just the kind of comment to evoke the rage of the Republican Party. Matt Brooks, who is executive director of the Republican Jewish Coalition, said Hastings “stooped to the worst kind of divisive politics. There should be no place in our country for this sort of political discourse. We can constructively disagree on the issues without denigrating others.” But Hastings didn’t completely back down from his earlier comments. “The point I made, and will continue to make, is that the policies and priorities of a McCain-Palin administration would be anathema to most African Americans and Jews,” he said in his statement. “I regret that I was not clearer and apologize to Governor Palin, my host where I was speaking, and those who my comments may have offended.”
Do you see how quick she fills in with lies when she is stumped? her best weapon is a lie.
PALIN is a flat out liar and will lie about any and everything to win. True Republican…….
II think there are a lot more illuminating facts about Gov Palin that warrant further scrutiny like her lack of knowledge on foreign policy.Or the fact that she recently obtained a passport or her husband’s involvement with a separtist group. Calling her a redneck doesn’t fully explain the reason why this woman represents our greatest fear. The fear of 4 more years of lying and 4 more years of useless bloodshed in the interest of “Homeland Security”

He truly is speaking the truth. Palin is a threat to our very existence, and all those casting light on her are doing the public a great favor. The woman is a menace, and anything that can be done should be done to assure that she does not ascend to the throne currently occupied by old man Cheney.

You don’t apology for telling the truth. Maybe you apology for the way you said it. Palin is everyone’s and I do mean every U.S. citizens’ worst nightmare. She govern over less than 1,000 Alaskians, and she wants to be considered as V.P. to govern over more than millions of Americans. She’s a disgrace, uneducated, and a liar who needs to use a life-line to “phone a friend” before she can answer a simple question. My prayers are “Lord, Send Her Back to Alaska!!!” and “God Bless America” with right person for President (Obama). “Lord Have Mercy on Us, teach us good Economics for our Economy” in the name of Jesus. AMEN!!! AMEN!!!
Well since her unmarried pregnant daughter’s baby daddy, has made it known to the world or anyone who visited his myspace page before it was vanished, he is a REDNECK and proud of it.
So if this is what your daughter is laying up with and you and your family are proudly, happily welcoming him into your family…What does that make you.

If Sarah Palin was a black woman, would you feel the same way? Nope, thought not…oh, you’re not biased at all.
The term ‘redneck’ has a lot of racial connotations attached to it. The strength of the word may not be too harsh, but the intention/hate behind it is volatile. Why is it ok to use the word (redneck) OK, but using any negative word towards Blacks not OK? Double standards do not help any progression…believe me.
Palin and John McCain God help us Palin has yet to come to the East Coast where you have large numbers of African American and Latino’s. And the few Blacks that are in her State have little to say about her One thing I give John McCain credit for all Republican are alike Remember George Bush Senior and Dan Quail he could not spell.

I need to check myself but I actually agree with rednblack! Alcee’s words were inappropriate especially coming from a congressman. Now, I dont disagree with him, but he could have expressed it in a “nicer” way and still got his point across. Gotta learn to play the game.
STOP!!!!!! Please don’t stoop down to their level. We all know, including them that she’s not quilified for the VP job. What they’re doing is to show us, they could put anyone in that position against a black man or woman and we don’t have a chance or a leg to stand on. If we could come together for a change, not only for us as individual but for the country as whole we could change what’s going on around us. TRY IT, go out to VOTE and if you don’t, PLEASE don’t cry about the mess our country in and the benefits that you can not get. High gas, food, and health care prices, loss of employment and homes.
