I agree with some of you, but not most of you. The First thing is; when we watch other superstars who can really sing high notes and not do other things to over come them high notes. We for instance; Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston, Jasmine Sullivan, Janet Jackson and Mary J. etc., all of these women are classy ladies who don’t have to show their body. We as AA women should come to some point in life a say, “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH”. But those of us who like this foolishness don’t have a problem with Beyonce showing off her body and doing the X-rated dance shaking that she does. It’s not about hating on anyone just look at the difference in other audience who do just fine by not exposing their bodies and sell millions of record. Most of the AA women who like this kind of disgrace either, have tattoos over their bodies with their engraved man name on them and are no longer together with them. Then, they go get other tattoos to cover it up. When God created us, it wasn’t to apply scripture writing and body art over our body. So, some of these women like the way Beyonce perform on stage because, some of them like this performance, because this is what they like to do. We have a beautiful First Lady and her young kids, to whom some of us should look up to and say; “WOW I want to be admire like that some day. Well some of us let’s our kids imitate Beyonce with her outrageous dancing and then put it on you-tube for others to view and supposing say; “OH THATS TO CUTE” It’s okay to perform, but at least have the decency to respect other’s that watch your performance. I can say that most men like these kind of reaction from her, but if you’re a classy lady and have respect for yourself, this is not an eye catching performance for you. Some of her songs that she writes are mostly foolish. Most artists have songs that all generation can relate to and reminisce with like; Mary J. Sade`, Alicia Keys. Those of you who defends Beyonce and states that she is Married, well she should perform those things with her husband and if he was a good man, he would tell her; I think you’re going a little to bit to far with the outfits. Then again he considers his self a gangster and that’s how gangster rolls.

lolgigi – WELL SAID……. The only thing missing from Beyonce performances is a pole…. (if you want to call them performances). It is her choice to “display” herself in such a manner – but her “display” is not respected by everyone obviously not Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. Walk like a duck, look like a duck, and make the sounds of a duck, MOST LIKELY you will be veiwed and judged as a duck.

I agree on several fronts. First, Camilla has nerve talking about anyone while she was messing with a married man. However, with that said, I am beginning to get sick of looking at Beyonce in those butt ugly body suits that she thinks are flattering. I feel that people who have true singing talent do not have to resort to these antics. She lip-synchs and shakes her derreire. Get some good choreography, meaningful songs and more attractive costumes/clothing. You are definately beautiful. I just want to hear some good music from you. Your music is boring and repetative. I would like to hear more of Ledisi, India Arie, Lalah Hathaway, Dianne Reeves, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Lina, Anita Baker, Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole, MARY J…I could go on forever. The only time I enjoyed Beyonce was when she sang the National Anthem for a football game. You have a voice! Use it! But get someone else to write your songs. Beauty fades…..TALENT LASTS FOREVER!!!

I agree with Camilla. I swear when I saw the video world premier on 106 and Park I almost hit the floor. I couldn’t believe that Jigga let that happen. I have 4 children 3 which are girls. I agree that that sends a very bad message. Men do tend to disrespect women because of images and the way that they carry themselves. That video needs to be remade or aired during twilight hours out of the youths sight and mind. That is a family show and that took that program into the wrong direction. Women already around the world are being exploited by force she’s not sending the right message for women and children in those situation. She should have taken that money for production and dancers and sent it to the Global South were rapes, malnutrition, and illiteracy of less fortunate is running rampant.

Last time I checked, Beyonce is a young married woman…not an old dead one. Jay Z met her this way…as a trail blazer. I personally don’t think the video is out of line, she is portraying a fantasy and I thought she was sexy without being raunchy. Beyonce’s confidence in her body does not lessen her talent or demean herself as a woman nor does it demean her marriage. Let’s all remember that this isn’t some teenage girl who still lives under the rules of her parent. Yes she influences young women, but if a music video is able to persuade your child into disobeying what your parental expectations are of her…then you have a bigger problem than you thought. Times have different, its a woman can be both sexy and a smart business woman…its ok!

lolgigi: I don’t have much to add, because you said a mouth full in your message. In other words, you were %100 correct in your message about Beyonce. To the one’s who think that she is doing an anwsome job exposing her body just to get attention and for the $$, these young women are idiots. Beyonce, and any of women (Hannah Montana, Brintney, etc) are no role model for the little girls who are coming up for tommorrow. Yes, Beyonce is a beautiful person, when you add the WEAVE, MAKEUP, CONTACTS, and all; But, she would be much more if she would come back down and be the person that God intented for her to be. He gave her the voice, but not with the attent of her to shake her A _ _ with her God given ttalent.

I agree with you lolgigi, it needed to be said. You should be able to tell a married woman from a single woman. I personally am sick of looking at the same moves in every video with the leotards & the chair. If you are what they say you are, you can dress sexy & still be classy & not trashy. Well some would say “she’s not trashy” is that only because she is in the spotlight & the leotards have rhinestones? However, on the other note one would have a different outlook if she was the girl next door to you & your husband acting & dressing like that. Things that make you say hmmmm…….

I find it crazy that when beyonce does a video everybody has a problem with it but when mondonna or britney spears or gaga or another pop chick does it nobody seems to have a problem with it. I personally think its because she Multi Talented she sings, dances, acts, owns her own business, own publishing company, etc. What is it that she doesnt do? She only dresses that way for the stage and thats it…off stage she is classy and she keeps it that way…everybody trying to bring her down but its not going to happen so stop trying…

I noticed that there are far more comments on this article than some others. So I’m leaving this message concerning Princess & the Frog for anyone who has children in their lives. I am taking my child to see this movie. Don’t allow any criticism stop us from supporting this cast of actors/actresses or this historic movie. Some are asking, “Why does the African-American princess have to turn into a frog?” Have we forgotten about Shrek? They turned out in record numbers to support Shrek. The princess remained an ogre on Shrek. Many people want African-Americans & other viewers to stay home so that they can say that we don’t support movies created for us, & so that’s why they don’t continue to give large budgets or any budget for our films. Don’t stay at home! Let’s show our support for our own!

Realize that this is a business and marketing strategies is done to promote success(money). Today sex is what is selling and you jump on the bandwagon and become “the queen of music,” or you get left behind. So Beyonce chose to be on top and she did what it took to do that. I think that it is negative and a bad influence to young people. Some of them really believe that the artists really dress showimg their a** on an everyday basis. They don’t know it’s a costume. It’s a part of the marketing strategy.
