Black Students Given Fake “Ghetto” Names in Yearbook
June 28th, 2008“Tay Tay Shaniqua,” “Crisphy Nanos” and “Laquan White” are some of the fake “ghetto” names placed under photos of African American Students at Charter Oaks High School in a suburb of Los Angeles. A few of the students suspect that the act was a tasteless prank but they, as well as their parents, remain outraged. “A yearbook is very significant and something you always hold on to,” said Toi Jackson, whose daughter, Evanne, is member of the school’s Black Student Union. “When she shows it to her kids she will have to explain why she has the name Crisphy.” The local school board president called the act atrocious and said he has identified the student responsible. To add insult to injury, the school passed out stickers with the correct names for the students to place in the yearbook. For parents of the affected students, that gesture is not enough. They are demanding a full reprint of the yearbook.
Yes get a full reprint at the prankters expense..this is right out wrong. I’m hoping all the year books will be taken up and destroyed….forget about those stickers with the correct names being handed out. This is crazy, and the ones that did it have a crazy ..evil mind. I hope theres a victory in this for the ones that had their names changed.
Where was the adult to look over the year book before it went to the printer.

They should definitely reprint the entire yearbook. And as an African-American i too am very affended. They wonder why we are so angry. This story is a tragedy.
Now thats very ignorant that someone would do that because it is true that people name their name but its not anything to make fun of so people feeling are different than other so no-one would really know what some of these kids reaction would be since already its getting hard for them to got to school as it is so no I dont think this would be a nice prank to pull I hope no-one has forgot about what happened at Columbine H.S……………..
It’s really ashame that people would go so far as to give “nicknames” to students… the yearbook needs to be reprinted and yes at the students who are responsible’s expense they probably won’t learn a lesson; but hate comes with a price.
IT IS A SHAME.. THAT AT IT IS THE TIME OF THEIR LIVES, AND THIS THEY WORKED SOOO HARD FOR, TO HAVE SUCH A DEROGORTORY AND HANIOUS THING TO HAPPEN. YES IT SHOULD BE FIXED!!!!
I think that the school should reprint the yearbook and to the victims that were named those names give them free yearbooks BUT YA’LL CHECK OUT THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO !!!!!
