Comedian Bernie Mac Is Dead

Comedian Bernie Mac died at Northwestern Memorial hospital in Chicago early this morning, reports the Chicago Sun TImes. The funny standup comedian and star of televison’s popular Bernie Mac show was 50.
Mary Ann Grossett, Mac’s sister-in-law spoke with People Magazine, sharing details of her famous inlaw’s final struggle:
He couldn’t breathe. He opened his eyes on his own and looked at Rhonda (his wife). She called his name, and he opened his eyes and nodded to her. She smiled at him and told him, ‘Don’t leave me … ‘I’m waiting for you to come back.’ He shrugged his shoulders, and she said that’s when she knew he was tired. He signaled to her that his body was tired….
[The doctors] were working on him. They tried to resuscitate him two times. One time he came back for about an hour. Then he went into cardiac arrest the second time.
His cause of death has not been officially reported but Mac has been hospitalized with Pneumonia for about a week, as reported by BET.com last week.
Stella Foster, the Chicago Sun Times reporter who broke the story says “It brought tears to my eyes because Bernie Mac has always been my all-time favorite entertainer and comedian. It pains me to have to report that,” Foster said during a phone interview on Saturday morning.
Entertainment mogul Russell Simmons has a rack of Bernie Mac stories but one particularly funny one stands out. “When he saw the lead-in comedian get booed off stage in his first nationally televised appearance on Def Comedy Jam,” Simmons told BET.com, “he coined one his most, if not his single most loved lines. He said “I aint scared of you mother*******”. And at least for part of his career that became his calling card. I just remembered that and it made me laugh”

My deepest prayers and sympathy goes out to Bernie Mac family. His death was a tragic loss and he will truly be missed. Bernie would just walk in a crowded room and everyone would just laugh, he was just that hilarious. Bernie may you rest in peace and keep the heavens laughing. Love Ya!!
bernie mac will be missed by all of his family and friends. i will never forget bernie mac, he is most definitely, the funniest man i have never known in the comedian business. i will never forget “THE KINGS OF COMEDY” ,”LIFE”,”GUESS WHO”,nor “THE BERNIE MAC SHOW”. he is the greatest comedian in my time. most of my family cried for him and his family. we r still in ah!!!!. BERNIE U R GONE, BUT NOT FORGOTTEN. WE LOVE AND MISS YOU VERY MUCH!!!!

Bernie Mac was definitely a legend. i pray and wish the best of luck for the Mac Family. Mac was one of a kind and he will truly be missed.

Words can not even describe…I am only 25 yrs old but I remember Bernie’s first appearance on Def Comedy Jam…(with the pants that had his face spray painted on there)…It has to be his best work followed by others From (Rev. in Friday – to Dollar Bill in The Playa’s Club – to Mac being Mac in The Kings of Comedy..etc)…I know there were comedians before him that were good and there will be comedians after, but Mac was my favorite and a true original..He had this way of saying things that you know you really wanted to say yourself…but it was the way he said them and by the end of the joke you are not just laughing..but in tears..I will miss him so much. My prayers go out to his wife , daughter, grand-daughter, and other family memebers that GOD will get you through this difficult time…I love you Bernie and I will truly miss you and I pray that GOD keeps you in his perfect peace always….
To the family of Mr. Bernie Mac, “Americah” is grieving. He lived a life where he did his best and now it is the time for him to get his rest. The LORD knew and brought him home. Bernie will be truly missed, but we have his legacy to hold on to.
Family and friends hold on tight to the promise of the LORD that you will meet again. The pain is now, but let us turn that into a celebration that the LORD allowed us to share the greatness of the Mac Man.
