Comedian Bernie Mac Is Dead

Comedian Bernie Mac died at Northwestern Memorial hospital in Chicago early this morning, reports the Chicago Sun TImes. The funny standup comedian and star of televison’s popular Bernie Mac show was 50.
Mary Ann Grossett, Mac’s sister-in-law spoke with People Magazine, sharing details of her famous inlaw’s final struggle:
He couldn’t breathe. He opened his eyes on his own and looked at Rhonda (his wife). She called his name, and he opened his eyes and nodded to her. She smiled at him and told him, ‘Don’t leave me … ‘I’m waiting for you to come back.’ He shrugged his shoulders, and she said that’s when she knew he was tired. He signaled to her that his body was tired….
[The doctors] were working on him. They tried to resuscitate him two times. One time he came back for about an hour. Then he went into cardiac arrest the second time.
His cause of death has not been officially reported but Mac has been hospitalized with Pneumonia for about a week, as reported by BET.com last week.
Stella Foster, the Chicago Sun Times reporter who broke the story says “It brought tears to my eyes because Bernie Mac has always been my all-time favorite entertainer and comedian. It pains me to have to report that,” Foster said during a phone interview on Saturday morning.
Entertainment mogul Russell Simmons has a rack of Bernie Mac stories but one particularly funny one stands out. “When he saw the lead-in comedian get booed off stage in his first nationally televised appearance on Def Comedy Jam,” Simmons told BET.com, “he coined one his most, if not his single most loved lines. He said “I aint scared of you mother*******”. And at least for part of his career that became his calling card. I just remembered that and it made me laugh”

me &my family watch his show daily ,and he will be sorely missed.we will keep his family &his memory in our hearts.

i lost my mother to breast cancer ,so i know what your’e going through right
now.Bernie Mac was a very funny guy and will be missed by many.I’m sure

I still cant believe this. This is so unfortunate…… very sad….Bernie I will miss you…… you left so much entertainment behind that I know I will find myself watching you over and over and over again, especially to see you open up those big big eyes that always made me laugh. Your body was tired, may you rest in peace you will truly be missed………

My family loved to watch Bernie Mac on TV. Although his language was a bit rough, he sent a good message. He was truly real. He will be missed.

I send my blessings and condonences to; his friends and family and that he is hopefully in a better place with jesus and his angels. The Mac Man was truly a gift to this world. What a deeply sad loss his passing is to millions. My sincerest prayers are with his lovely family.
When I heard the news of the passing of this Bernie Mac it was truly heartbreaking for me .I just lost my own brother in Feb.08 and it was just like loosing him all over again .When the news broke ont he radio I couldn’t belive it because rumors had been flying all that week so I had to get home to the internet and there it was big as day (Bernie Mac has passed away) At this point in time I couldn’t breathe . One of the greatest comedians off all time will sadly be missed. To the precious family hold on to the laughter and the wonderful memories that you shared with him . You have my deepest sympathy. Shake up heaven Bernie Mac . Love you, miss you and as Martin would say Ride It Til The Wheels Fall Off.!!!!! You made alot of people happy so keep on doing what you do.Your act will be a hard act to follow Mac Man.

I just want to say to the Mac – McCullough Family, my condolensces and you guys are in my prayers. I was a true fan to Bernie Mac and I loved him since Def Comedy Jam. He was a King of Comedy and he will be deeply and truly missed. May God bless you and keep you safe. Mac Man is not suffering no more. He is looking down on us and he’s saying y’all keep going. He’s with the master now.
