Comedian Bernie Mac Is Dead

Comedian Bernie Mac died at Northwestern Memorial hospital in Chicago early this morning, reports the Chicago Sun TImes. The funny standup comedian and star of televison’s popular Bernie Mac show was 50.
Mary Ann Grossett, Mac’s sister-in-law spoke with People Magazine, sharing details of her famous inlaw’s final struggle:
He couldn’t breathe. He opened his eyes on his own and looked at Rhonda (his wife). She called his name, and he opened his eyes and nodded to her. She smiled at him and told him, ‘Don’t leave me … ‘I’m waiting for you to come back.’ He shrugged his shoulders, and she said that’s when she knew he was tired. He signaled to her that his body was tired….
[The doctors] were working on him. They tried to resuscitate him two times. One time he came back for about an hour. Then he went into cardiac arrest the second time.
His cause of death has not been officially reported but Mac has been hospitalized with Pneumonia for about a week, as reported by BET.com last week.
Stella Foster, the Chicago Sun Times reporter who broke the story says “It brought tears to my eyes because Bernie Mac has always been my all-time favorite entertainer and comedian. It pains me to have to report that,” Foster said during a phone interview on Saturday morning.
Entertainment mogul Russell Simmons has a rack of Bernie Mac stories but one particularly funny one stands out. “When he saw the lead-in comedian get booed off stage in his first nationally televised appearance on Def Comedy Jam,” Simmons told BET.com, “he coined one his most, if not his single most loved lines. He said “I aint scared of you mother*******”. And at least for part of his career that became his calling card. I just remembered that and it made me laugh”

I hope that your soul can rest in peace, now that you are not suffering in discomfort. May God be with you, your family, members of your show, and friends. We all are hurt that you are gone in person, but glad you are with us in spirit. You will always be that funny, kind hearted man we all will need in our lives and we willl have it. I watch your show and love so hard you are amazing. I know how you loved those kids on the show, you were like that with anyone. I hope that your wife finds strength to get better and always keep you in her heart, spirit, and mind. I remember when I first seen Bernie i thought he was a liitle too brash, BUT let me tell you that the next time i seen him he got me as a fan cause i seen the genius in his work…………..When he came out as the last ORIGINAL KINGS OF COMEDY, now I know why he came out last, cause he finished it off right,(milk and cookies)…………….I never laughed so hard in my life…..Bernie will be missed and honored, I know he probably has all of Heaven laughing like they never laughed before…………B-MAC We’ll see you soon my brother………………GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY

Burnie mac was a really funney dude and it was a surprise to hear of his passing i would like to say to his his family that i am very sorry and i pray for them and he was a veary yung soul and he wnt to soon GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY we all loved him and we will never forget him

god bless your family… it makes me sad to kno we lost a funny man but kno there is no more pain where he is at now my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends he was a real good man and will be missed by everyone who knew him or knew his work and was his fans

I am truly sorry for the lost of a great man, comedian, and great, great person. Bernie tells jokes about things that real people can relate to because his jokes are about some of the same things that happen in your family and that is what makes his jokes so funny cause you know exactly what is talking about. When he tells his jokes it is almost like you are sitting there saying, “do he know my family”. But being the man that is was is why he made it as far as he did because he never forgot where he came from. He will truly me missed by many,many,many people and I am one person that will miss hearing his jokes forever. But, we still have what he has left behind for us to remember him by like his movies, TV shows, DVD’s, etc. As for his family keep your heads up because I believe that is what Bernie would want you to do. He in HEAVEN STILL MAKING PEOLE LAUGH. God Bless his wife, daughter, grand-daugther and family.
BERNIE MAC WAS A GREAT COMEDIAN, ACTOR, AND PERSON. HE CARED FOR OTHERS ALOT. MY CONDOLENCES GOES OUT TO HIS ENTIRE FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND FANS BECAUSE HE HAS MADE AN IMPACT ON MANY PEOPLE LIVES. MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE MAC FAMILY. WHEN I FIRST HEARD THE NEWS I WAS SO SO SAD ALL I COULD DO IS CRY. I DIDN’T KNOW BERNIE MAC BUT ME AND MY MOTHER LOVED THE MAN WE SAW AND GREW TO LOVE ON TV. HE WOULD MAKE ME AND MY MOTHER LAUGH SO HARD HE BROUGHT US TO TEARS, LIKE IM TEARING NOW. MY MOTHER PASSED THE SAME WAY IN APRIL OF 2006, SO I TRULY DO FEEL YOUR PAIN. AS TIME PAST YES WOUNDS WILL HEAL BUT THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A EMPTY SPACE THAT WILL NEVER BE FILLED IN OUR HEARTS.

To God Be the Glory for all the Blessings in our Lives. I know you are all feeling such a great loss that it all seems unreal. I pray that God gives you continued love, peace of mind and heals your aching hearts so you can move ahead as time allows. Please know that God loved him also and was ready for him to come home. You have been such a instrument in Bernie Mac’s life for without your support as a spouse or daughter he could not have made it. My condolences go out to the McCollough Family. Bernie Mac was a true artist and he shared his God given gift with the world. I thank God that we were blessed with Mr. Mac’s talent before being called home. Stay strong McCollough Family…God will sustain you.

I’d like to send my prayers to the Mac family.Bernie Mac will be missed by all of us.He made me feel as though I knew him.Seems like everybody I know,myself included had a family member that his various characters reflected somehow.This made so many relate to B.MAC.That’s why I feel as though we all have lost a family member.May the Lord be with the family during this time of mourning.Thanks B.MAC and God bless the family.
