Chicago Killing Spree Continues
April 25th, 2008Police have found five young bodies; last weekend it was 36 shootings in two days.
Chicago Police said that the bodies of five young people were found in a run-down South Side house Wednesday, just days after the Windy City endured a bloody weekend that left nine people dead. The three men and two women apparently had been shot death, although an official coroner’s report has yet to be released, The Associated Press reports. “This is very serious,” Chief of Detectives Thomas Byrne told AP. He said Autopsies were scheduled for Thursday, the medical examiner’s office. “There’s five victims. There’s five families right now that are grieving over this.” Police spokeswoman Monique Bond said that a woman visiting the home found the bodies Wednesday afternoon. All of the victims were in their 20s, she said. Authorities said it appeared that someone had broken into the home, but police believe the killer knew the victims. “We don’t think that the neighbors need to worry,” she said. “We believe that it’s been contained inside this residence.” The deaths draw further attention to Chicago as a city that out of control. Last weekend, 36 shootings took place over a two-day period. Nine people were killed. That followed a six-month period during which more than 20 Chicago school students were shot to death. The wide availability of guns on the city’s streets has been a major focus of activists such as the Rev. Jesse Jackson, who has been arrested in recent months for protesting inner-city gun shops.

AS a black man coming from the chicago area I think that the problem can be addressed by looking into our youth wants and needs. The gang and drug life can be defeated if we open up doors of opportunity and give them positive avenues to earning money and creating a better way of life for them and future youth.They must be taught that their children which wil be the future generation depends on their actions .Enough is enough already. Stop the madness!!!!

GUESS WHAT! It’s not going to get any better! This is a White Man’s dream and a Black Man’s nightmare. If the United States was’nt so busy trying to make another country safe then something could be done to rid the country of this gun problem. Just like the military go door to door in Iraq looking for protential preditors,they could do it in this country also. The billions of dollars spent overseas could just as well be spent here.

I have lived in Chicago and was blessed by the Hand of God to go into every neighborhood in Chi-town, if you have never felt what goes down in the urban jungle than quit talkin, quit guessing and quit blaming. I’m from Chicago too. There are churches on every corner in many African-American neighborhoods. To own a gun in this city is illegal. If I’m not mistaken, some of the murders were committed by the use of knives and other weapons. So neither stronger gun laws or more churches is the answer.
It appears that another solution is needed.

What is wrong with some youngsters? Is it ignorance that make these youngsters make poor choices? Should some parents be blame for the poor choices that their children make? All I can say Lord help these youngsters.
Those people need God in there life that’s heartless. To take lifes like that can’t have god in there life. They need to ask God to come into there lifes. That’s sad very sad
The city of Chicago should be concerned with these happenings to its people. Steps should be taken to slow the death toll. The needs of those affected by these deaths should be given more attention. We can not stop all the violence and it must be stopped.
God has nothing to do with what is going on only man; the government has flooded our community with drugs bringing nothing but death and destruction.
I remember a black persone could not purchase a gun.THINK MY PEOPLE; and for you colored folks that think death only come to poor folks think again we are all black in America. Money, status, fame, etc. won’t save you me or anyone else.

well i love chicago with all my heart but its a shame that so many people are dying i mean our black brothers and sister are dying off in such a stupid way we need to put down the guns and pick up books chicago will be in my heart lways thats were iam born and raise but at time i get scared to walk outside without having to dicth and dodge bullets so all we need is more peace:-)
